Note from Collin:

Do you have a product you love? We definitely have many favorite products here on the Hip2Save Team, and thought it would be FUN to share some of them with you! I personally love product recommendations and I’ve also had a few requests from readers, so I have asked each member of the team to think of products they love (cosmetics, kitchen gadgets etc.) and to write up a post that will be shared here every Tuesday. Mary, my sidekick, is sharing one of her favorites…

Hi all! It’s Mary here, one of Collin’s sidekicks!

Do you enjoy eating home-made mashed potatoes or yummy desserts (like these delicious Slow Cooker Ranch Mashed Potatoes or this amazing 3-ingredient Apple Dump Cake) from time to time? I sure do, but I also dread peeling those slippery potatoes & apples and get frustrated when they fall in the trash can while I’m trying to peel them! 😉 If you can relate, you may also love this cool gadget!

A few months ago, I purchased this Farberware Classic Apple Peeler from Kohl’s.com after needing to spend some Kohl’s Cash before it expired. To be honest, I was a little hesitant about purchasing this brand as there were no reviews on Amazon, but I paid just over $3 for it after my Kohl’s Cash and a coupon code so I figured there wasn’t a whole lot to lose if it ended up not meeting my expectations.

AND, I have to say that this fun and easy-to-use gadget works SO well! Not only does it easily peel, core and slice apples, potatoes and pears, but it also quickly turns apples into spiral rings that my family loves to eat (and maybe play a little ring toss with too, but they do eventually end up in their mouths 😉 )! Even better, my kiddos also love eating the long strings of nutritious apple peels… WIN, WIN!

Did I mention that this peeler has a manufacturer’s lifetime limited warranty too? Plus, it cleans up easily with warm water and soap or you can just wipe it off using a clean cloth. Easy peasy!

If you’re looking to add this fun gadget to your kitchen, you can snag this same Farberware Classic Apple Peeler from Kohl’s.com (go here to check out Kohl’s promo codes to sweeten the deal further!) or you can purchase a similar Kitchen Basics Heavy Duty Apple Peeler, Slicer & Corer from Amazon.

Note from Mary: This is just an honest post that was not sponsored by the manufacturer. I just really like using this product & wanted to share it with you. Enjoy!

Can you clarify sponsored vs affiliate links? It said it’s not a sponsored post, but these are affiliate links, correct? I’m ok with that, but I feel the note at the bottom is misleading if you’re recommending this product and earning money when people purchase through these links. Please stay transparent and trustworthy, H2S! 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry for the confusion. I updated the wording to clarify “This is just an honest post that was not sponsored by the manufacturer”. I hope that makes sense. We just want to make sure all of you know that these product reviews aren’t being posted because the manufacturer is paying us a fee. Does that make sense?

      • Chrissy

Yes, and thank you so much for taking the time to clarify.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          You’re very welcome Chrissy!

  8. Christie

    • Mary (Stellar Sidekick)

Thanks Christie! You are too sweet!

How is it to clean? Is it easy to take apart? Can the parts go in the dishwasher?

    • Mary (Stellar Sidekick)

I think it’s easy to clean – just wipe it off with a wet sponge or rinse with soap and water! I haven’t ever tried taking it apart to clean it but it hasn’t really needed it!? If needed, you can lubricate the parts on occasion with a little vegetable oil from time to time to keep them moving easily.

Oh – I have one of those. I might’ve stolen it from my father-in-law I liked it so much. 🤔Makes my life so easy and it’s great for braces You know, Collin!

    • Mary (Stellar Sidekick)

      😀

    • Lo

Hahahaha. Glad I’m not the only one who jacks stuff from their father in law.

I have an apple peeler/slicer similar to this but much older. My experience has been that it is difficult to use if the apples are large or not perfectly round. I figured I would love it for making applesauce but find I rarely use it because it is such a pain! Are the newer ones designed better? I think the problem with mine is that the little razor part gets turned cockeyed and then just digs into the apple. I would love to try one again after seeing all these positive posts but am a little hesitant! My other question is does the suction cup hold well?

    • Mary (Stellar Sidekick)

      Hi Ashley!
Hmmm, I have not had any issues with the razor part digging in to the apples? Also the suction works fine for me but I have to make sure that it is on a clean flat surface.

Not sure about other brands, but I did like that Farberware offers a limited lifetime warranty (mentioned on Kohl’s site too), so you could always contact them if you’re having issues using it. Hope that helps!

      • Ashley

Thanks for your response! I may have to give a new one a try! I love kitchen gadgets!

    • Lo

I’ve had the same problem. You can adjust the depth of the razor by using the screw that is on the razor. Some apples I do lose a lot of apple and some are perfect.
