Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this app but oh my goodness, all of a sudden, ad overload!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Angela! Thanks for your comment and feedback! One of the ways that Hip2Save is supported is via ads – the revenue from the ads allows me to pay for hosting, web development, my awesome team of sidekicks, the free email newsletter and Hip2Save sponsored giveaways. My goal has always been to place ads on the site that are not obtrusive or obnoxious so I truly appreciate your feedback and will definitely take it into account as future changes are made to the site.

      • Angela

Totally understand. Thanks for your consideration. 🙂

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          You’re welcome! 😉

  2. Julia L.

Thank you. Are banners appearing for everyone that uses the app now? It’s disappointing because it makes it extremely difficult to read the headlines. Thank you H2S team for your hard work, just wanted to add my 2 cents. 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Julia! Are you speaking of the ads in the app? Yes, we now have ads on the app which generate revenue that helps pay for Hip2save giveaways, hosting, web development and so many more aspects that keep this site running. I always try to have ads that are not annoying. I sure do appreciate the feedback and will keep it in mind as new changes are made. 😉

  3. Diana

Way too many ads now ☹️

  4. MrsB

What’s happening with the HIP2SAVE app? I deleted it hopefully the ADs are going to go away. Uploaded it again and boom! It’s still there such a bummer 😫

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi there! The ads are new to the app. They help generate revenue to help pay for many aspects of the site such as giveaways, hosting web development and even my great team of sidekicks. I sure do appreciate the feedback and will pass it along when going over future changes!

  5. Nicole

I agree as overload way to many hard to see all the great deals you post

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for sharing Nicole! The ads help generate revenue to help me pay for various aspects of the site. I truly appreciate the feedback and will keep this in mind as we make changes in the future.

  6. M

are we talking about ads on the H2S app? thank god i dont see any LOL

  7. Kerri

I don’t see any ads yet. I am however thankful for hip2save and know they also need to pay their bills. A few ads never hurt anyone 😃

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the kind comment Kerri! 😉

  8. Laura

So far I don’t have any ( maybe I haven’t updated it) not going to either if that’s the case
    Ads are obnoxious!!
I would prefer no giveaways etc in exchange for no ads

    • Laura

Yup it’s the new update ( bug fixes & improvements my foot) why not be honest and state ad overload. I updated on my iPad. Now I’ll delete that one.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

We’ve invested a lot of money in creating and maintaining the app (as well as the hip2Save website). To continue investing time and money in both, we have made the decision to have ads on the app. I understand the frustration and we will definitely take into consideration all of the feedback we’ve gotten.

        • Laura

Collin, thank you for addressing our complaints

One thing I loved about you site/app is the lack of crap/ads. Your site was different- but now? Not so much.

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry you feel that way. We still have the same great content available.

  9. Jenn

Wow. I don’t see any ads with my app BUT if it starts I totally get it. Collin just explained why ads are there. I have no problem with ads Collin. I appreciate all that you do! I have been following you for YEARS!!!! I appreciate you and have no idea how you and your team keep up with everything. So appreciative of Hip2Save! 😘

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the sweet words Jenn! SO happy to have you as a long time reader 😀

  10. Brittany

The ads are driving me nuts! There is a banner ad every three posts…very hard to look at visually. Not to mention the ad that appears at the bottom of the page when you click on a deal. I love love love Hip2Save and the app…but can’t stand these new ads.

  11. Mike

There is literally an ad after every 3 deal posts. That means that every time I look at the app or scroll through the deals of the day, I have to see 2 ads. Every time I open a deal post or a link within a deal post, I see an ad at the bottom of the page. Every one of these ads is exactly the same ad. It’s for rosuvastatin (not sure about the spelling) coupon and it’s a huge black rectangle with white text. It’s very ugly and not easy on the eyes. These factors combined are what make these new ads more obtrusive than on other sites and apps. If the ads were smaller and only at the top and/or bottom of the screen it would be much easier to handle. I don’t mind the ads at the bottom of every deals post, but having to scroll through almost dozen ads when scrolling through the deals of the day is going to be very obtrusive and annoying.

    • Diana

I agree. An ad every 3 deals is obnoxious. Idk if I can deal with the phone app but I’m fine with viewing the website on my laptop

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I appreciate you all letting me know and I totally understand your frustration. This is the first time we’ve rolled out ads on the app, so we are dealing with some glitches and issues that will hopefully be fixed next week. I am compiling all of your complaints to discuss with the team.

  12. Janet

Ty for everyone posting the update has ads, I will def not be updating.

    • rosana

      Same here 🙂

  13. ZPG

I’m a big fan of your site and I understand you need ad revenue, but I think a few changes would make the ads less obtrusive. If you could just have the ads at the top or bottom of the app, it would be a lot easier to digest than having an ad between every 3rd and 4th deal. That makes people have to scroll through a much longer list of deals and is very annoying. I don’t mind the ads at the bottom of every deal post since they are not obtrusive and I can easily ignore them. But having so many ads in the deals feed that are so large and for the same rosuvastatin coupon on every single ad (which has a black background and white text) that is not at all easy on the eyes.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I completely understand what you are saying and appreciate the feedback. It’s really helpful as we continue making changes to the app.

  14. Dana

DO NOT update the app. Cluttered with ads. It’s not even manageable.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Dana,

We are working through the issues and ad glitches currently happening on the app. Hopefully we’ll have an updated version after the weekend.

  15. Jessica

I wish I would have read this before updating.. I get that the site needs ads to function… I wouldn’t mind one ad at the bottom. But one ad every 3 posts? It’s a little extreme.

    • Courtney

      I wish I had too. 😞

  16. Leticia

Good thing I don’t have any more space on my phone to update any app LOL!

