I wont end up getting billed at any point?

Nope. No payment info required πŸ™‚

    • Ash

Did it ask for your billing address? I was going to sign up for a free subscription and when it asked for my billing address I figured I would be receiving a paper bill at some point.

Highlights has made a statement that they will be changing their content to correspond with the times…just a heads up if anyone wants to check the content first since this is for little ones.

    • Sheila

Agreed. Research, if family values are important to you. I grew up on highlights & sadly my children won’t. Great content going in an very discouraging directionπŸ˜•

      • faith

        πŸ‘

        • faith

          True!

      • V

Family values are very important to me. Teaching my children to be honest, trustworthy, and kind doesn’t include teaching them to judge others that don’t live the same way.

        • Happymama

Love This, V! We should teach our kids to accept people with all differences. Sadly, some parents are so closed-minded that I feel for the kids. Thankfully my kids have been raised not to judge anyone. They have an Aunt/Aunt couple that love them just as much as other couples do in the family. Sorry people…kids are going to see it so you might as well accept it and move on. Thanks for the deal, Collin!

    • M

Thank you for bringing up that point. I also grew up with highlights but will no longer purchase them for my children.

    • Hannah

      Bummer! Good to know though.

    • Kim

Yes thank you for bringing that up. I will no longer be bringing this magazine into my home for free or pay for it.

    • Sally

I’m so glad y’all brought this up. I was on the fence about Highlights but will now become a full fledged subscriber! My friends and family will be so happy to subscribe to a more positive, more inclusive magazine for children as well!

      Thanks, y’all! πŸ™‚

      • Eddie

Me too Sally! My family values include seeing all kinds of families represented in the media we consume. It’s a shame that people are willing to discontinue a magazine because the publishers are committed to inclusion and diversity (and haven’t even done anything yet, they’ve just said they are committed to being reflective of all families).

      • A

Agreed! So happy they are becoming more inclusive and featuring all kinds of families!

      • suzanne

Inclusivity all the time…is the only answer. Love everyone. Respect everyone. It’s the civil rights of our time. Human kindness and peace people!

        • Michelle

Yes not that long ago you would never have seen an “African American” family in main stream media because at that time in our history those group of people were not treated with the same respect as the rest of us… Fast forward to today we would all be outraged if a company would NOT include them as the normal American family… Some day we will look back and realize how all this division is just nonsense… Love and respect everyone because FAMILY is what matters to children!

          • ResseCup

Thank you Michelle!!! I’ve AA, Black, Negro or whatever you want to call me. I love any learning opportunities that include people and/or characters that look like my nieces and nephews. Inclusion is great. It’s here and it’s not going anywhere. Representation matters.

            • ResseCup

By the way, thanks Colon. Just ordered for all my nieces and nephews ages 2-10. Recently had looked at a subscription but found it a bit expensive but three free months is great for the wintertimeβ˜ƒ

      • Sam

Me too! This makes me even more excited to order, and will continue subscribing after my 3 free issues!

        • april

Same here! I’m thrilled to see them including all families. ❀ I’ll definitely keep subscribing.

    • Amanda

Wow. You guys are what is wrong in the world. What happened to being inclusive of all people? Pathetic. I hope you one day recognize the kids you are trying to raise.

As a Christian mom of 5, you make me sick.

      • Tracey

Leviticus 18:22 identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin. Romans 1:26-27 declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent. First Corinthians 6:9 states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals β€œmarrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful.

As a Christian mother of a 17 year old, 15 year old, and 7 year old . . .just sayin

        • Julie

Thank you for pointing this out, they need to do a little more reading apparently. No highlights for me! If someone wants to live their life in sin, that is their choice, but to put it in a children’s magazine? Really?

          • Ann

This is what is very disappointing to me. God says to not judge one another. That is exactly what Julie is doing, therefore wouldn’t that be a sin.

            • Agnes

You are kidding me. Haha the word I live in full of ignorants.

            • Priscilla

God says not to judge one another is true but He does say to judge one another’s actions compared to His word- the Bible so we ourselfs can know what is right from wrong along with the Holy Sprit that is implanted in us by reading his word and being his children. Gods asks to love one another in His word which means we pray for them when we know they are in sin. Most of Romans talks about this. God have mercy on us all.

        • Matt

Did you seriously just quote a fairy tale to defend judging others?

          • Eddie

Matt – a fairy tale where someone says “let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Interesting that this part of the Bible isn’t discussed here!!

        • T

Pretty sure the Bible also encourages us to LOVE your neighbor and let God judge, NOT us. Jesus is about love, that’s God’s will.

        • Sandy

If you want to include Leviticus, be sure you remember to offer up salt when the plate comes around (2:13) and don’t go to church within 33 days of having a boy (12:4) among other ridiculous out of date rules. As far as Romans, not sure how up to date you are on your Biblical Greek but if you translate the original text it’s referring to worshiping shrines and idolatry not homosexuality. Akatharsian…the Biblical Greek word used…means shrine prostitution. And the Corinthians verse Greek is actually arsenokoites which translates much closer to masturbaters and rapists than homosexuals.

