Top Rated Artificial Christmas Trees

Artificial trees have come a long way in recent years – they’re bigger, fuller, pre-lit, easy to set up, and more realistic than ever. Okay, so they don’t smell the same, but I’m a HUGE fan of these Scentsicles! They’re also a great budget-friendly option, considering they’re reusable for many years, and are available in a wide range of prices. They’re a great option for allergy sufferers, too!

This year I’m looking to upgrade my tree, so I’ve been on the hunt for the BEST bang for my buck, since I’ll be using it for several years to come. Here’s what I found…

Best Overall Value

Sam's Club Christmas TreeThis highly rated 9′ Artificial Pre-Lit LED Color-Changing Virginia Pine Christmas Tree from Sam’s Club boasts:

  • 800 LED, 8-function, color-changing lights
  • 2,328 Simple Shape™ tips with memory wire allow the branches to spring into shape
  • Quick Set® technology uses a single plug to light the entire tree
  • Remote control, convenient tree storage bag and folding metal stand
  • 95% energy savings over 25,000 hours from long-life LED lamps

They also have a 7′ version available if you’re looking for something shorter and more narrow.

Best Budget-Friendly Buy

Amazon Christmas TreeThis 6′ Premium Hinged Artificial Christmas Pine Tree is an Amazon Top Seller with very high ratings. While this tree is not pre-lit, it comes in at under $45, making it a very budget-friendly pick!

Best Luxury Buy

Balsam Hill Christmas TreeBalsam Hill Trees are known for their very full, super realistic appearance. Covered by a 10-Year Tree and Foliage Limited Warranty and 3-Year Limited Light Warranty, these luxurious trees are very high quality.

Best Light Show

Fiber Optic Christmas TreeThis 7′ Fiber Optic Tree has 8 different light sequences featuring four different colors, and costs around $100. Score!

Top Space Savers

Space Saving Christmas Trees

  • This Half Tree Christmas Tree wins points for creativity, right?? If you’re short on space, but want a nice, full tree, this one sits flush against the wall. It has great reviews and comes in under $80.
  • How clever is the Upside Down Tree?? PLENTY of room for presents under that one! 😉
  • Or you can opt for a classic pencil. This 7.5-ft. Pre-Lit Kingswood Fir Pencil is only 30″ in diameter, and very highly rated.

Best Easy Peasy Pick

Charlie Brown Christmas TreeThis zero-effort Charlie Brown Christmas Tree sets up in no time and is easy on the wallet at around $6! Bonus: There’s only one little ornament for your toddler to knock to the ground five thousand times! 😃

Keep in mind…

You can typically find smoking deals on Christmas trees on Black Friday or after Christmas, but there are plenty of deals to be found even before Thanksgiving if you watch your local ads. In my experience, they typically offer a deep discount just once per season, and many of the trees are gone by Christmas Day, so if you find your must-have tree, you might want to buy it!

One of the benefits of buying an un-lit tree is that it may last longer, considering it’s usually the lights that go out, and you can easily change out detached lights. Find more buying tips here.

I’ve been wanting a flocked tree for years but they’re so much more expensive!

The space saving 7.5ft tree I love is $200 at target. Yeesh!

  3. Lynsi

I’ve been looking for one too! I have no idea what is a good or bad amount to spend on a Christmas tree. All I know is I want an LED prelit tree!

We are needing a new tree after 19 or 20 years using the same one! We use Blue LED (so cool) so I am up in the air. Thank you for providing this information.

      You’re welcome!

I just bought mine today at @Home. It was under $200 LED and color change. The edges of the needles are slightly fringed which helps it not look quite so fake. I was just tired of looking, and this one checked all my boxes. Big Lots had some good prices, but none of the ones in my store where LED. YMMV

About a month ago, my favorite “high end” hardware store had a warehouse sale and I got a gorgeous prelit tree that was $800 for $150!

This was a great post! Thank you! I’m looking to replace ours! P.S. I love seeing the Canva images! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I got a really beautiful one at sears a couple years ago. It was a good buy with sales they had going on and we always get compliments on it.

I thought maybe it was April Fools again when I saw the upside down tree!

I just ordered a 6ft fake tree for $24.99 plus $6.99 shipping on Amazon. (Homegear alpine 6ft Xmas/Christmas tree). I haven’t opened it yet but it has great reviews considering the price and I was looking for something cheap since I am decorating my place for the first time this year and have a lot of stuff to buy ๐Ÿ™‚ Surprisingly, it delivered in one day despite not being prime eligible.

I got a great 7.5′ LED tree with multi functions (changes from clear to multi color, blinks or steady) on black Friday from home depot last year for about $79 and am very pleased. I have 12′ ceilings and placed it in an urn to make it tall enough (about 10′!). I agree that it’s worthwhile to buy on black Friday as I think the regular price for my tree was $200 (although I’m not sure if it ever sold for that price).

Sam did they advertise the tree you got in their black fri ad?

  12. Rachel

I have been drooling over a flocked tree at kingofchristmas.com, does anyone have a discount code??? It has been in my cart for days.

  13. Deedee

In some leaked BF ads I’ve seen Christmas trees on sale. Michael’s specifically, hoping Hobby Lobby too *fingers crossed* lol

  14. Barbara

I just bought a flocked 6 footer from King of Christmas. I kept seeing *gorgeous* Instagram pics of their trees, so I couldn’t resist. I’d never heard of this company, so fingers crossed the tree looks good upon arrival.
