I was just looking for backpacks for my twins! Which one would be good for 1st graders?

    • Linda

My twins kindergarten and 1st grade teachers asked parents to buy them med/large backpack because they need to bring snowpants in winter, bring art work home, etc.
Maybe check with school list before buying them backpacks.

  2. Amy

The small is a good size for first grade.

    • janet

      Thank you!!

Anyone know when the sale with free monogram will happen? And if it is a better deal then this sale? I would like to get my daughter a bigger bookbag with her name. I know someone will say don’t put your kids name on it because of strangers. My daughter does not walk. And is dropped of at school in the morning and rides the bus home. I wait for her and her siblings at the end of our driveway. So no strangers are near her. She looses everything, so her name out in the open helps her. Thanks for any info.

    • Amie

Amy I love this comment! I am in the same situation. I got my daughter’s name on a backpack from Lands end last year and it worked out great! I did get the free Monogram deal. I can’t remember but I feel like it was really late in the season last year. We start in September and I was afraid she wouldn’t have it for the first day but we got it in time. So I guess be patient and wait. Lol good luck! I hope you get the deal.

    • Carrie

It was in August for the past two years, late August. I need a Medium one now too, the Small I bought last year ended up being too small 🙁
I am hoping they do the same promo this year! Because it was 50% off with the monogramming shipped, which is a great deal!

    • n1njamom

I put my kids’ names on all kinds of things. I also talked with them from the time they were very little, that just because someone knows your name, it doesn’t mean they know YOU. My kids are car riders, we have never even done the bus because all ages ride together, (as in, Kindergartners and Seniors on the same bus!) But they LOVE having their names on stuff, and I used it as a reason to have that talk early and often.

    • Becky

Last year they had that sale around August 11.

I want to know if this is the deal everyone’s been talking about, getting the backpacks. I have reading the reviews on the bookbags and they seem very compatible. Please let me know if this is a good deal to jump on or not. Thank you!

  5. Jessica

Isn’t there a deal in August where it’s free shipping, in addition to the 50% off?

    • Amie

I’m pretty sure I got that deal last year in Aug. with the free monogram, 1/2 off and free shipping

Just chiming in to say that I bought LE backpacks for my 2 boys – they were going into kindergarten and preschool at that time. I don’t recall how much I paid for each, but I got them personalized & monogrammed with one of the promotions. They used them every school day (and even for trips, etc.) for the past 2 years and they still look great! I washed them and line dried them before school last year and they looked brand new!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome to hear how well they hold up! Thanks for the great feedback!

Are these better than the LL bean backpacks? I placed an order last night with their 20% off.

    • amanda

They’re very comparable. We started off with LL Bean backpacks in Kindergarten and the zippers kept breaking, so we started getting Lands End backpacks and their lunch bags as well. My 10 year old has had the same LE backpack and lunch sack for 3 years and they still look like new!

      • 🌻biscotti 🍀

        Thank you!

      • Jessica

Did you get a medium or large for your 10 yr old?

    • Scnewport

Our LLBean backpacks have outlasted the Lands End. I think I like Lands End girls selection better for choices. My son is in 4th grade and his orange camo is still cool and looks brand new (5yrs strong).

  8. Kate

This is what I’ve been waiting for!! Pottery Barn ones were junk with a 90 day guarantee 👎👎

  9. Jennifer Callahan

Waiting until August for the free shipping, free monogramming, and half-off deal!

I love this company! I bought a wheeled backpack from them last year and the handle stopped working after a year so they are replacing it for me. I bought a wheeled backpack yesterday and they will refunded me what i payed once they get the old one. If that wasn’t awesome enough, I noticed that the backpacks went on sale today so they refunded me the difference. I will always stay with this company.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! Great to hear how helpful their customer service has been for you! Thanks for sharing your experience!

    • Colleen

I unfortunately had the opposite experience. I bought a monogrammed backpack on sale last year, with a matching lunchbox. The zipper tore right out of the backpack around January. Knowing they had a lifetime guarantee, I tried to replace it. It doesn’t work like that. Basically you can return anything, at anytime, but they only refund what you paid. Since I paid a lot less in August than the going price in January, getting the exact same product would have cost me almost double. I was not happy because it was definitely a manufacturer’s defect. My daughter went back to using her 5 year old LL Bean Backpack. If you are waiting for the August sale, just make sure you understand their return policy. I, unfortunately, did not.

  11. Amber

I concur – I bought 3 in August 2 years ago when free monogramming and free shipping! They were $17 total

    • Amber

*$17 for each backpack, not total

  12. n1njamom

I can’t believe they have NO messenger bags! Both my kids need them now, they’re at the grades that there’s no room for backpacks. LL Bean is requesting financial information to apply for a second mortgage for two of theirs, pretty much. Ugh! I LOVE Land’s End bags, they’re such good quality. We’re still using EVERY bag and lunch bag that we’ve ever gotten from them (when we travel.)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Thanks so much for the great review! Happy to hear how pleased you have been with the Lands End bags!

    • Scnewport

LL Bean has 20% off those now.

  13. Jessica

Has anyone seen how much shipping is for just the backpack?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It looks like shipping starts at $8. Hope this helps!

    • Kelly Levenson

They have free shipping promo deals all the time. Sign up for the emails. We use them for work ie monogrammed dress shirts, etc and they always have deals!

  14. Sherri

We monogram with our last name, my kids don’t answer to that anyway and easy to pass on to other family members.

  15. nicole

Thank you ordered one! My other daughters couldn’t find any they liked but found some on Children’s Place that they liked for $10 each! Does anyone have a $10 off 40 code? Lol

    • Kristin

      What’s your email?

  16. Kelly Levenson

I cannot say enough about how much we LOVE the Lands End backpacks and lunch boxes. We have used them for both kids, age 7 and 11 for years. I have even washed them in the washing machine and hug dry and they look brand new!!! They are awesome and well worth the $! I also have waited till school started and bought them for the next school year. You can great some great deals!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great to hear how well they wash up! Thanks so much for the great feedback!
