Anyone out there use this service? The coverage looks good in my area, and I would love to save money on my phone bill. This would cut our bill in half and allow us to get my 12 yr daughter a phone.
I use this service and love it. I got the Kyocera hydro icon, which goes on sale all the time for $30. If you do get this service, I would cancel both trials upon buying because its easy to forget about them and find a big bill for them. For most people, the free plan (200 min, 500 texts, and 500 mb) is plenty enough anyway. I have had only one problem with them, which was promptly and efficiently addressed. Note that these phones use Voip services.
Are talking VOIP for the home service or the cel service? I’ve been looking at switching my Virgin Mobile to either Freedom Pop or Ting. If It only works VOIP, then you wouldn’t have true cel service … no? That would be a deal breaker for sure.
Voip over home. You can make calls without an internet connection.
As an additional thought, these phones (if you buy one) are certified refurbished, which I have had no trouble with.
I have had this service for over a year.I love the money it saves me but we are about switch back to Verizon because the service is just ok in my area. If I lived somewhere else I would sick with it though. There are some glitches with receiving pictures through text though. In all honesty I haven’t contacted them about it though.
Clunky, but worth it for me at this time.
Hi what if I want just the first package anx not the plus package?aftr one month?
By first package do you mean the free package? You can do that.
I am looking to switch cell phone companies too. Does anyone have any experience with Boost Mobile?
Does anyone know if you can cancel the global service on this once you get it?
As a bonus to the 200 free minutes, you will receive 100 addition international minutes at no charge. I’m pretty sure you can change the global plan though.
Yes, you can cancel. They hide that option in plain sight. Downgrading option is not a button, it’s small plain text mixed in with the ulgrade option buttons.
Does it do hotspot so you can use internet on laptop/tablet?
You can for an additional fee.
I got the iPhone 5 for my daughter thru groupon only paid 189. And it stated that I would get a Derain amount of voice and text minutes and like 200 of Internet. I have used them for almost a year and they charge me 4.99 for what was supposed to be a free service. Also they upgrade promotions without letting you know then when trial is over they charge you. Their return are lengthy and you have to fight for it with multiple people. They also do not work if you have no internet connection. Even though my daughter has the free plan her phone will not work without wifi. Not good specially when trying to make an emergency call
Yes. They are already acting like large greedy companies, yet their service, devices, and cs are 2nd rate. A learning curve, but can be worth it still for those willing to put time and effort to save some money.
Btw, did you try the downgrade option, no rollover turned on, etc?
So this only works if you have WiFi?? It’s not a real cell phone?
This is a real cellphone. I have called without WiFi.
Comes with data and can create a hotspot from it.
I use them in an urban area, 3G works okay, LTE (4G) even better of course. They now have LTE hotspots (try to find one under $40 with shipping), refurb, but works fine. It seems that the quality of devices is better if you get them directly from their site.
The only thing I find confusing is whether or not this sim would be LTE on newer phones, On my older phone it’s a 3G. It works, even though their 3G hotspots won’t anymore, phased out.
Oh and this sim works only through their own app, not the phone’s native app, which is okay, though odd. No roaming. They also let you choose your new phone number.
What I learned:
if you wish to avoid charges, you need to locate tiny text to downgrade and can do so as soon as your order goes through. Also, you may want to deselect automatic top offs under billing to avoid surprise charges if you use too much data without realizing it. They also may add you on rollover plan, ect… They are sneaky, but if you’re willing to learn how they operate you can benefit. They charged me $5 for a credit/topoff at sign up, AFTER I clicked “no.” I don’t mind paying extra when I need it, but hate sneaky charges. But even with their tricks and older devices, you can still save money and get decent service.
So, my advice is to opt out of everything as soon as you sign up and then add what you like as you learn more about what they offer. You will see a warning, don’t let it scare you away from downgrading and getting the promised free service option 😉
Also, you can earn 50mb data monthly just by adding friends’ emails to your group, no need to use referral links. Everyone benefits.
Oh, it took 7 days for processing this sim and 10 days in shipping! The 1st month trial starts when it ships out. I paid $7 for my sim.