  17. Tiffany Hernandez

I totally agree with the ads. I’m probably going to get bashed for saying this and that is fine (freedom of speech) but I would rather have less giveaways and such and have an easy site/app to look at. This site used to be my 1st to look at for deals and such and it’s slowly going to bottom of list because all the changes. I guess it’s like anything… When it becomes popular and when money talks…well you get what I’m saying. I do however appreciate all that you guys do….but I’m wondering if pretty soon we will have to pay a membership fee like so many other sites. So maybe it is a trade off… Put up with a few ads… To keep your site free to look at….sighhhhhhh what happen to the good ol’ days…but we must change with the times I guess. Sad but true … 😔

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Tiffany,

I will NEVER EVER charge a subscription fee for the site. I promise you that.

…And to be honest, the need for ads is to pay for MUCH MORE than giveaways. I have a team that literally works around the clock to find you all the best deals. The people who I get to work with on a daily basis are amazing and passionate, but definitely don’t work for free. In addition to paying my amazing team of sidekicks, I have to pay for hosting, a web design company, the email newsletter, the app, video editing and the list goes on.

I definitely value ALL of your opinions. The site is successful because of each of YOU, so thank you. I will be chatting with the team to see what changes we can make so that the ads aren’t so intrusive. Thanks for your patience as we work through these issues.

    • Mel

I miss the old mobile website so much! It was my homepage. The new one looks great but takes about 4-5 minutes to load on my phone so I don’t even attempt. I have learned to love the app but a search option or something like the “hip list” would be awesome! Collin, thank you so much for taking all of these opinions into consideration. 💜

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks, Mel! I appreciate the feedback and will pass along to the team.

  18. Melissa P.

Way too many ads now. Every 3 deals there’s a banner ad?! I get why but I’d rather have less giveaways if it meant no more/ significantly less ads. I’ll delete the app and stick with the site.

  19. Deedee

Love Collin and the team. But I agree. Placing ads every 3 posts is very obtrusive and makes it hard to access the posts freely – which defeats the purpose of having the app on your mobile device in the first place. I see her point in terms of revenue and such but may be tone it down just a little bit please ? Does anyone know how to go back to the previous version? My settings allow the apps to update automatically. Bummer.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thank you for the feedback. I totally understand where you are coming from. We are taking into account all of the complaints regarding the ads and are definitely brainstorming this weekend as we want you all to have a good experience on the app. Stay tuned as we continue to make changes.

  20. Catie

Off topic I guess lol but Baskin Robbins also sends out a free scoop for your birthday–just redeemed mine today! That came via email though, not as a text offer 🙂

    • Mel

Yes! I have my hubby and kids signed up too! 😊 (FYI…not sure about other stores but my store wants them printed)

      • Catie

I was able to show mine on my phone today and he scanned the barcode…must vary by location 🙂

  21. K

Just wanted to say thank you for all you do. One comment about the ads is enough. The team got the message. This doesn’t need to become a ‘bash hip2save’ post where we threaten to stop using the app or website. Love the site, Collin loves her readers and will take care of them-she always has. Get your free scoop of ice cream and move on. Be kind.

    • Jessica

I don’t think it’s at all bashing. When I use the app, the majority of the time my comments show up way later, a long with the other ones I can see. I don’t see any “bashing” I’ve only seen people leave respectable comments how they don’t like all the ads, and with that, I think it’s important to leave the message that if it’s going to be like this from now on, they will uninstall the app. To make things better feedback is needed.

  22. Ihearthip

The ads aren’t that bad. You just keep scrolling. I see much much worse on other sites. She’s got to pay the bills folks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the comment.

  23. Jos

The ads don’t bother me at all either. Most all free apps have ads. Also I ran a small blog before and know the cost that goes into a site. I can’t even imagine the thousands of dollars Collin has to spend a month to maintain this site. We don’t pay anything to visit here yet she saves us so much money. The least we can do is not complain about ads.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the comment. When I first started blogging, I never realized that it would be this expensive to run and maintain a website and app. It’s crazy! 😳

  24. Tarri

Like others I feel the same about the ads. I did find one for the Elephant that said 4.99 for a tote, that I went to the site and it said regular price. After see the ad for days I finally checked again and it was now 5.00. So I held out hoping for free ship and it happened today and got the tote for 4.50 after 10% discount.

  25. rn30032

Thanks Collin and team…got my scoop yesterday

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome!

  26. maria

What ads? I’m still seeing all the great posts, as always.

    • Laura

Maria – Don’t update your app! When you do – ad overload

      • Just Me

I didn’t update ( unless my phone does it automatically) and I’ve got ads. Last night I was like what is everyone talking about?

        • Laura

Some phones( your settings) update automatically. Thankfully I don’t have mine set up that way.

  27. Delanda Jo

Such entitlement! I think she gets it now. I have seen the ads but nothing to make me EVER stop visiting your site. I’m more addicted now than I was a few years ago. Thank you for all you do.

  28. Rebecca

The ads really don’t bother me! I appreciate all you do, Colin & team! I have been following your site for years, and the amount of money you have saved my family is amazing. Do what you have to do to make sure you are rewarded for all your hard work!! A little extra scrolling past ads won’t kill me! I am so very grateful for this site!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awww… thanks, Rebecca. ❤️ I really appreciate your comment and kind words.

    • kim

      Me too!!

  29. kim

Hey you know how i feel Collin, but thank you!!!

  30. Andrea

I don’t mind the ads at all and totally get it. No big deal – just a simple change to get used to. I LOVE HIP2SAVE! Thank you for all you do!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thank you, Andrea! I really appreciate your comment. ❤️

  31. kim

    Just got it, yay!!
