These are *really* good quick oats. We order these regularly! They’re much better than Quaker, IMHO.

You can make your own “packet oatmeal” with these by scooping an appropriate serving into zippie bags, adding dried fruit, walnuts, cinnamon, and a small bit of sweeter. We make a week’s worth of packets each Sunday, so that we can grab on in the morning, dump it in a bowl add water, microwave and be done. It’s so much better than the over-sugary, gross Quaker instant packets.

Awesome! Thanks for the great tip Maggie!

Wow, this is awesome! Thanks for the heads up! Just went and purchased these. My kids love oatmeal, and 8 lbs will last us a long time. 😂. Can’t beat the price at $1.47/lb for good quality oats!!

    • Elsa

Oh, and this is negligible, but I got them for $11.76. 😁

      You’re so welcome!

Costco is selling Bob’s Red Mill – organic quick cooking Steel Cut Oats 7 lb $7.99 – $1.14/lb different type.

Off topic but steel cut oats is great for keeping up your milk supply in breastfeeding mothers.

      • Arlina

Oats in general helps keep up milk supply. I used to add brewers yeast in mine when it started to go low. Also, milk thistle capsules or drops. But go slow since it may cause gassiness, in you and baby

Which is better the rolled or steel for a baby? I am going to start making him oatmeal. I purchased the costco one but wondering if this is better?

    • Kris

I just started my son on steel oats. They are more nutritious for you. I just purée them up a bit and add a little breast milk or water!

Has anyone every used the ground flaxseed meal? Can you use it in place of corn meal? I love flaxseed but have never seen it in a meal form.

    • Maggie

Yes, I’ve used the flax meal. I do NOT recommend buying a big supply though — it loses effectiveness quickly once ground, has to be stored in the fridge or freezer, and should be used up within a few months. Whole flax seeds that you grind yourself in a coffee or spice grinder last a long time, but once they’re ground, there’s a narrow window to use them and get the big nutritional punch out of them.

I would not use flax to replace corn meal. It’s an excellent egg replacer in baked goods, mixed with a little water, though.

I love their Gluten free chocolate chip cookie mix. I buy it from Albertson’s
