It’s June but some stores already have Christmas items available! 😱🎄

My sidekick went to check out some deals at Hobby Lobby yesterday and actually spotted aisles of Christmas items! Yes, Christmas items in June including ornaments, bows, garland and more!

Is it too early for this? Are you ready to start Christmas shopping in June?

I don’t like mixing my seasons. Christmas prep should begin the day after thanksgiving lol. It’s even too early for Christmas in July!

I doubt Baby Jebus would approve of this.

And they pride themselves (hobby lobby) of being Christian, with christian music in the store! No likey!

    • Amy

The children always seem to show up in the comment section of these posts… πŸ™„

  4. J

Yes!!! Our was putting it out 2 weeks ago!! What the heck, it’s half a year away!!!

  5. Julie

I know crafters who, during the summer, make Christmas crafts for the fall craft shows and they like that Hobby Lobby has stuff out for them to use. I used to think it was crazy too but I have a little more understanding now.

  6. Taryn

Haha as soon as I saw the title of this post I thought, “Oh, Hobby Lobby is at it again!” πŸ˜‚

I work at Walmart and have never understood why we start starting up for Christmas in July. They kind of skim over the holidays in between. Its sad really. I always ask what happened to Thanksgiving because at my store the holiday tends to get two tiny aisles. Im all for present shopping throughout the year but not wrapping and what not thus early

    • ash

Thanksgiving hits the grocery side more so that is where that holiday is. Pallets of green beans, potatos, sweet potatoes, turkeys and French fried onions.

  8. Lesomom

I love it! I love Christmas all yearπŸŽ„β€οΈ

    • Schuwoman

      Me too! πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

    • Lynn

I agree ladies! I shop for Christmas gifts all year! Last year I was done and gifts wrapped by early November with all the deals and reward points I had earned!

    • anna

agree, but it does give me a little bit of anxiety.

    • Julie K.

Normally my husband and I take our vacation over Christmas, and we are gone for the after Christmas sales. So it is nice for us to be able to go to the ones during Christmas in July for decorations, wrapping paper, etc.

  9. Nik

Well… I just bought 3 sets of those Journey Girl doll and plan on putting them away for Christmas…. hahaha

  10. Cassie

It’s definitely aimed at the crafters who travel to festivals and such to sell their crafts, which really makes sense. If they kept it out all year I’m sure they’d sell it all! I for one love to wander down the aisles no matter what time of year it is. And I’m not a crafter. I just love pretty wrapping paper!

    • Suzanne H

So I’m not the only weirdo that loves pretty paper, boxes, bows, etc.!?!? πŸ™‚

Ugh! Was in a Hobby Lobby in Atlanta last week and saw this. Makes me sad. I normally don’t patronize them but was closest place to kill some time with my daughter to take her mind off a medical appointment we were early for. Now I REALLY don’t want to shop there.

  12. Jennifer

It’s too early for me BUT the earlier I get started the more time I have to enjoy the season with my family once the holidays are here. πŸŽ„β˜ƒοΈβ›„οΈ

Is it too early to shop for Christmas gifts? No. A very intelligent person shops year round. Is it too early for Christmas decor? I believe so esp consideration there is a large push away from retail these days.

  14. Michelle

It is too early BUT i need some some silver garland to keep the birds from pooping on my patio benches and cushions. We had one strand but need another one. So I’ll be at hobby lobby tomorrow.

    • MrsFelix1004

Great idea! My chickens have just started walking around on our porch and it is frustrating to chase after them. We have a lot of free range chickens so it is a game for them I think.

  15. Susan

I always figured craft stores such as Hobby lobby, Michael’s etc put out holiday stuff waaayyyy early so the crafters can get a jump start on their holiday themed handmade items. That way they are ready with handmade items for the handmade craft shows that start popping up in Oct!
    Just a thought…

  16. Jamie w

I to agree it’s early however, I see it from a crafting side as well as Christmas in July parties it’s nice. I also shop year round

  17. jennifer

The only store this is ok at is a craft store. Anywhere else, absolutely not!

  18. april

They could keep it up all year for all I care. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I’ve never understood why people get worked up about such little things.

    • Michelle

I agree! I don’t have the energy to manufacture outrage over early signs of Christmas!

      • Laura

Michelle lol! I agree. The wind blowing in the wrong direction seems to annoy some people. Must be nice to have all that extra time on their hands to constantly complain!

    • Suzanne H

      Yes, Ladies, yes!!!

  19. Karen

Eh. I bought a Christmas tree couple weeks ago. Set it up just to make sure I liked it. LOL. I love decorating for Christmas!

    • Amy

The big question is, do you still have the tree set up? πŸ˜€

      • Amber

        Was thinking the same…!?

  20. Nina

I agree with Jennifer, it’s a craft store, so it’s acceptable.. other retail stores, definitely no.

  21. MD

I work for a popular retail website and today our hallways were filled with children in Christmas pjs for our catalog photo shoot. Made me smile.

  22. Aunt Shaka

Could it be for Christmas in July πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

  23. Angie

It just got warm in New England! I understand from the crafting side…but really?! Hate pushing time forward constantly. It is a little depressing from that angle. It is okay to collect presents. But, having , ornaments and Christmas trees out is too much. πŸ™‚

I went to Hobby Lobby today in search of a small summer coloring craft for my kiddos. It’s like summer never happened. Even the amount of stuff they had available for the 4th of July was pitiful. But they had plenty of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas kids crafts available. So disappointing…

  25. Lisa

We love our Hobby Lobby and absolutely love Christmas. We had everything bought and wrapped by Black Friday last year. It was nice to get it done and out of the way so we could enjoy time with our loved ones.

  26. jan

They put their fall decor out after Easter! I love Hobby Lobby. Browsing through HL with the beautiful music is one of the things I do when I get away for a couple hours without kids. I’ll skip the fall and Christmas section though until at least September.

  27. Casey Meyers

Never to early if you find a really good deal.

  28. Sarah

I Christmas present shop year round just to make the best use of my budget. Also as a teacher I like to do big projects in the summer since I won’t have time near the holidays (usually tests and chaos at school).

  29. Amy

2 major reasons why this happens.
    1. Lawsuits. Stores display seasonal items early to “sell” at full (inflated) pricing and later stack “huge” discounts on items. Some companies have gotten sued in the past for advertising sales on items that were never sold at full price (Justice for example).
    2. Crafters. As a crafter, there are certain items that take a looonnggg time to make. Some crafters like to give these items as diy gifts. Quilts for example take months to make so this is when stores roll out their holiday diy sections. Not sure why Hobby Lobby is displaying decorations now though.

Decorations? YES. Gifts? NEVER too early
