Note from Collin:

Do you have a product you love? We definitely have many favorite products here on the Hip2Save Team, and thought it would be FUN to share some of them with you! I personally love product recommendations and I’ve also had a few requests from readers, so I have asked each member of the team to think of products they love (cosmetics, kitchen gadgets etc.) and to write up a post that will be shared here every Tuesday. Kimberly, my sidekick, is sharing one of her favorites today…

Hey all! It’s Kimberly, one of Collin’s sidekicks!

If you read my last post, you know I’m a bit of a makeup addict. I’m an artist with little time to paint these days, so I have fun ‘painting’ my face. I’m over 40 now and heaven knows, I need all of the help I can get! 😉

Over the years I’ve tried all sorts of mascaras, including high-end and inexpensive drug store brands. Here are just a few of the mascaras I’ve personally used in the past that have had clumping issues for me (some more than others):

For the longest time I truly thought that all mascara just ‘clump’ and in order to ‘de-clump’ them you have to use an eyelash comb/eyebrow brush like the ones seen here after you apply your mascara. That is exactly what I did for years! 🙄

Back in December of 2016 we posted a super hot deal on Revlon Mascara, so I figured I’d give it a try. At the time I stocked up on these Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascaras. I only tried this specific one with the blue cap, as it’s all that was in stock at the time. Little did I know, when I placed my order, how much it would forever change my ‘mascara world’!

You guys, this mascara is seriously THE BEST non-clumping mascara ever! I’ve used both the waterproof and regular varieties of this and neither of them ‘clump’ up! I no longer have to use an eyelash comb/eyebrow brush afterward to ‘de-clump’ my lashes! WOOOHOOOO! 💃🏼

The most I’ve had to do since switching to this mascara is occasionally one or two lashes are a little thicker so I just brush over my lashes once more with the same loaded Revlon mascara wand and I’m done. You can see in the picture above I need to go over the inside lower lashes once more, but this is with just one swipe along my lashes – pretty good!

I’ll admit I don’t have the thickest eyelashes in the world, but my oldest daughter has super thick eyelashes, and she also now only uses the same Revlon Volume + Length Magnified mascara!

Needless to say, I’m HOOKED! After years of trying so many different mascaras, I’m so happy I finally found one that doesn’t clump! I’ll be sticking with this one for as long as they make it! 😊

What is your favorite mascara?

I bought several with that same deal and so agree! I love the pink cap one too. 😊

Awesome! I’ll have to give that one a try Amy! 😀

      I second that 🙋🏻

  3. Emily

I bought some pink caps and blue caps with that deal. Have only used the pink but can’t wait to use blue now!

  4. Kristin M.

I’m in love with the L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara! I have very thin lashes and it gives me length and volume with just one coat.

  5. Jaime

I just wanted to say that both you and your daughter are beautiful ❤️

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

      Thank you Jaime! <3

  6. Babymair

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

You’re welcome Babymair, and thank you! 😀

  7. 50ShadesofLipstick

I am obsessed w/ Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. I have very long lashes but it adds a ton of volume without adding any clumps. It’s also super dark black. But it’s still not better than sex though 😉

    • Shelly

haha… the mascara is only okay too flaky at times but best when first open.. but i do love the Loreal Telescopic mascara but I’m wanting to try the Lash Paradise mascara next.

  8. Lolita

For years I have been looking for a Mascara that is not clumpy. I have the purple cap one and it was just too clumpy. I will have to try this one!

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

I hope it works for you Lolita! 🙂

  9. Rebecca

I haven’t tried this but am currently using the Loreal Double Extend & honestly, my lashes have never looked better. Game changer for me. I have tried Benefit They’re Real in the past & liked that one as well.

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

So glad to hear you found a mascara that you like Rebecca!

  10. Gail

I love the red cap … stocked up a few months ago on the same deal!

  11. Lovin Him

I LOVE Maybelline Full and Soft – NO clumps! 🙂 I have used it for a couple of years and try to keep stocked up in case they discontinue it like happens to so many of my favorite products 🙁

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

Cool! Thanks for sharing! I agree, it’s such a bummer when one of your favorite products gets discontinued.

  12. Karri

Does anyone know of a mascara that won’t make your eyes itch. Ever since I have lasik eye surgery mascara drives my eyes crazy.

    • Carol

After my lasik I started using Almay mascara. It’s hypoallergenic and has never bothered my eyes.

    • Lel

      Have you tried almay mascaras?

    • tanyam

I had Lasik, too, and agree: Almay is great. Clinique, Revlon (all kinds) irritate my eyes like crazy.

    • Karri

Thanks Carol, Lel and Tanyam I will try Almay

  13. Claudia

Does anyone knows a trick to keep your top lashes separate from your bottom? Mine always gets stuck specially near the putter area. Thanks in advance!

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

My daughter has the same issue and she uses an eyelash curler before applying her mascara. But her lashes still stick together sometimes.

    • jlgclassof2000

Have you tried the tweezerman lash combs with metal teeth? They’re very sharp & require careful use but once you get the hang of it, they’re awesome! Ulta always has them & u might find them at walgreens.

