Not to spoil everyones excitement but in December when Amazon was doing a bunch of lightning deals on giftcards I purchased a TGI Fridays $50 giftcard for $40 and received it, checked the balance and then put it away until last week. Hubby, son and I went there for dinner and when we tried to pay using the giftcard the waitress told us it had a zero balance. This was a card that did not have a hidden pin which you scratch off. We were told that on 1/2/17 someone in another state used our card. Amazon would not refund our money and neither would Fridays. So I guess what I am saying is if you get a card with all of the numbers exposed your possibly taking a chance. Good luck!
Hmmm. I’m a little suspicious of Amazon these days. One morning I got an email from Amazon.com.uk telling me that the email for my Amazon.com US account had been successfully changed. I assumed someone was phishing, so I checked my Amazon account, and I could not sign in. Amazon fixed it for me quickly, and I checked my account only to find an order for a $300 box of Legos to be delivered to the West Coast (I am on the East Coast). Amazon cancelled the order and was supposed to be investigating it. I suspect an Amazon employee. I had been carrying a large GC balance for quite a while with no recent Amazon activity.
I signed up for an Amazon credit card (could be used elsewhere also) a few years ago. Only placed 1 order on it with Amazon and a few months later I had a fraud issue on that credit card (someone buying magazines in Puerto Rico). Since I only used it once on Amazon and never activated the card when it came, it was clearly a breach on Amazon’s side. They denied it and gave me a lot of grief when I asked to cancel the card. Beware!
I have had my Amazon CC for 9 years, so has my husband. He’s never had an issue. I had one issue with my Walmart.com account being hacked and orders being placed. They immediately removed the charges from my account.
Somewhat similar thing happened. Whole Foods gift card came up with a zero balance but Amazon sent a new one right away.

Weird that Amazon wouldn’t refund you, but your credit card company certainly will. Call them if you haven’t already.
I wonder…I have noticed that a lot of the gift cards are supplied by a third party but fulfilled by Amazon. I wonder if that creates a vulnerability?
