Target Meat

Headed to Target and looking to stock up on meat? Check out the email and photo I received from reader Emily (note that these packages of meat may have a short expiration date) –

I just got back from Super Target and got a great deal on meat! They have a coupon for $5 off a $20 meat purchase (frozen, fresh or packaged) when you text GRILL to 827438. Since Target usually has meat on clearance, I was able to snag 3 (1 lb) packs of Laura’s ground beef, a Just Bare young chicken, and 2 grass fed organic skirt steaks for $16.90 + tax with the coupon! It would have been over $40 before discounts. Super price for feeding my family!

As a reminder, you can save $5 off a meat or seafood purchase of $20 or more with the coupon found in the ad OR text GRILL to 827438 to have it delivered to your smartphone – valid through August 13th. This offer includes frozen, fresh and deli meats.

Plus, be sure to print this Laura’s Beef coupon whenever you sign up for their newsletter! AND, you can print this $1/1 any package of Just Bare Chicken coupon, as well as these other meat coupons to save even more!

* $0.75/2 packages of any Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh lunch meat
* $1/1 any pound (1 lb.) of Jennie-O Turkey Breast from your local service deli
* $1/1 lb. or 1 package of Sara Lee Premium Meats at the service deli

Also, snag additional savings with these Cartwheel Offers
*15% off Simply Balanced Beef
*5% off Market Pantry Ground Beef
*5% off Simply Balanced Frozen Poultry
*5% off Market Pantry Chicken
* 5% off Market Pantry Pork Chops

What meat deals have you scored at Target this week?

I wish we had a super Target.

  2. Catie

I always watch for those extra coupons on the meat products and stock up when they are good prices πŸ™‚

  3. Melissa

My Super target in Florida discounts meat every Saturday morning

    • Rosie

      What part of FL?

      • Melissa

        Port orange /Daytona area

  4. Lyn

It my favorite place to shop for discounted meat. I can find the red sticker coupon after about 10-11 in the morning. I guess that’s when the manager comes in and decides which product has to go.

  5. Mona

    Great deal!

  6. Emily Sutton

Can someone help me? Does the total need to be $20 before or after the on-package coupons? For example, how much would steaks priced at $9.99 with $3 on-package coupon count toward the $20 total?

    • Emily

I’m not 100%, but I always use the coupon off total (6.99) towards the extra discount.

    • pandoraaddict

Make sure the $5/$20 comes off before anything else, otherwise total will be too low for it to work.

      • Emily

My total before the text coupon was 21 and change. The meat coupons are scanned as the meat is scanned, so they can’t do the text coupon first because the meat hasn’t been scanned yet. Hope that helps Emily!

        • pandoraaddict

Emily, I ment before coupons. Depends on the cashier when the sticker on the meat is scanned. Recently at a different store, I found products with stickers they were scanned at the end with my coupons.

    • Ashley

I think it would need to be after the meat package coupons. Those coupons are scanned as the item is scanned so the amount is deducted before the purchase coupon.

    • mel

At my store, they pull the stickers off after they scan the product. So to use the $5 off, my total would need to be $20 *after* the discount coupons. Any other store coupons are scanned after the $/$$ purchase offer. However, I did have one cashier that pulled the q’s off and scanned after once, but that is not the norm!

    • Nick

Emily every answer you have been given is incorrect. The full price of the meat will count towards your $5/$20 meat coupon. I just bought (2) packs of steaks for $9.99 each and (1) package of hot dogs for $1.50 for a total of $21.50. My steaks had $3 off discount coupons on them and they were scanned as she rang them up. My total was $15.50 when the $5/$20 coupon was scanned and it worked just fine. I probably have the receipt I can email to show you that it does work. This type of coupon stacking is also addressed in the coupon policy in detail. Happy Shopping!

      • Emily

Thank you! I would have thought the total would have to be $20 after Target coupons on package but the more I think about it, Target doesn’t normally do other store deals with coupons that way.

