My Purse

Hey all! I’m Angie, one of Collin’s HIP sidekicks! 😊 As many of you likley know, Collin recently shared a post on “What’s Really in Her Purse!“… and now it’s my turn! Although my purse is no where near as exciting as Collin’s, I have quite the collection of “stuff” tucked away in my bag. Here’s a rundown of the items that I usually have in my purse…

Sunglasses

I am starting to worry about getting crows feet and well, sunglasses are a necessity! I try hard to protect my eyes from both the sun and from squinting due to the sun. Just trying to keep myself looking as young as possible. My favorite pair are Oliver Peoples, they are super cute and go with everything! I scored an awesome deal on these by purchasing them gently used over on Thredup.com.

My Purse

First Aid Items

When you’ve got kiddos, having First Aid items in your purse is a must. I often have Band-AidsNeosporin Spray, Dramamine and Dramamine for Kids.

Ear Plugs

My daughter has extremely sensitive ears and loud noise makes her quite upset. Therefore, I tend to carry a bag of ear plugs in my purse, that way I am always prepared!

Snacks

I always have something to eat in my purse. I don’t want to be HANGRY (or have my kiddos be hangry) and it can happen in a matter of seconds. I most often carry a mixture of Mixed Nuts and Chocolate Chips. My favorite are the Kirkland brand Unsalted Mixed Nuts from Costco and Ghirardelli Bittersweet Chocolate Chips. I also LOVE Quest bars – my favorite is the Cookie & Cream flavor. YUM!

Gum and Mints

Gotta have fresh breath! I love Wintergreen Lifesavers and could eat these by the handful. I also always have gum. I don’t have a favorite brand, but I always purchase my gum on Amazon as part of a Subscribe & Save deal – this is definitely the best way to save money on gum without any effort.

Hand Sanitizer

I am a little bit of a germaphobe so I always have hand sanitizer with me. I currently have Purell, but my favorite are the Bath & Body Works PocketBac Sanitizers. They smell so good and leave my hands feeling moisturized and not dry.

My Purse

Hand Lotion

This is a must have for me as my hands get dry and chapped! I really like Ahava Hand Cream. I received this cream as a gift and it absolutely ROCKS! My hands recover so quickly with this cream.

Lip Balm or Chapstick

Dry lips? Not for me! I carry a couple of different brands in my purse – Nivea Smoothness Lip Balm works awesome and can usually be picked up for a pretty great price with a coupon! I also really like L’Occitane Lip Balm. I received this as a gift and it’s amazing! If you’re gonna splurge on a lip balm, this would be a great one to do it on.

Pens and Scissors

I always have a list when I am out shopping, so a pen helps me stay on track with what I am needing to accomplish/ pick-up at the store. I also always carry scissors so I am ready for a coupon!

Floss

Have a friend who seems to always get food stuck in their teeth? That’s me. 😳 I always carry floss for that “just in case” moment. I really like Oral-B Glide Floss.

Clippers

I can’t stand a rough fingernail, so I make sure to keep my clippers handy. Tweezerman are my favorite – but anything to get rid of a rough edge works for me!

Stay tuned for more “What’s in My Purse” posts. The whole Hip2Save team will each be taking a turn to share the little treasures inside their bags!

First off all Thank you for all you do for us.Looks like you guys have worthy stuff in your purses. After my daughter’s birth I always forget to carry my purse and only managing diaper bag lol…

Ear plugs! Genius! My youngest son doesn’t like loud noises. We have ear plugs at home but why did I never think of throwing some in my purse??

I want to know, how much did you toss before you spread it out? If I looked in my purse, I have a ton of “trash” (expired coupons, wrappers that found their way in there, a couple corn nuts). Dish ladies, did you clean it out before you spread it out? 🙂

    • Keilyn

HAHA, i’d like to know that too. Im sure we all carry some expired coupons when we feel to lazy to clean the purse out. lol

    • Angela (Super Saver Sidekick)

That sounds like my purse too Kelly! Lots and lots of receipts! 😉

    • Angie (Sweet Sidekick)

I actually didn’t toss a bunch of stuff. However, I have a grocery bag that I keep and put all of my receipts in so they are all together. LOL

Just a helpful tip I learned. I have two children that suffered greatly with motion/car sickness. I see you carry the Dramamine. That tended to make my kids very sleepy. We now use Ginger capsules. If you kids can’t swallow they make ginger tea, ginger ale, ginger candy, etc. I used to take the capsules and open them up and put in yogurt etc. I never give anything to my kids without taking it myself first. It has a tad spicy taste that way, but it did not bother my kids. My husband had the motion sickness growing up too. I was surprised at just how well the ginger worked. It is amazing stuff. My kids as long as they take it have not had motion sickness again. I feel like I missed out on so many trips when they were little because I was tired of being thrown up on. It gave me quite a bit of freedom. If you read about ginger and motion sickness it is all over the internet. It is also MUCH CHEAPER then Dramamine. Hope that helps.

Ear plugs are such a great idea! My daughter is also sensitive – she won’t do the noise cancelling muffs! Thanks‼️

Dorothy, where do you purchase ginger capsules?

all the links are to just try to get us to buy stuff. Not really sharing the purse contents for fun but rather to sell. Post doesn’t feel genuine.

👆🏻 What she said. I can appreciate that the Hip Team is trying to introduce and humanize the staff but…

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry to hear you feel that way. It’s a purse post sharing what’s inside Angie’s purse, so really the only way to do that is by letting her list the items she likes and sharing the links to the products. I personally have always liked reading those purse posts in magazines, so I just thought it would be fun to involve the team in sharing what they have hiding in their purses.

    • Gerta

I love these posts. In fact, when Collin posted the contents of her purse, she mentioned the Wet Brush. I purchased one and couldn’t be more thrilled with it. No more tangles for me. Wouldn’t have known about it had she not made that wonderful list.
