Amazon Trade-In Program: Earn Amazon Gift Cards for Video Games, Consoles, Books & More
Do you have old books, Kindles, video games, consoles or other items collecting dust on your shelves or taking up space in your closet? If so, you may want to take note of Amazon.com’s Trade-In Program where you can trade in eligible phones, books, DVD’s, cameras and much more AND Amazon will give you a gift card in return!
Here’s how it works…
- Head over here and find out if your item(s) is eligible for trade-in and how much it is worth (you can search by title or keyword)
- Add the trade-in item to your trade-in cart by clicking on the Trade-In Here button
- You’ll then be prompted to select the condition of the item (choose from Like New, Good and Acceptable)
- If you find the trade-in value to be acceptable, you’ll then be prompted to choose the shipping method and return address. Just print the shipping label, affix it to your box and then bring the box to your local UPS store or USPS drop off location (and Amazon.com will pay for all the costs!).
- Be sure to ship your items within 7 calendar days of submitting the trade-in.
- If your submission is accepted, an Amazon.com Gift Card for the value of your trade-in will appear in your Amazon account, generally within 2 business days. Your gift card payment is automatically added to the available balance on your account so you don’t need to redeem any claim codes or wait for gift cards in the mail. It’s that easy!
I have used this for about a year and have made back ALOT on used college textbooks! I own an antique company so im always at thrift stores..estate sales and other. I keep a look out for newer textbooks and use an app called “bookscouter” where you can scan the barcode and it will pop up if its worth anything. Make sure the books in good condition …i buy them for about $.25 to $4.00 (depending) and trade them to amazon from $12 to $100!!This definately helps at christmas and through out the year! So easy to use! Just wanted to share!
Wow! Great idea. Thanks for sharing π Is the bookscouter app associated with Amazon? Or are you just using it as a rough idea to check out what Amazon’s value might be?
Its not related to amazon…i have an android and search “bookscouter” it actually gives about 5-15 different companies and what they offer..sometimes a book is worth more to other textbook companies and they pay via check or paypal π glad i could help!:)
Thanks for the tip!
Absolutely! Glad i could help! π
Can you package multiple books together or do you have to ship them all separately? TIA!
-Jessica
Im actually not sure on that one..i have only shipped one by one before..worth looking into though π
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks for this post. I had no idea this existed!
You’re welcome!
So I have college textbooks and DVDs how much would I be getting is it worth it ? Will I be getting the same value as what they are selling it for online ?
They do not take everything…the newer the better..you can look it up through the website and go through some questions…than they will give you an estimate..they pay for shipping as well. I have a “dirty dancing” dvd still in shrink wrap..went on and they would give me a whopping $.12 for it LOL ..my packing envelope cost more..i kept it…lol
This is a great program: often you could get more selling it yourself via Amazon or ebay, but this is easier … and occasionally, Amazon offers a substantially inflated value.