  14. Ash

now I want to know what foundation you both use

  15. snokoc

and your daughter could show us how to do eyebrows! 😀

  16. Kristen E.

I need help with finding a new eye liner. PLEASE what works ?

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

Hi Kristen. I use the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (BUT I have old wrinkly eyelids now 😂 , so it does sometimes travel up the fine lines when I first apply it. When that happens I just dab it off and fan my eyelid so it dries quickly. Once it dries it STAYS!) I’ve tried gel liners, but they end up running big time on me later. I hope this helps!

      • Kristen E.

That’s the exact problem I have … Thank you !!!

  17. Lel

At first I hated the Urban Decay Perversion, but I went to it weeks later and I liked it. You need to let it dry out some I guess. I also like Tarte Gifted and L’oreal Telescopic. Was not impressed with Benefit They’re Real. I tried the Revlon red cap one and hated it. I will have to try the blue now. Also on my list to try based on good reviews: L’oreal Lash Paradise, Covergirl Supersizer, Tarte Lights Camera Lashes.

  18. Sarah

Love e.l.f. mineral infused mascara! Cruelty-free, inexpensive and lengthens like crazy without clumping. It’s a dry kind of mascara. If you like a really liquid-y one, e.l.f.’s Beautifully Bare in Noir is pretty awesome as well.

  19. Pixie Gray

I am also one who had given up on finding a clumpless mascara. I am so excited to rush out (and find a good deal of course) and get this one, anxious to try it. Thanks so much for posting about a very common problem! Also agree you and your daughter are sharing a great gene pool!!

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

I hope you like it as much as I do Pixie Gray! And thank you for the kind comment! 😀

  20. Kim

I love the black liquid liner that Physicians formula makes in the grey tube with black cap. Store it cap down (like in a cup) and it goes on great, lasts all day, and washes off easy in the shower. And it is always almost free with the good deals at CVS. Usually priced around 8$ pre deal

  21. Denise

L’Oréal butterfly mascara is a winner for me! It makes my lashes full and winged out on the sides with no clumps. The wand really separates and wings out your lashes. Coat them from root to tip to make them full and long. It’s my favorite so far! I’ve tried others but I keep going back to it.

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Thanks for sharing Denise!

  22. Diana

I like the butterfly mascara too!
Maybelline’s falsies-angel push up (purple) works really well! Considering the brush is weird- it works awesome!

  23. ne

I don’t know if this is true or not, but I remember reading a tip somewhere from a makeup artist who said that the main difference between expensive and cheap mascara is the wand. She recommended cleaning or sanitizing your favorite wand from the expensive brand and then reusing it in the cheaper mascara. If that’s true, it would be great for when you find a product that gets discontinued because you could just reuse your original wand and maybe get the same or similar results!

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

Great idea Ne! I’ll have to try that!

  24. Kelly

Thanks Kimberly! I look forward to trying it!

    • Kimberly (Stylish Sidekick)

      You’re welcome Kelly!

  25. CM

    Hi Kristen,
I am an eye makeup junkie and by far Physician formula is excellent liner. It stays all day, doesn’t bother my sensitive eyes & easy to remove at night. It’s the best!!

    • Kristen E.

Thank you I will definitely try that !

  26. jlgclassof2000

Yall are 2 gorgeous ladies! My favorite is the smashbox white primer mascara and the smashbox full exposure mascara. I highly recommend them! Before I was using the loreal silver tube with primer on 1 end and the mascara on the other, & while that 1 is great for the price, I definitely prefer the smashbox if I can snag a good deal on it. The primer makes a huge difference for me!

  27. Summer

I third the physicians formula liquid eyeliner. Also my favorite ever mascara that I always go back to no matter what I try is Maybelline volum express the turbo waterproof. I’ve never heard anyone else talk about it ever but it’s seriously my holy grail. My lashes are straight so I need the waterproof to hold my curl. It doesn’t clump, builds well, holds curl, and doesn’t take an act of God to remove, even though it’s waterproof. It’s the black tube with the red writing.

  28. Allison

I use this formulation and the lengthening one and love them both. One of the best parts is it comes off very easily.

  29. Christi

I know this post was a long time ago, but was buying make-up today and remembered to look up this post. All I have to say is thank you so much! I have been recently using Benefit They’re real because it doesn’t clump/ makes lashes longer and this stuff does the same thing for way cheaper!

  30. Cindy

I just bought the red capped one & have seen more clumps than wver before! DONT recommend it at all.

  31. Pattie

Hi, I have really thick eyelashes, they are so straight and facing down. I have tried so many mascara that say they curl but they don’t. Also I don’t need volume so most mascaras just make my lashes clump together. I do use an eyelash curler but the mascaras are so heavy, they weigh my lashes down. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  32. Meliza

Covergirl Clump crusher!! Hands down best clump free mascara. Layer it on all you want it will not clump.

  33. Lisa

Does anyone know what lipstick the girl in the bottom photo on the left is wearing? Such a lovely natural shade!
