Cricut Access gives you instant access to over 30,000 images, 1,000 projects, and 370 fonts, gives you 10% off all purchases and you can cancel anytime!

Check out this comment from Lorelei…

If you buy Cricut Access, which is $9.99/month, you can get an extra 10% off these prices. You should buy Cricut Access first on its own BEFORE placing the order for the actual machine with the CRICUTNEWBIES code. I did this exact scenario last week and got the Deluxe Set (now out of stock) for $168.29 and it would have been $186.99 with just the 15% off code (reg. $399.94)!

I paid $10 for Cricut Access, but still saved more than $10 if I had just used the 15% off code. Also, now I get a month to try out Cricut Access where I can get a lot of pre-made designs for free! If you’re planning on getting Cricut Access anyway, this is a good way to save more money. Designs that are free for Cricut Access members are denoted with the green “a”. Otherwise, you can buy designs in a la carte as well.

With that being said, don’t miss these deals:

Can anyone recommend one of these for a beginner? I am mainly interested in creating customized iron-ons for sweatshirts and t-shirts. Thank you so much!!!!!!

    • Emily

Hi Pearl! For custom iron ons, the cricut explore cuts iron on vinyl really nicely. πŸ™‚ The explore cuts the best, I think (the expression is a little wonky).

  2. Nancy

I just tried to use the code CRICUTNEWBIES but it doesn’t work??😒

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hmm, It is still applying for me as I head to checkout. Are you able to try it in a different browser?

  3. mlb939802

I’m also a beginner and wondering whether I should get the explore or the air? Any help?

    • Lorelei

The only difference between the Explore and the Air is that the Air can do bluetooth (so you can use your smartphone or tablet with the machine) and the Explore cannot. However, you can buy an adapter to make the Explore do bluetooth. The Explore isn’t for sale on the website anymore, though, so it might be hard to find a new one. It will probably be cheaper to get the Explore if you can find someone selling it used, but, it will be used. In my opinion, the difference between the two would be your budget and if you’re okay with finding a used or refurbished machine. For me, I prefer buying new for machines that have a lot of moving parts.

The Explore One cannot do bluetooth and also does not have the dual tool head, so you can’t do draw/score and cut at the same time. You’ll have to put the project through the machine twice if you want to do something that involves both.

i have a cricut explore and i do iron ons all the time (I have a small etsy shop). There is a learning curve to use the cricut software but there are tons of you tube videos out there that are helpful! The main thing with iron ons is to make sure your iron is really hot and you use enough pressure to apply the decal.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for the helpful feedback Julie! Good to know!

  5. Mimi

Get the Air people! No need for a physical connection to your computer. The Airs have Bluetooth connections for the same price of buying a Bluetooth connecter for the non-Bluetooth machines. This means you can pull up the Design Space app from any device and send the project to your Explorer Air for cutting. It’s awesome!

    • Denise

Mimi, does the Air require a PC or can you do all the design with the app on the phone and still send and cut to cricut – avoiding pc completely? Thanks!

      • Bridget

You can avoid the PC with the mobile apps, but in my own experience the PC worked so much smoother. It could be just my experience on the Ipad, but it was much more difficult on there for me.

      • Brittany

I prefer the Ipad app over the PC. It is simpler to navigate and seems to crash less than Design Space on the computer. The only thing that you can do on the computer but not the app, is upload images.

    • Brittany

Agreed! Do not waste your time or money on the One. Just go on ahead and get the Air. I have read in forums about people having the One and purchasing the bluetooth adapter, but the adapter wouldn’t work or would only work sometimes. The air also has duel housing-one for your blade and the other for pens or scoring. The One only has one house, so if you want to write and cut, you will have to stop and change out the blade and pen, which obviously can take up some time.

  6. Nancy

So I tried again I am checkout and am entering it under discount codes in all caps but it doesn’t apply it it just says not valid? I am trying in a different browser. I must be doing something wrong

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So strange. Are you typing it in or using copy & paste?

    • Lorelei

Is there a circut explore one or air machine in your cart (even in a bundle)? The coupon doesn’t work on the Air 2 or any orders without a machine.

  7. Nancy

Does it work for Explore Air 2

    • Nancy

Sorry doesn’t. So what is the difference between the Explore Air and Explore Air 2 I compared them on the site looks like the 2 cuts 2 x faster. Is that the only difference? Thanks ladies for your help! I bought a Expression 2 from a friend and was sad because it doesn’t work on Cricut access or the free projects.

      • Brittany

It cuts faster. That is it.

      • Lorelei

The Air 2 cuts “up to” 2x faster than the Air. I saw on some blogs while I was researching the machines that this was actually only 30-60 seconds for most designs. One blogger cut out a doily type design (a circle with lace-like pattern inside) and the Air 2 was about 2 min, 10 second compared to the Air at 2 min, 40 seconds.

