Try soaking gummy bears in your favorite liquor for a new spin on cocktails! They taste super yummy and are very easy to prepare in advance.

These alcohol gummy bears pack a punch!

Gummy bears happen to be my favorite candy, so I was excited to try this and it did not disappoint! In fact, I can see how it would be easy to overindulge in these so be careful and responsible when enjoying! 😉

Hip Tip: I used coconut rum for a sweet and tropical flavor, but you could also have fun experimenting with different flavors of alcohol. Vodka-soaked gummy bears make a tasty alternative!

Plus, you could also try out other candies, like gummy Lifesavers, Swedish Fish, or Twizzler Gummies!

What a fun treat for a party and a great alternative to Jell-O shots!

I love how these rummy bears puff up because of the liquor and they taste great! I feel like they are optimal about a day after soaking and would be super fun to make ahead and have at your next gathering, holiday celebration, or New Year’s Eve party.

Speaking of Sugar-Free Gummy Bears…

If you need a little cheering up or just some laughs, then you have to check out the many reviews of various sugar-free gummy bears over on Amazon. I kid you not, I was cackling at some of the funny things the reviewers had to say. Apparently, if you eat too many sugar-free gummy bears it causes gastric distress. Check out a few of my favorite comments from the reviews:

“Looking for a sleepless night hugging the toilet and a quick colon cleanse? Look no further.”

“To say they make gas would be an understatement….I ended up sounding like the horn section of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the show went on for hours.”

“Want to clear the work day? If you put these out as break room snacks in the morning; by the afternoon both the office (and your bowels) will be empty by noon.”

” I was extremely surprised to find out that shortly after eating a handful of these sugar-free gummy bears, I was fighting for my dear life, dignity, and everything in between.”

“If I don’t come out of the bathroom in an hour tell Harry, my cat, that I love him.”

I love that you got to cackle at the review comments. People are so creative & funny at the same time. I miss other human beings

  2. Emily

I used to make these all the time in college! Super good! They work best with gummy bears, because the larger gummies (like worms or the gummy octopuses) tend to fall apart when they soak up the liquor. The gummies will get HUGE by the way (they almost triple in size).

    Have fun and CHEERS! 🙂

  3. Penny K

    Vanilla vodka works great too!

  4. Bunny

Discard leftover infused rum?!?! I don’t think so 😂

    • Sophie

      😂😂😂😂

  5. c melendez

    Just add more gummies.

  6. ToriSC

Do these get super sticky when wet? Or can you dry them out some?

    • Brittany

They become almost like a jello consistency.

  7. Amy

I also used to make these all the time in college (don’t tell my mom). We used vodka but I bet these are even better 😊

  8. Chris

I know I am biased since we live not too far from the factory, but the gummy bears shown (with an A on the bellies) are made by the family owned Albanese Candy factory and are SUPERIOR in taste and texture to other brands. They outperform for this recipe as well. (some of the tropical flavors, like pineapple, are AMAZING with Malibu) Happy Holidays H2S family!!

    • Nicky

I love that brand of gummies!!

    • JenH

They are the only gummies to buy! (as I’m opening my delivery today of the 5 lbs bag from Amazon 😏) I couldn’t imagine living in the same town!!

    • podvintage

They are THE best! So happy that our Sprouts carry them.

  9. Melie

On the subject of festive alcohol, Bailey’s style Irish cream is super easy to make. There are lots of recipes online that include a bit of cocoa powder, but I just do equal parts whiskey, sweetened condensed milk, and cream with a splash of vanilla. Being able to make just the quantity I need without a giant bottle taking up space in my fridge is a game changer, not to mention being able to adjust how sweet/creamy/boozy it is.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yummy sounds great Melie! Thanks for sharing 🙌

    • Chloe

I didn’t know such a thing was possible. Your comment has made this post a gold mine for me!

  10. ATM

Could you make these with Swedish fish? I love these

    • Kellie Z

Yes, it says you can use Swedish Fish, gummy lifesavers or Twizzler bites.

  11. Tia

Fireball and gummy worms are the best!

  12. MrsBK

For those that like rum and coke try the haribo gummy cola bottles soaked in rum 👌😋

  13. kindercuellar

Fireball with Cinnamon Bears are SO delicious. You’re welcome.