          • Agnes

Eddi and T . Thank you

          • Elle

            Sandy, AMEN!

        • Elle

Thank you Tracey, for being such a righteous disciple and strengthening my knowledge that organized religion is NOT for me! I’ll just go on continuing to love all good people who have kindness in their hearts. I pray you a Merry Christmas! Because to wish would be blasphemous!

        • Priscilla

Amen πŸ™ “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord”

        • rebecca

there are numerous Biblical prophets with concubines (Genesis 25:6, 2 Sam. 5:13). it was also Biblical law to marry your brother’s wife if he died (Deut. 25:5). you keep all the Biblical laws in your family? how scandalous!

      • Laura

I’m a mother of a 24 and 18 year old. But if I were to get this for my little ones, I wouldn’t want it to be All inclusive at that age. I want to be able to teach my children when I feel they are ready to learn it and in the way I want them to learn. It’s not about not accepting all. It’s in the manner we should choose as parents how our children should learn.

        • Sheila

Well said. That was all I was trying to share. Each family’s decision, not a publishers.

      • V

Doesn’t the Bible talk about not judging one another, that that is for God? It should not matter to anyone how others choose to live their life. This is something I have struggled with understanding.

    • Matt

Yes they have announced that they will try to be more inclusive and try to reflect real families more including gay parents…finally! As a straight male I can’t even believe some of these responses that you won’t get the magazine because of that?! Crazy world we live in…maybe we should all try not to pass on our own biases to our children-

      • Shelby

It violates our religious beliefs. I wouldn’t buy a magazine teaching my children about how it’s good to steal or lie just the same. I don’t condemn or hate anyone but its considered a sin in my faith. I really don’t see why it’s hard to accept someone not wanting to buy the magazine. You guys boycott whole stores, tv shows, etc just because they have some distant affiliation with a belief against homosexuality. (Chick fil a, fixer upper…)

        • Mary

Excellent point, Shelby! Certain groups feel entitled to “voice their opinions” and carry on like idiots…yet others are not offered that same right to freely share their opinions and..gasp… disagree!! (I bet a lot of these folks got participation trophies when they were kids πŸ˜‰).

      • Happymama

        Perfectly said, Matt. Thank you.

    • Michelle

I’m not exactly sure what you are try to say that their magazine will include but this is geared toward children… I have never had an issue with anything that they have produced…

      • Michelle

And yes I don’t have any issues if they INCLUDE all types of families… Again this is for children… Who are we to say what type of family they grow up in…

        • Eddie

Michelle, as the recent “controversy” is about the lack of depiction of families with LGBT parents, I assume that people are concerned that kids learning that some other kids have two mommies or two daddies will…turn them gay? Make them question their parents? Or they are accused of “flaunting their lifestyle” simply by existing, whereas no straight parents are ever accused of “flaunting their lifestyle.”

    • kelly

Thanks for simply stating this. I had seen this earlier on focus on the family, I loved getting these when I was a child & my MIL just had subscribed for my little one, so when the news came out about their changes that were going to be made, we cancelled the subscription.I don’t understand why people are angry over someone giving others with the same views & morals a heads up.

      • Eddie

The reason I decided to post responses was because people were dancing around what the issue was. You are more than welcome to not think gay parents shouldn’t be represented in Highlights magazine. You are more than welcome to tell other people that this change is coming. But I am more than welcome to say that I think it makes you look closed-minded and behind the times. And I am more than welcome to ask to please stop calling the inclusion of all kinds of families a “violation” of family values. My family is different than your family and I will not speak for you so please do not speak for me.

  30. ana

This is a little off topic, but I was wondering if someone could tell me the name of the site where we have gotten points for short surveys (via hip2save posts) to use for magazine subscriptions. I can’t remember πŸ™‚

    • Raquel

I love Recyclebank, they have a bunch of magazines, the activities to earn points are super easy!

    • J

I was just trying to remember that the other day! I got sports illustrated and sports illustrated kids and my family was very happy to receive them! I wish I could remember where it was from, I know I still had points left!

    • Heather F

I believe it was Reward Survey.

  31. vickiB

You do not know how excited I am! Thank you Collin and team! This is one of the best deals, my son is going to love this!

  32. Kellie

    Love Highlights!!! Thank you!!

  33. Mandy

    Thank you so much!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Mandy!

  34. Elaine

Normally I’m all for a freebie, but I think this is one instance I will choose to pay full price and buy a subscription for my son in support of their decision to be inclusive of all types of families. So excited! πŸ™‚

    • Holly

The Bible says one man with one woman. It also tells me to love my neighbor so I love everyone but can’t support decisions that go against what the creator commands of us.

