Samsung has officially issued a voluntary recall on ALL original and replacement Galaxy Note7 devices sold or exchanged in the United States. Since the affected devices can overheat and pose a safety risk, they are asking anyone with a Galaxy Note7 to power it down and contact the carrier or retail outlet where they purchased their device.

Plus, anyone who has a Galaxy Note7 device can now exchange the phone for any Samsung smartphone or receive a refund. Check out more details below…

only a $100 credit for a new Samsung phone on these. . .. that’s ridiculous. I have a Samsung Edge and I’m happy with mine, but their treatment of customers for faulty phones like this has me thinking that when I do upgrade my phone that I won’t be going with Samsung anymore. I’d be very upset with this is I was a Note customer of theirs.

It’s $100 AND an exchange for a new phone

      • TracyA

ok, that makes sense. I would think if they wanted to retain customers they would HAVE to treat them better then to only give them a $100 credit. I’m happy with my Edge. It’s been a great phone. But I do care about how they treat their customers who chose a different faulty phone .. . .

I have been a loyal Samsung owner since the beginning and I was eligible for a new phone at the beginning of this month. With all that is going on I have decided to jump to the Google Pixel. It has just been released so I don’t know much about it, but I definitely don’t agree with how Samsung treated their customers.

That is crazy! They should give 100% refund. I’m glad i have an Apple phone.

    • Jennifer

They are giving full refunds. Read the whole post.

Every apple product I have ever had broke. I don’t like samsung either, I know they aren’t really related but my samsung dryer broke after 10 months. I had an lg phone size was great but it just started flaking out. Side note, idk who wants a huge phone, smaller is better if you need or want a larger screen get a tablet? Bring back the smaller phones. I hate lugging around this huge thing. My phone from 5 years ago was so cute and small. It fit perefectly in my pocket and purse.

It says an exchange or a full refund and a $100 bill credit!! Collin takes the time to post these things for us , so take the time to read it completely before making comments.

If you choose a refund, you may receive a $25 bill credit instead of the $100 offered for an exchange.

I like my edge but its cracks easy when drops so take that into account and the screen is very expensive to fix. So if you drop your phone or have kids that have sticky fingers I would stay away from it.

What kind of protector do you have for it? I have an Edge 6, over 1 yr old with an Otterbox Defender case. I have major butterfingers and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dropped my phone at home (on tile floors), outside on concrete or in the store. And it’s survived! The case around is scuffed up, but no cracks.

I have a Spigen case on mine and no cracks at all. If you don’t have a case, get one as it also makes the phone feel more substantial.

I agree, Ottherbox Defender is a must have for any mobile device in our household. Love the screen protector!

    • Jen

I also love the otterbox defender and my four kids all have one too
I drop my phone so much and no damage so far and my 5 yr old has an iPhone 4 that used to be my sons and he will just drop it on our tile floor and not one crack
      Love otterbox

I just chatted with AT&T since my husband exchanged his phone yesterday (before the Samsung announcement of $100 credit). AT&T rep said that at this time they are only providing a $25 credit with an exchange, not $100. She said if they receive notice that the credit is increased to $100, they will notify customers. So I then called Samsung and was told AT&T should give your husband a $100 credit. This is a major headache! Has anyone else run into this?

    • Tammy S

Okay so I just contacted AT&T and got a different rep. This rep confirmed it is a $100 credit and that it will be automatically applied over 1-2 billing cycles.

I am sad to see that these phones have been completely pulled!
My Note 4 is almost paid off, so I was gonna get the Note 7. Oh well, they’ll have to come out with an even better (AND SAFER) Note 8. 😉

I’ve had an S4…had some weird charging issue…got an S5 and exactly two years it lasted before the weird charging issue is happening again. I’ve had it checked at Verizon. Tried bunch of things and a new battery.. Decided to take the plunge on ordering the iPhone 7 plus. I have a 16 gb S5 now and it has so many pre-installed apps that cannot be deleted. I ran out of storage very quickly and only my photos save on the micro SD card….Can’t wait for my new phone….so much more space.

    • Fun

16gb is not enough storage for any mobile phone.

      • Kathy

it is if you have google photos with unl storage
