Seventh Generation Settlement: Money Back For Qualifying Purchases (No Receipts Required)

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

Do you use Seventh Generation products? Read this!

If you purchased Seventh Generation products between November 14th, 2010 and October 12th, 2016, you may be eligible for payment from a class action settlement. See the long list of eligible products here including baby products, laundry products, dishwashing products, personal care items, and household cleaning items.

No proof of purchase is required…

You may seek reimbursement for 50% of the average purchase price for each of the eligible products you purchased (up to 10 total products) without a receipt. Or provide proof of purchase for a 100% refund. Fill out the claim form here for reimbursement.

Are you wondering what this settlement is about?

The Seventh Generation class action lawsuit takes issue with the labeling of certain products as “natural,” “non-toxic,” and/or “hypoallergenic.” Although the company denies the claims are valid, they have agreed to pay a settlement fee to avoid further legal costs.

It looks like you only qualify for most items if you bought them in six or eight packs? Is that what everyone else is seeing?

    • Jen

That is what I see too
I have bought a whole lot of dish soap but not in an 8 pack

    • Lindsey

That’s what it looks like to me. I wonder why would they only offer money back on the multi packs and not individual items purchased?

    • ashley

Well if you bought 8 singles that equals one 8 pack and so on. Just do it like that

      • Vivian

But I don’t want receipts for that to get rejected

      • me

I would not recommend being dishonest about quantities purchased – this is a legally binding contract. I know “they would never know” but….

SECTION D: ATTESTATION UNDER PENALTY OF PERJURY

By checking the box below, I declare under penalty of perjury, that the information provided in this Claim Form is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, and that I purchased the SVG Product(s) claimed above during the Class Period for personal or household use and not for resale. I understand that my Claim Form may be subject to audit, verification, and Court review.

Thanks! I have bought soo many Seventh Generation products in that time frame. I unfortunately no longer have any receipts, but I’m more than happy with what they are giving out. I would’ve never known about this if it wasn’t posted on hip2save. 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re very welcome Moria!

I wish Target gave you access to your red card purchases online like they have in their own systems. If they did I could send a copy with my clain and would probably get the maximum allowed from this suit, but since I don’t have any receipts (yet, I need to go on a hunt through the junk drawers in the house) I’ll be getting the minimum. Such a bummer. I still like their products though, still much better than others with tons of other mysterious ingredients.

So many companies are taking advantage of costumers who want to use good, clean products and free of dangerous chemicals! Unless we buy certified Organic, the hormone free, cage free, grass fed, natural and so on labels do not guaranty such claim. It takes a lot to obtain an usda organic certification on a product and that is why it expensive to buy, but worth it!

  5. Joanne

How many of us keep our receipts of kitchen/bath purchases for 7 years? Unreal…

  6. Erika

I ordered tons of this on target online subscription last year September and the rest in store.. so ms Collin how can I provide proof from online purchases ty for your help..and ty for posting these. God bless and more power to the h2s crew😍

    • JenniferS

      Erika,
Go through your email for order confirmations of past orders. Cut and paste into a word document with dates and total amounts included. I’ve done this for the Method cleaning product class action that came out last month. Hope this helps you 🙂

  7. Robyn

I’m so torn on this one – I will not participate despite 95% of our home care products being Seventh Generation. I have researched their products and feel that I have not been deceived by the labeling, and encourage others to not cash in on this if they feel the same. My two cents 🙂

    • Seren

I agree, all I use and based on my research it’s the cleanest (chemical wise) commercial product u can buy.

    • Sally

I feel the same. I use dish and laundry products and still feel like I am making the right choice towards a healthier planet and for my family. Lately I noticed the dish soap on counters on TV sitcoms (big bang theory) and in a movie (I think it was bad moms) and those people are smart so it reinforced my feelings about my opinion.

    • Kristin

Agreed Robyn. I’m not a fan of all these class action suits just to milk money from these companies. Unless it’s a legitimate claim that caused actual harm, it’s just a scheme to make easy money. Not to mention the more the company pays out, the more they have to make up for and that usually means increasing costs of their products. 🙁

      • Mel

I’m wondering if whoever started this lawsuit, did so b/c they sold off to Unilever? That means Unilever will probably foot the bill, therefore making their products go up in price to compensate for 7th Gen this class action.

Oh yeah, I noticed on Big Bang the dish bottle and told my husband, look, their using 7th Gen I bet! What’s funny is that all their name brands are tapped off or renamed, but you can still tell their drinking Fiji water or Sprite or whatever. Compared to Friends, where you can pick out everything in Monica’s cubbard and on top of the boys fridge. In very later seasons, they started taping off the names!

    • Elissa

I agree. It is all we use here as well for household products. My son has serious sensitivities and requires clean products. This company fits the bill. While I live to find a good deal on the product, I will not participate in this. It would compromise my integrity personally. The product has been worth every penny spent in our house and I will continue to purchase. I hope this does not make prices go up for families like us who NEED this product.

    • Stacie

I like these products as well – because of personal experience and independent reviews – and won’t be participating. Thanks for speaking up!

  8. Jennifer

FYI, if any of the purchases were through Amazon, you can download a copy of your invoice and submit it.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the helpful tip! Good to know!

  9. Erika

Hi guys is it only eligible per package?. I mean how about individually purchased?

  10. Melloddie

Ugh I just cleaned and threw away target receipts 2 weeks ago. Was only able to salvage 2 from ibotta m and SavingStar. Hopefully they’ll accept those.

  11. Cece

Oh really?! Care to share, please! 🙂

    • ohiogirl

The Seventh Generation customer service rep I spoke with confirmed they are “pro-abortion”…his exact words. I was totally shocked to say the least, given their extensive line of baby products and cleaning products which are marketed to be safe to use around children.

      • Katie D.

“Pro-abortion”? Who says that? If Seventh Generation stands up for women’s reproductive health I am happy.

  12. Jerri

Thank you SOOOO much! Would have never known about this if it were not for Hip2Save!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Jerri!

  13. Beth

Did anyone else have trouble submitting? I’ve refilled it out seeveral times and it keeps having an error.

    • Kristyn Olarey

Yes, I cant get it to go through either

      • J

were you ever able to get through? I’ve tried to submit about 7-8 times this morning and still won’t go through. Is mailing a better option?

        • kristyn

No I tried for a couple days and then just mailed it in. It’s the last day so I’d just get it postmarked today.

  14. Evette

ok, i thought it says, you can get half of value without documentation. So, you don’t really need to show receipts……unless you want full value

  15. Metronoma

I filled this form out months ago, and the milk one, too, but still no news or refunds… Any idea why?

    • Mel

Class Actions take a while, up to a year, sometimes longer before they’re settled and checks are disbursed. The only one I’m waiting on is from Starkis, which I submitted that one back in August of 2015!! I just googled to see if there have been any updates and it says that the settlement still hasn’t been finalized and to be patient! So yeah, these things take time!

    • riss

I was just thinking of the milk class action lawsuit….

  16. Yoojin1008

Awesome! I bought so much from Amazon and have access to all my receipts.

  17. AE

Ugh my amazon order for diapers and wipes was placed on October 16….2 days after the cut off 😕
