I’ve been subscribing to Ipsy for two years. How does Birchbox compare? Does anyone know?

    • Tina

I’ve been with ipsy for almost five years. I subscribed to birchbox for four months. Canceled it and I didn’t like it. I did ended up with 15 dollars in points for reviewing products and just got a box for free this upcoming month. I believe it’s all preference.

I prefer iPsy. I did birch box for over a year and it really went down hill.

I canceled birch box after two months. The products are a joke. I prefer ipsy and boxy charm.

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear that Kasi ๐Ÿ™

For $10 it’s better to do Sephora Play box. Includes deluxe size samples of products you can purchase inside Sephora.

    • Dawn

I just signed up for the Sephora box. I’m hoping I like that box. I’ve had ipsy for almost two years. It’s hit and miss on the ipsy products, but the bags are sure cute! ๐Ÿ’—

I agree with Dawn, it’s a hit or miss with ipsy that’s why I recently cancelled my subscription. I’ll just stick with the Sephora play box, it’s better in my opinion.

I really like birchbox, and I actually have that lip crayon, too…it’s super nice! A great thing about this offer is that you’ll also get $5 in shop credit for reviewing 5 of the items in your box (you might get more than 5 samples, I do pretty often). They have lots of brands at a range of price points, so it’s not hard to find something to spend the $5 on. I’d be awesome if someone signing up might use my link…thanks in advance!

Birchbox actually stopped giving points after reviewing products in the middle of this month. It was part of their new points process that allows points to be redeemed in any amount. After subscribing with them for almost 2 years, I feel as if they just took away $5 each month I was earning to use on the makeup!

      • Meg

Not true. I just reviewed a product last night and got my points.

        • Jorrie

Yep, the change is true. With the new point system subscribers get points for their next five reviews and then no more points are awarded after that. Maybe you are still in your five. I’m waiting for a 20% coupon, spending my points and then bailing. They have gotten a lot of flack for the changes sort of like when starbucks changed.

I do ipsy and used to do bb and ipsy. Bb is higher end products with smaller sample sizes and ipsy has a few full size products and mid range products – some high end stuff too. Just depends on what you like.

    Thanks for the feedback!

      sure

Birchbox ended subscribers earning points for reviews after july. Then they stopped giving the ace annual gift ( even though they still advertise it on their website ). I know the company is in trouble financially but all the changes and the nonpologetic manner in which they were made caused me to cancel my subscription and take up Sephora play. I still subscribe to ipsy and on the whole found the quality of ipsy products to be better than Birchbox.
