I have another comparable set from Amazon, not magformers, that were substantially cheaper, with a lot more pieces. . And you definitely need more pieces to build with. I think magformers are probably on the more expensive side just because of the name.
The perfect toy to clean up! They stick together so no hunting around for little pieces like with LEGOs! It’s a nice quiet toy for an older child to play with when the baby is being fed or rocked.

I just received the 40 piece kit (with carrying case) for 16.99 today from Amazon (posted on H2S last week). It was only 2 types of pieces (square and triangle) but it really compliments my son’s Magformers construction kit. This kit seems just like his real Magformers, same size, but different colors (not sure if they are a weaker magnet as stated by some comments, but so far I haven’t noticed any differences). Thank you H2S! I scored both sets after your postings and at such a great price too!! I highly recommend the 40 piece kit, if the deal is still active!!
