We were given information at school today that Food Lion is offering 5% off total purchase for faculty and staff with school ID on Tuesday, May 2.
Chick-Fil-A in the Houston area has free meals for teachers May 2nd. When you show teacher I.D.
Our local Alamo drafthouse is offering free movies for teachers from today through the 2nd or 3rd with picture ID.
Any teachers have any gift ideas they’ve been given from students that you loved? Other than gift cards, I hate choosing an amount lol TIA
I was given a mug with my initial on it (handmade using sharpies and a letter stencil) that I keep on my desk to store small items. Also, I received a package of my favorite pens from a student which was greatly appreciated. I have also been given bags of candy in the past which I can then share with the entire class (as I don’t need it all for myself). It really is the thought or gesture, not the amount spent or the gift itself. Even though a $5 gift card doesn’t sound like much, it is a nice and unexpected treat. Several students at my school write thank you notes which I think is the sweetest gift possible. Have your kids share a specific memory from class to make it personal. It is nice to have an entire week to recognize teachers, but it isn’t about the gifts!
And really, the best gift ever from a student is saying thank you with a hug!
Couldn’t be more true! I teach preK and a hug or an “I love you, Teacher” makes my day! I did see where another teacher had a parent call or email the teacher and say coffee is on me today and they asked what she liked. I thought that gesture was thoughtful!
I teach high school…my favorites are always handwritten notes from students. And chocolate. Always chocolate.

I teach preK and a hug or an “I love you, Teacher” just makes my day! I also know of another teacher who had a parent call/email her and the parent said coffee was on them and wanted to know what she would like. I thought that idea was a thoughtful gesture.
I’m a hs. teacher and honestly the notes and cards are the best. $5 to DD and Starbucks are great too. Although I have received some inappropriate gifts as well.
