**DIY Simple Snowman Christmas Ornament
Do you wanna build a snowman?
Here’s how to turn a clear shatter-proof ball ornament into a CUTE & EASY snowman to hang on the Christmas tree! This is such a fun craft to make with the kids and the best part is most of the supplies can be found at the dollar store including the clear fillable ornaments, pipe cleaners, and faux snow.
You can also improvise with other craft materials such as cotton balls, white tinsel, shredded paper, mini marshmallows, salt, etc.
DIY Snowman Ornament
Supplies Needed:
Clear Fillable Plastic Ornaments
Faux Snow
Pipe Cleaners
Large Craft Pom Poms
Craft Googly Eyes
Black and Orange Adhesive Vinyl, Construction Paper, or Paint Pens
Hot Glue Gun & Sticks
Directions:
- Open top of ornament and carefully pour faux snow inside. Place top back on.
- Twist together two pipe cleaners of different colors and glue to top half of ornament.
- Glue poms on both sides as “earmuffs”.
- Glue on eyes.
- Attach nose and mouth details. (I cut the nose from orange adhesive vinyl, and used a hole punch to cut circles with black adhesive vinyl for mouth.)
So cute! Thanks Lina! I saw the ornaments at the Dollar Tree today, but I’m not creative and couldn’t think of what to fill them with. Going back to get some tomorrow!
Oh good! Have fun Ellen 😀
Was each one $1 there or did them come in multipacks? We are going caroling at a nursing home tomorrow and these would be great to hand out to the seniors living there!
They were 2 for a $1
Aw that’s so nice Jamie!
Great fun and cute idea, thx for sharing.
Sure- and thanks for stopping by!
Michaels has a pack of 24 for 19.99. I used a 50% off one item and got them for $10. My girls stuffed them with some brown crinkle paper (think shreds that are used in gift bags)- threw on some eyes and a red puff nose and pipe cleaner antlers..Rudolph!
How fun! Thanks for sharing Patty!
Ohh so cute!! But if I used mini-marshmellows, they wouldn’t make it home!! Yummy!!!
Thanks so the cute idea!!
The kids made these at my son’s kindergarten class party. The fake snow can be a little hard to work with because of static, so the kids used mini marshmallows. We had them count out a certain number (so it was a math activity). We also used black glittery self-adhesive craft foam for the eyes and mouth. It adds a little dimension to the ornament. Super cute!
I know this is old, but tiny pom poms would work well inside also. You could do all white for snow people or brown for reindeer. You could also use the pastel ones for Easter.
I think I’m gonna try this with some leftover rock salt for the snow, thanks Lina!
Oh have fun! These are cute! I’d maybe try and glue the top down just in case it’s too heavy! 👍⛄️
I thought about the weight, too. I think the salt will still work with the reinforced top. I have a bunch of rock salt leftover from baby shower decor that has glitter mixed in it so I’m hoping it will turn out. So cute!
Does anyone have a suggestion for which size ornaments to use? Amazon’s are all listed in mm & I’m terrible at picturing what a good size will be.
A friend of mine dic this & filled hers with little marshmallows!
Oh cute! Love that ❤️
What a cute idea! I plan to do this with my grandson to give to his parents.Thank you.
oh how fun! Thanks Nancy!
This is such a cute idea. Would like to do these with kindergarten class. What is the secret to working with the snow beads without it sticking to everything and making a mess?
Thanks! Hmm maybe use a small funnel, or maybe use a diff material like course salt?
Did y’all need to use a hot glue gun with this or does it work to just use a glue stick for the pom poms and eyes? I ask because I want the kids to be engaged in most of the craft 🙂
We used a paper punch and a black paper plate to make the black circles for the mouth. You could use any black paper. It is the perfect size circles for the mouth. We also used orange pipe cleaner bent into triangle shape for the nose. Cute !
A paper hole punch is what I meant.
How in all that’s holy did you get those wacky styrofoam snow balls in the plastic ornaments? Mine are all static
Hi Mary! You could try using a funnel or another white item such as salt. Hope that’s helps!☃️
