HOT! Getting Toasty! Lukewarm Starting To Melt Ice Ice Baby

Have you ever tried to make dinner and then realized the oven was broken?

It happened to me this week, but luckily my countertop NuWave Oven saved the day! It works as a handy back up oven and I’ve been using it a lot this week which is reminding me why I LOVE it.

The NuWave cooks food about 50% faster and uses about 75% less energy than the actual oven.

For instance, these roasted sweet potatoes cooked for just 10 minutes using the NuWave! Look how brown and perfect they are! And literally you just set the cook time for 10 minutes and leave it. There’s no preheating time.

These chicken tenders were crispy and done in just 15 minutes. I really love the texture the NuWave produces because the air is circulated underneath and not just on top. The meat stays juicy inside while the outside is crispy.

The Nuwave is also a versatile appliance because you can use other oven safe dishes inside it. I cooked an enchilada casserole using the Nuwave this week and it turned out great!

Pros of NuWave Oven:

  • Cooks food faster and uses much less energy than a conventional oven.
  • Won’t heat up the kitchen during hot Summer months.
  • The texture of the food turns out yummy!
  • Can be used as an extra oven at Thanksgiving and gatherings.
  • Easy to use with no preheating time.
  • The dome lifts off easily to pause and check on your food during cooking.
  • Easy to clean. The rack and bottom pan come out easily to be washed.

Cons of Nuwave:

  • Although it’s lightweight, it is slightly bulky to store – so you really must have space for it.
  • The cooking space is smaller than the oven.

My mom is actually the person who got me hooked on the Nuwave. She owns two and has used it to cook in the RV! Her favorite part is that it’s able to cook meat quickly from frozen. You can put in some frozen chicken and veggies, and have a healthy roasted dinner in under 20 minutes!

    Is the clean up easy?

    • Rose

Yes The lid comes off by twisting it off then the rest washes easily

I have one for over 2 years and love it. I also use it to make cakes. During the Holidays its nice to have it handy for a big family like mine. I also got The turkey fryer which is also great.

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Great- thanks for the feedback!

I’ve been cooking with a nuwave for 7 years now. Pre and post kids. Was awesome then and a lifesaver now when cooking something healthy can be done in little time, which is all the time. The only CON is the plastic dome will crack over time. Especially if you use it daily! I’ve gone through 7! Making its lifespan for me, one year. BUT I bought mine at Kohls (as with nearly all my big ticket purchases) And they have replaced every single one, they really do know how to keep a customer.

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

That’s good to know! Thanks for sharing 😀

You mean Kohls replaces just the cover, or the entire oven, when your lid cracks?

I see this on TV, but wasn’t sure if it was using a type of radiation to cook the food that wasn’t safe? (Like how some people don’t like microwaves because of the “radiation”?) Or is this just circulating air, or what? Seems like it’s small, too, like I can’t put my 9×13 pan of lasagna in there…

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

I think it fits an 8×8 pan and you can buy an extender rack to make another layer for additional space.

    • Garfield

No radiation there, just circulating air. Actually the popular air fryers are made after this oven.

Mike me just made it through the warranty period when the dome cracked. Searched and found out a common issue. Company wasn’t helpful. Expensive for just a year of use.

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Oh darn – thanks for feedback

I bought this over the fryer and it has been great. I suggest to wait for their 30/40% offers to save even more.

My observation is that is dries the food out so there are certain things I will not cook in there. I tried (because I thought it would be easier) to cook potstickers. It’s not the same as when you prepare them the traditional way. Same goes for the meat – it dries out if you want to cook it all the way through. Don’t get me wrong – it’s all good. I just wanted to share my observations with those that are on the fence. I love it but there is slight learning curve.

      Interesting – thanks!

My daughter cooked a Thanksgiving turkey in hers and it was the BEST turkey our family has ever eaten, bar none. This oven is awesome!

      • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

How wonderful – thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the post, I just picked up one in great condition at the thrift store for $12 works perfectly….. I wasn’t sure about buying it, now super excited I did!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      What a steal!

I have a different brand (glass bowl allows for higher heat) that I have used every single day for 5 years or so. I use my regular stove about once a month. These things are great as they are fast, save energy and don’t heat up the kitchen.

Don’t have one of these but had to say I love my Breville convection toaster oven. I use that for about 90% of my oven cooking. My regular oven takes so long to preheat and this guy heats up so quick and can hold a 13 x 9 and big pizzas. It might help hold you if you want to wait on buying a new oven. Ive had mine for years pre and post kids and havent had any problems. Sorry about your oven problem!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Thanks Trace – just waiting on a part to fix the gas starter. Thanks for the recommendation on the toaster oven!

I have even used my big electric roaster pan that you use for turkeys and other large stuff and just set my pan down inside of it like my casserole in a oven safe casserole dish and it cooks great and does not heat up my whole kitchen in the hot southern summers. Hope this helps someone else to know this.

  13. Sharon

Love my nuwave oven. It cooks food wonderfully. Plus the food is a hotter temperature without being overcooked.

  14. Sarah Snell

Totally agreed with Sharon. I loved this oven

  15. Venessa

I like that you actually discussed pros and cons of this products. If i purchase oven then this Nuwave is definitely will be on my list.