Get vinyl off of Amazon. I love Michaels Recollections solid color cardstock, which is $2 for a 48-50 pack, size 8.5″x11″. It is good, quality card stock. I recommend their Hot Buys patterned card stock packs which retail normally at $19.99, but every few weeks go on sale for $5-$6. The patterns are amazing and they are constantly getting news. The only problem is that they only stock a pattern once or twice before they get a new, different pattern in. So of you see one that you love, I would snatch it up. Stay away from Cricut blades-they are EXPENSIVE and rapidly dull. Here is a link to the blades I get. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VDFMUDG/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
One blade usually lasts me for 2+ months with me using my machine several times a week on large projects and cutting everything from card stock, vinyl, glitter card stock, acetate, and so on. I last ordered a pack in June 2016 and I believe I still have one more blade left before I will need to order again. Btw, other pens and markers will fit in your Explore besides their brand. Just look up compatible markers with Cricut on Youtube. You can also retack your mats once they lose their stickiness, instead of buying a new one. Clean it really well, tape off the edges with masking tape, and spray lightly with Krylon Easy Tack. This can be found out Michael’s (use a coupon) and I think O have seen it at Walmart in the crafting section.

      • Anna

Thanks for the helpful info! I just ordered the air and I don’t even know where to start….

  8. Nancy

Just tried it again only works for Cricut Explore Air not for 2.

    • leen

nancy I tried the code on the circuit air and it wont work for me have it ended already

  9. Sarah

How long is this deal, anyone know? I’m reading all the suggestions too…trying to decide which would be best if I can budget it before it’s gone

    • Lorelei

I contacted Cricut Support to ask and they told me April 1, 2017! Companies always reserve the right to end the deal early, though. They claim that the coupon code has been active since Oct 1, 2016, but everything online I saw only started showing this coupon code in the past couple weeks so I’m not sure.

  10. Sara

Help! So after 10 months I’m inches away from owing a new home. I promised myself a cricut as a housewarming gift. We haven’t closed yet. Do I pull the trigger or am I jinxing myself?

    • Julie

Buy it!! You will love it!! Join the cricut facebook pages for tips and help. I’ve had a cricut for 6 years and the explore for 2+ years and it’s worth every penny!

  11. Arica

I too am trying to figure out which one to get! After reading most of the comments, I am leaning toward the explore air. I am totally new to the cricut but have wanted one forever! If I go with the air, do I need a bundle package? Would I really use all of the extra stuff included?

    • Kathryn

You can’t go wrong with any Explore. I’d skip the bundle. I have products I like more than Cricut brand. The machine is awesome though

      • Leslie Ramey

What other brands can you use? Thanks.

    • Lorelei

You don’t need the bundle, but if you get one it depends on how you would use be using the machine. If you buy just the Air machine, it comes with a blade, a pen, and a cutting mat already which is really all you need to get it working out of the box! Brittany, another commenter here, gave suggestions on an alternate brand of blades to use and how to retack the cutting mat so you can use it for longer. I personally bought a bundle because the stuff that was included in the bundle price was cheaper than I could find the items (including off brand) for online/in my area. Also, you’ll need to take into consideration your threshold for time spend vs convenience. For example, how much time it would take to retack a mat (Krylon adhesive takes 3hrs to be dry to touch) vs the convenience of getting another mat.

  12. Tami

I have a silhouette cameo and love it!! Have used a cricut only once but would check into both

  13. Nicky Williams

I can’t get the explore air to drop below $147…What am I doing wrong??

  14. leen

the code wont work for me on the air πŸ™

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Are you able to try it in a different browser? I am still finding the code to be valid.

  15. Lorelei

Thank you for featuring my comment! I’m glad that I can help some people save money!

I contacted Cricut to ask about the terms and conditions of the coupon code and this is what Cricut Support told me:
    15% off (excluding Access) + Free Shipping (EXCLUDES AIR 2) 1-Oct-16 1-Apr-17

    • Crystal j Goldman

So can you not use the 15% off and the Access 10% off together then?

      • lorelei

You can use the Access 10% off and the 15% code together. You cannot use the 15% off code to buy access.

  16. Elaine Jaskolka Guy

Thanks Collin, I have been looking at these for some time now, husband has been encouraging me to get one, saw this post and went for broke and got the “Everything” bundle. Love your site.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So glad to hear that! Thanks for the sweet feedback! You’re very welcome!

  17. Michele

I just completed my order for the Ultimate bundle. I subscribed to the monthly subscription. It has you create an account – so I made sure I was signed in before purchasing the machine. I saw my name in the top right corner, so I knew I was signed in. I selected the bundle package and added it to my cart. It automatically took the 10% off – because I was signed in, so it knew I was a member. Then I added the CRICUTNEWBIES code & selected the free shipping option. Brought me to the exact price that is advertised on this website.

    • Crystal Goldman

Thank you so much! I just order the Cricut Explore Air Machine + EVERYTHING Starter Set ! I can’t wait to use this. Thank you again for your help. πŸ™‚