  14. grason

    Too many people drink

    • MommySpendsLess

How many people drink? What is the allow-able number of drinking people?
      🙂

      • Katrina

        🤣👏

    • alee79

I don’t drink but this is something fun to do for a special occasion

  15. Smellyann

As much as I would love to do this, with three gummy-crazy teenagers in the house, I think that would be tempting fate!

  16. Lexy

I think I went out to Walmart on the 23rd and they were all wiped out of gummy bears!!!!

    • Jen

Yep! Gummy bears & other candies are really popular to make a Mexican treat, gummies with Chili powder & chamoy (a

  17. chenga57

Has anyone done this with tequila?

  18. Christine

I make these in the summer at the cook outs and call them Adult Vitamins! 😂🤣

  19. Observant Mom

I think this is irresponsible to do if you have kids that are not of drinking age. Kids will help themselves if you leave these in sight.

    • Christine

News Flash! You are not the only responsible adult on the planet. They are not around children. Save your judgmental comments for a Mommy Blog! Have a great New Year!

    • lady

You’re also probably the kind of mom that protests detergent pods. Here’s a trick I use as a mom! WATCH YOUR DAMN KIDS. You’re welcome!

      • Observant Mom

Since you are wondering about my laundry habits… I don’t use pods because I like to measure out how much detergent I use. Most people tend to use too much detergent. As for watching my kids, my kids are grown and guess what?! They are responsible adults 😊

      • Susi

        👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    • Tiffany

I think that’s a bold comment to make. We hosted a holiday party yesterday, my kids 4 and 8 were there. And the ONLY kids. I explained to them that the adults were drinking drinks that looked cool, fun and yummy, but were dangerous to little kids. I then gave them their own cool drinks. Guess what, adults drank alcohol, kids didn’t.

I get the concern, but the overall comment should be, IF you do this, make sure your kids understand what you’re doing and WHY they cannot.

Kids are kids and adults are adults. Sometimes they do intermingle but kids need to recognize as well that sometimes adults are adults and adult things are for adults.

    • Csandst

Just label it “adults only” and put them where kids can’t get to them.

  20. Treesha Corade

I love snacking on gummy bears at work. I am going to try this and no one would at work would ever know I’m snacking on anything different.

  21. ATM

I did some with flavored vodka and the original gummy bears brand, however they never really became soft and when they did they ended up melting all forming like jello consistency, any tips!? What did i do wrong? Help

    • Alejandra Martin

i love when this happens! Move them to the fridge, they will harden right back up into one BIG gummy. Slide them apart and eat as boozy cubes. We do this on purpose and we call them stained glass gummy cubes! Some kids of alcohol and gummies just react like this.

To keep it from happening in the future, place the whole thing in the fridge and the gummies won’t melt into the alcohol, =)

  22. catmom

I’m going to try Jim Beam Vanilla Bourbon for one batch and Wolf’s Pecan Bourbon on another. No kids in our house..just responsible adults who use detergent pods!

    • Christine

Wolf’s Pecan Bourbon sounds awesome! I’m on a search to find this on the east coast. Thanks Catmom from another responsible adult pod detergent user ….LOL

  23. Jody

After reading this post last week, I gave some hard-to-buy-for adults on my Christmas list a bag of gummy bears and a bottle of Malibu rum along with the ‘recipe’. Everyone loved it! Thanks H2S for helping me wrap up my list!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Wow I love this idea! Thanks Jody!

  24. Emily

In case anyone was curious, I tried this for a friend’s Christmas party. I used Cherry vodka (disgusting), Run (not as bad, but still gross), and finally champagne (definitely the best tasting!) Thanks for the idea. Even the gross ones were fun because we laughed at each person’s reactions! lol

  25. Alejandra M

Sooooo… use vodka (we use tito’s, not sure if this happens with other kinds), cover the gummies, leave on the counter or in a cupboard for 48 hours. Stir occasionally. The gummies will MELT! Then, place into the fridge and the whole continer will harden like one huge gummy! Then slide into cubes and enjoy! We call them stained class gummy squares.

  26. Donna

    Black cherry rum is great!

  27. AngieM

It makes me sad that the first thing people think about is alcohol for new years

    • Csandst1

      Pray for them

  28. Jane

I just made these! Looking forward to seeing how they turn out! Thank you, Lina =)
