Considering our kiddos are the most likely to catch and spread a cold, cleaning supplies are a must in the classroom. From disinfecting Clorox wipes to hand sanitizer, schools are likely to accept anything you offer on top of their own inventory.

Why not present the cleaning supplies as back to school teacher gifts by adding our printable tags! They’ll definitely appreciate needing to purchase fewer supplies on their own.

If only it was possible to find disinfecting wipes! It’s like winning the lottery if you do. 😉

  2. Nicole

Would love to buy disinfecting wipes or spray, any tips on how to get some? (My area is out!)

I was able to order Clorox wipes (3 packs) from Amazon recently. It was available for an extremely brief period this morning. Keep checking. They go in and out of stock. You can order upto 3 max. But in order to get your order go through fast (before it get removed from your cart due to out of stock), I suggest you only order only 1 at a time. Hope this helps.

Another option is from Costco.com and they are available now (at least for my zip code). If you have Costco membership, you can order online 5 packs of 85ct each for $22.99 shipped. Kirkland disinfecting wipes 304ct also available for $17.99 shipped. Limit 1 each item. Prices was a bit higher because they have built in shipping & handling. I was unable to find in store though some people have luck finding them in Costco stores.

There are none to be found…

Still? We’ve had them back in stock in all the stores I go to in NorCal for a few months now

I have my sites on my favorites. I check Walgreens, Walmart and Amazon, frequently. The trick is to stay on top of these websites and see when it’s available and buy them. I just checked my Walgreens (Chicago) and they had disinfectant spray behind the counter (Complete Home brand). They had NICE wipes a couple of weeks ago and I bought the limit, 2. Keep checking Amazon, they have Lysol spray for $5+ through Amazon fresh, just got one Thursday and added a few items I would have bought at the store anyways. Good luck to everyone..

I’m a little confused, are there a lot of states that still have in person school? Because all the schools here are distance learning. I mean I know there was that photo of the Georgia school that went viral but I kind of assumed that would cause a lot of other schools to do distance learning as well..

My school is giving parents the choice. Most families are choosing in class.

    • Z

My county gave parents 4 options- We chose the face to face option for our family.

      • Lo

4 options wow! We have 2- Digital academy or in person. There’s a rumor in person will go remote when flu season starts.

    • tracey

Our state seems like it is mostly going in person although most schools have an online version available. Also has to do with the state funding regarding virtual learning.

    • Deanna

Our school is distant learning or independent studies (home school) which is what we’ve done for the past 4 years, but we still have to go in and get all the materials and meet the advisor.

    • Csandst1

Our district in NJ is going in-person every other day for a half-day. Days not in- person are online.

    • Jax

My county is giving parents, but not teachers a choice. I’m back in the classroom right now and I will have face to face kids next week. I’m in Florida.

    • rochellemcgee

We have 4 options in Fl.

    • Jennifer

I am in Fl and it depends on your county. In my county we are all elearning for the first 4 weeks. The others are only speaking for their counties. My county never had 4 options

  6. MJ

Thanks fellow hipsters for the tips on where to find wipes, the Lysol wipes and spray are on my sons back to school list, but I haven’t seen any in store since before the pandemic. I will keep checking! We also have the option, virtual or in class and are starting an A B schedule. I bet we will end up virtual at some point bc I just assume there will be cluster outbreaks. I would keep my kid home, but my husband insists and he wants to go, so I’m over ruled…

I have had good luck finding at Dollar General. Check their dollar aisle also. We have found disinfect spray and sanitizing wipes there recently.

I’ve had luck finding wipes at Target. They only allow 1, so usually have some left! I find them usually on Monday/Tuesday mid day. Our district is online or in person, but starting with online for everyone and in person starts end of September. However, they’re offering in person prior to that for families with hardships who don’t have childcare etc. Those students will be spaced out 6 feet in the gym with a “library” like setting while doing online work like everyone else. So, they will need supplies. I plan on sending some even though my kiddos will be home as long as they allow it. These are still our teachers, and still our kids classmates. Keeping the class supplied and helping they stay clean/safe still matters to us.

Thanks for sharing MH and good luck this year. It’s sure different for all of us.

Ughhh reading these comments 😣😣😣 so glad 2020 is over. Love this idea for back to school !!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I agree that was a hectic time yikes! I am glad you find this helpful!

Not every teacher will be able to use those cleaning supplies. The district I work for has very strict rules about cleaning products. The only things from your suggestion list I would be able to use are the hand sanitizer and paper towels.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the heads up and warning that not all teachers may be able to use these items. Good to know to check into what will work best for your school. 💕
