And did you know that Lands’ End has an awesome guarantee on ALL of their products?! Hoping someone can help me out! I have been looking at bookbag on LL Bean for my soon to be Kindergarten because I want something that will last a few years at the least. Anyone have any insight which is better ll bean vs lands end? Thanks in advance!

    • isabella

we have the Lands End Backpack and my son loves it!

    • Jen

I haven’t used either, but in case you’re open to other brands I can vouch for pottery barn kids backpacks. They are great quality and look pretty close to new at the end of the school year. Both the backpacks and lunch boxes have held up extremely well and wash up very nicely in the washing machine!

      • Alice

I would agree that PBK backpacks are the highest quality.

I would agree with the PB lunch bags. My child’s still looks new and it has been 3 years now. He has been using it for daycare (for 12 months a year…no summer breaks) since I pack certain snacks for him due to food sensitivities. I place it in the washer and comes out fine. The durable plastic molding really holds up and I wipe it clean daily. It’s a little pricey but worth it in the end.

My boys used Lands End for 4 years. Still in good shape, just too dirty to use for school this year. We just bought ll bean because of a good sale, but have heard wonderful things.

      • Tanya

You can just throw it in the washing machine, and it will be just fine! I did it with my daughter’s.

        • April

Thanks! Spot cleaning sure doesn’t work.

Hi, I’ve used Land’s End backpacks and they hold up really well. My son’s has lasted 3 yrs and still looks good, the netting for the water bottle has frayed a bit though. It was passed on to my younger son who just finished K last year. I got my daughter one last year and it still looks brand new too. They wash well and the zippers hold up. Cute colors and prints too!

Hello everyone. Does anyone know of other LE promo codes? I just realized I need a new swimming suit for this summer and I missed the last promo of a couple of weeks ago 🙁 TIA

  2. Arlina

Would anyone know if this the best price? Or should I hold out for further reduction?

    • April

Unless you find them on clearance, this is the best price I think I’ve seen.

    • Carrie

Im wondering that myself because wasn’t it lands end last year that did the 50%, free monogramming and free shipping? That was pretty sweet! I missed that one and was hoping there’d be one this year.

      • Patty

Yes they did. It was a promo given out on GMA but Colin posted the info. Hoping for that again!!

        • Alicat

I loved that promo last year. It was in August. Hope they run it again.

We’ve owned both, and the LL Bean ones lasted the longest. They both have excellent warranties, so you really can’t go wrong with either . My daughter is a Senior in college and has been using an LLBean backpack the entire time to lug heavy computer and technology books around while riding a bike. She prefers the LLBean, they don’t go on sale as often but shipping is always free, no minimum .

  4. Lindsey

We have used both, and both lasted several years, but I think llbean is slightly better quality. Although we usually stick with lands end because it has water bottle pockets on the outside, super important in elementary school 🙂

I bought both of my kiddos LLBean Backpacks for kindergarten. The have held up so well my soon to be fourth grader is begging me for a new bag and I told her she can pay for it with her money because the one she has is still perfect. So she found one at a garage sale while on a bike ride for a dollar! So yes the LL Bean fabrics is awesome. Washed it an hung it to dry so many times and it come out sparkling clean. I can not speak to Lands End even though my daughter would say the water bottle holder and the clip across the chest are features she needs.

      Adorable story!

we have lands end backpacks, the zipper on my sons backpack broke after 2 years and they refunded us for the price. I got a new one, but less than a year later we are having zipper issues again.i haven’t called then about it because I kinda feel bad, I don’t want to take advantage, but the reason why I buy these backpacks is because they are suppose to be sturdy. Now in terms of pottery barn, my other son has one and after 2 years its pretty brand new, very very well made, but he has outgrown it for kindergarten, so I am leaning towards pottery barn for the quality. although the lands ends ines are better for older kids, cuter styles imo.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for the review Tracy! Sorry to hear the zippers did not hold up well 🙁

  7. Engsea

We have had lands end and have loved it! My son had a replacement because of a broken zipper . They lasted 8 years of daily use. The only reason we bought another is because he needed a larger one for high school

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! Glad to hear how well they held up over the years with just the zipper replacement! Thanks for sharing your experience!

  8. Christy

LL Bean has backpacks on sale right now with always free shipping. My son is going into the first grade and just received his new bag in the mail. We have never tried Lands End but I can speak on the excellent quality of LL Bean.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks for the suggestion Christy!

  9. Amy

last year I got one for my daughter they had a sale. free lettering and embroidery. anyone know if this sale will be repeated?

  10. MK

Dont your kids ask for new backpacks every year ? 🙂 Along with new school supplies? 🙂 When I was in school we had to wear uniforms, so got new uniforms, new backpacks (even if the old one was good!), new uniform shoes every year!! 🙂 All of your kids are very very very good kids ! 🙂 I just follow that and get new backpack for my child every year, usually i buy on clearance for $5- $8 like cars and all of us are happy 😉 Agreed, they are not super good quality but I just need them to work for a year! 🙂

Hi. I purchased Lands End backpacks for my twins entering kindergarten last year. They trumped LL beans because of the water bottle holder on the outside of the pack, and the clip on the chest which keeps the straps in place. Kids love it and they have fared really well so far.
I had ordered them for about $20 each with free embroidery and monogramming! Wait for a few more weeks if you aren’t picky about the kind of pattern you want to get this sale. Shipping was free over $50.
Better still, I redeemed my Discover card cash back and got more value for my gift cards.

  12. Molly

My daughter is on her fourth year with her current LE backpack….no complaints here! I was the bag 1-2x during the school year, hang dry, and it also looks new.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s awesome Molly! Thanks for sharing!

  13. Drwendyb

Potterybarn kids/teen are by far the best backpacks. Look brand new after 2 years. My kids ride the bus and the bags take beating! On sale now with free shipping

  14. Jenny

Ohhh too bad I missed this 🙁
