Calling All JCPenney Cardholders!

If you shopped at JCPenney between November 5th, 2010 and January 31st, 2012, you may have received an automatic credit to your account as the result of the Spann v. JCPenney Corporation, Inc. Class Action Lawsuit.

Check your email inbox for an email coming from noreply@hefflerclaims.com with the subject line, “JCPenney Class Action email – Store Credit“. This credit has no expiration and will stack with any promotional discount.

Here’s what readers had to say…

“I’m pretty sure you posted about the JCPenney Class Action Suit. I got a settlement today for $262 via email!”

“Hi, If you have a JCP card, you may have a settlement coming your way. I got one today. I thought it might be a spam – but I checked it out and I received a gift card for over $100! I don’t remember filling out a claim, so it may just be for all cardholders.”

“Hi Collin I just received an email saying they reached a settlement and I got a credit of $175 with a card number and pin to use online 😊🙌🏽”

Be sure to come back and let us know if you received a credit!

(Thanks, Crystal, Gretchen & Diana!)

Totally forgot about this until I received a check in the mail yesterday for $87.50! What an awesome surprise! I also did NOT have a JCP rewards card or credit card. 😀

  2. Let

    I got $875.00!!! How? Why? I don’t know.

    • Let

I really don’t shop there too much.

      • Let

The $875.00 was a check, I chose cash vs. the JCP credit.

I have shopped and had credit card there longer than 2010 and my friends have all received a credit and I haven’t
wondering why. Lawyer Hempelle noted on credits. Thanks

From my limited research, I figured it’s people who bought furniture or something else with the JCP brand label on it.

I received an email with a card number and pin, can i use this in store?

    • carmen

I believe the directions state that the credit is for online purchases, but….
      (1) elsewhere on this thread:
“Jeff says: You can use it in store. You just need an app like Samsung pay, Android pay or Gift app. Upload it manually and it turns it into a scannable gift card…”

      (2) I also read that someone printed out the number and pin and was able to enter it into the keypad at the store, but that might depend on having a friendly and trustworthy cashier.

      (3) Another option is to buy something then return it to get a physical store merchandise card. Good luck and congrats! 🙂

I haven’t received a credit. I wonder if I deleted it??? Is there a site that I can check?

  6. Patti foster

Hi there! Have you been able to contact them? You can click through the link above to find the contact options. I did find this number – 855-731-7497 Hope this helps!

    • carmen

Patti: Are you saying that you already purchased something with the entire credit you received? What is it exactly that you are waiting for?
If you don’t think your order went through, you should contact JCPenney or try to look up your order status on their website.
If you’re not sure if your code was applied, you may be able to cancel your order or return it for a full refund (depending on when/what you ordered)…you should also contact JCPenney directly in that case.

If you have a gift card code and want to see if it’s still good, YOU CAN TEST IT OUT without using it: Go to JCP.com, put something in the cart, click checkout (skip the promo code box), pick a shipping address, click CONTINUE TO PAYMENT and click where it says: “Use a JCPenney gift card.” After you hit APPLY, it should show you if your code is still valid. If your code is still good, you can remove it if you’re not ready to use it yet.

I did receive the email with a credit to shop at JC Pennys. I’ve spent most of it, but remember having a bit of credit still left on it. I cannot find my gift card number. Is there a place I can contact to see about the credit I have left?

  8. Michael Fittro

I never heard back from J C Penny’s about any credit I might have been entitled from lawsuit.

  9. Michael Fittro

I never received credit we were entitled from the lawsuit .
