Growing up in Europe with front load washers during the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s (my mom still has one as that is all they have over there) I had enough of them. I will never own one. I think they are a pain to use. Just my opinion though.
I hate our front loader. We changed the rubber gasket once, keep it open to dry, run vinegar cycles, wipe down and it still gets mildew in FL alas ours wasn’t on the recall list or part of the settlement…how do I start one cuz I think all these machines are garbage
I luckliy have a top loader model. It holds more loads than my old standard washer, and cleans more efficiently. I always hated that cone in the center for aggitation, but that is gone in this model too! Mine fits large king size comforters without going to a laundry mat. I enjoy the cycles ours offers, and even a sanitize option if you care to use. I do not have to leave lid open to air out, so no issues with mold. However, with all new technology and computerized options there is a price to pay. If the computer board goes out on one these, you either pay a very high price to fix or are out of luck and need to purchase a new one. This has not personally happened to us, at least yet! The new technology does not last as long as the old standard ones. My baby boomer mom had my grandmother’s old washer for years before it finally went. Then you just couldn’t find the parts any longer to fix it. I love new technology, but this just aren’t met to last forever, lol!