I will try your experienced suggestion first. I know they scan the meat and coupon back to back the way you describe (I had meat sticker coupons and cartwheel stack last wk) so I wasn’t sure if the total being below $20 at time of mobile scan for the $5/$20 would cause issue. Worst case I’ll just grab an extra pack of meat. Thanks everyone!

  7. Leslie

My stores register only allows them to do 4 of the same discount meat coupon in 1 transaction.

    • Angela Ghormley

My store has that same limit – in fact ours might be 3.

  8. Missie

Someone was selling a whole roll of these stickers that go on meat products on Instagram. Made me so angry. Stealing and selling peelies has reached a new level of crazy. I contacted Target about it.

    • Joni

Good Lord, never an end to the length scam artists will go to. I really hate a thief and that’s what they are.

    • Mackenzie

Saw that too, made me angry as well. Totally ripping the store off.

  9. Seren

Target in ga typically marks down meat on sat morning, usually always has organic or grass fed marked down. Keeping my fingers crossed for some good deal this weekend.

    • Sarah

Thank you so much for that tip! We just moved and we are by a super target again (yay!) and I love knowing these things!

  10. Ami

I only buy these if they are still a day out from the “use or freeze” date. I’ve found that ones for the same day I am buying it are already “on the way out”. Also noticed that these probably should be frozen for future use. I’ve noticed a very strong odor once I thaw them and pitched them. So I only buy what I will use that day if they are clearanced.

    • Dany

When I see clearance meat (which I love finding at Stop & Shop) I always cook it all as soon as I get home and then freeze… I don’t want to waste freezer space on weird smelly meat.

    • Pinkie

Ami, are you referring to grass fed and/or organic meat?

  11. Lisa Doll

Just purchased $54.41 worth of meat for only $27.45! Don’t forget about Cartwheel! There are tons of meat coupons in Cartwheel for additional savings.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up! Just added the Cartwheel offers! πŸ™‚

  12. Vivian

Thank you thank you! I never thought to buy fresh organic meats at target- or that they even carried it! I just came back with two 90/10 organic beef packages and also some applegate breakfast sausages for my toddler that was already on my list! Including cartwheel this was all an awesome deal!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh awesome! You are so welcome Vivian!

  13. Shelby

I love seeing those red stickers on the grass fed meat! This is a great week between the coupon, discount, and cartwheel!

  14. Cindy

It seems to be “meat week” at Target! After reading Saturday’s post about the mobile $5.00 off $20.00 meat purchase coupon, I headed out Sunday morning to stock up on bacon. The Market Pantry bacon was $3.99 with a 25% off cartwheel to go with it. I also found a Hormel pork tenderloin with a $3.00 off sticker and I had a 1.00/1 Hormel pork coupon from a magazine. My total was 11.27 for 4 pounds of bacon and a tenderloin. I was a happy Target shopper!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great score Cindy! Thanks for sharing!

  15. momo

My s-Target nvr has these stickers on their meat -_-

  16. Kay

Is the $5 off $20 meat coupon available in the Target ad or only via text?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It is available in the ad as well πŸ™‚

  17. Dillon

There are also Cartwheel offers on meat right now.
5% on Market Pantry Pork Chops
    5% on Market Pantry Chicken

    • Dillon Rhodes

Also 25% off certain bacon brands
15% off Market Pantry Fresh Sausage
5% off Market Pantry Frozen Beef Patties
5% off Market Pantry Ground Beef
15% off Hebrew National Beef Franks

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks! Just added!

  18. Tiggy

You can also buy meat at Target store’s that are classified as a P-Fresh store, not just a Super Target.
.P-Fresh have some grocery items, but no fresh deli or bakery.

  19. Bethany

The meat may be “organic” but it’s full of carbon monoxide to keep it red. This is why the tiiiiiiny print on the red meat package says “color is not an indication of freshness”. If you do your research, you’ll see that use of carbon monoxide to keep meat looking red is becoming standard industry practice. I warn people as I’m sensitive to this toxin (even in small doses) so I know others could be too (especially kids!)