      • Eddie

Highlights is not a religious publication. You should feel very free to support publications that fall in line with your religious beliefs.

      • Junip

Holly, I’m an atheist. There is no creator, the Bible is just a story, and I believe we should be inclusive in our society. This unsolicited comment is brought to you by your own unsolicited comment.

        • Steph

yes! honestly I think this whole comment section(except for the people who have commented to the actual deal) should be deleted! I came here to say ‘thanks for the heads up’ and I get this religious thrown in my face?!?! I don’t want to see this on a deal site!

    • Sam

Holly, you are quick to assume Elaine is a Christian and believes the Bible. And if she’s not, this probably isn’t the best conversion tactic.

  35. J

Thank you! Got an age appropriate magazine for each of my kids. Love the certificates you can print off to use as a gift! Perfect little extra!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re so welcome!

  36. Nisreen

Thanks Collin my son will be happy

  37. Sam

You know, if you disagree with what their content, you could just quietly move on, just as you would with any other deal you are not interested in. Are we quoting the bible on other deal threads that I’m not aware of?

Not all of us share your “Christian” values, and are excited to see some inclusion.

    • Ruthie

Wish there was a ” love” button for this. I don’t understand why some people have to try to force their views on other people.

      • faith

Standing up for what you believe is right is not “forcing a belief” on anyone. It’s called we each have a voice. (Instead of only one side having a voice.) Freedom of speech. Standing for something you believe in is not “hating”! Sometimes it seems like people look for opportunities to be offended. Everyone have freedom of an opinion and if that differs that’s their opinion, not “hating”….that word is thrown around way too much!

        • Michelle

No one on this site is making you take the magazine so there is no need for anyone to quote bible verses on the subject of a free trial… They haven’t even made the changes so again this has turned into something that it is not… My inlaws belong to a church that actually told their kids that women were being raped at Target and if u shop there you don’t love Jesus… really?!? This is a coupon saving site not save lost souls site… Let’s keep to the deals and not to your opinions…

  38. Dipz

    Thank you πŸ™‚

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      YW! πŸ˜‰

  39. Brenn

So excited to try this out for my almost 5 year old! I am trilled to be a part of a non-traditional family, to be friends with many non-traditional (as well as traditional) families, and to teach inclusion, tolerance, diversity, and acceptance everyday. Shame on those of you who don’t.

  40. Athena R

Thank you so much! My 3 year old son loves these.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Perfect! You’re very welcome!

  41. Eddie

My local library has a magazine app called Zinio. We get access to a bunch of current magazines (Highlights is one of them) and then you can read them within the app on your tablet. Might be worth looking into your local library’s digital magazine subscriptions, if you have a device and don’t mind your kid using it to read!

  42. Sara

FYI – was looking to get a bit more information on which one would be the best for my daughter’s age. A lot of Amazon reviewers state that once you’re on their mailing list you’ll receive puzzles, small books, etc. that you’d assume are free or gifts (since you didn’t order them). Some people throw them away thinking they are junk mail. Then they get bills for these items with threatens to go to collections (since they weren’t returned/sent back). Most people just pay to avoid the hassle.

This has not happened to me, but quite a few reviewers noted this. I was going to sign up, but don’t want to lose track of random “invoices” and items, then having to pay for them.

    • Zimme

If you’re going to sign up, just make sure to contact customer service as soon as you get the statement! I had to send back the issue I was being charged for, return the billing statement with cancel on it, and then a follow up call to customer service to make sure it was cancelled. It may be different this go around–but, they have no problem sending out bills even though you don’t provide a credit card!

    • Junip

I actually got an issue of Hello in the mail addressed to my 17 month old recently. I’d never heard of them before, didn’t sign up, and I have no idea how they got my daughter’s name and address. I guess now I should be in the lookout to make sure they don’t send a bill. Thanks for the info.

  43. corkster20@aol.com

I didn’t even know they had a magazine for a child as young as my son! Glad I get to try it out! And proud to support a magazine that includes all families! Thank you Collin!

  44. Holly Dunbar

Thanks it was so easy I think my daughter will love them!

  45. Kathy

    Thank you!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Kathy!

  46. AR

    Thank you so much!

  47. sban

Do you I need to cancel subscription after 3 months?

  48. Maori

But what is the definition of family anymore? How about a family with 1 dad and 4 moms? Is highlights going to be inclusive of that kind of family too? Not enough polygamists represented!

    • Sam

Lol! Excellent!!Don’t forget to include the animals….Some people really love their animals! πŸ˜‚πŸ™Š

  49. Elle

Thanks Collin! Looks like a great deal on a great magazine:)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Happy you could snag the offer Elle! YW!

  50. TEAH

Thank you so much. My Son gets the Hello and loves it. I’ve been wanting to change his subscription to High five but don’t know if he’s ready yet. What a perfect way to find out!
