Tricia in my experience Costco tend to run a little higher than Sam’s Club on some items, most are pretty much about the same. They offer some different things, there is always someone there to assist you, their pizza is really good in comparison to Sam’s and I never question the quality of the items I’m getting Costco’s, the workers love their job and go above and beyond, unlike Sam’s. I will be getting this deal. I believe you can visit the store before you make a decision.

Prices are very similar to sams. I find there are more organic and low sugar options at Costco. If that’s not a concern, imo you might as well stick with sams.
She things at both are cheaper. I like Costco better imo but Sam’s is good.
Prices are very very comparable, many times less when you look at the product quantity per price.
Quality, better!
Sams is low-end (price over quality), Costco is high-end (quality over price) in terms of product offering. Sams seems like large-format version of WM. Costco is a different animal — they sell extremely high quality stuff in some categories. Their store-brand (Kirkland) is usually made by top-tier manufacturers and is often better than national brands. For example, their coffee beans are roasted by Starbucks. Their dog food is made by Diamond, and some of it is pretty close in formula to Diamond’s Taste of the Wild (with grain free options). Their store-brand canned dog food has tripe, a high-end ingredient typically found only in $3/can boutique food. Their Awapuhi shampoo for years was rumored to be made by Paul Mitchell (not confirmed though). They’re the largest retailer of organics in the country right now — HUGE organic product offering (and a big part of the reason Whole Foods is suffering financially). Even the clothes assortment routinely has designer labels. Their optical shop is rated as one of the best by Consumer Reports, and I can find designer frames (e.g., Armani) there for 1/4 what my eye doctor’s shop charges. Their wine buyers are famous for getting really good wine at low prices. Hopefully this illustrates how Costco caters to a different kind of value shopper.
Don’t forget about Costco pharmacy, they have significant purchasing power with manufacturers even on prescription medication. One of mine is half price at Costco for the same exact brand. I prefer Costco for all the various reasons, organics, food court, meat dept, etc etc. Ooh and adult beverages. Lol. I’m only 3 minutes from Costco, 5 minutes from BJ’s, 5 minutes from Sam’s, I go to Costco 90% of the time. They’re building a giant IKEA 30 seconds from my house, if it weren’t for the great food if be upset..lol
Costco has a way better meat department and selection of organic products. They also treat their employees way better. My brother worked at sams and when he got back from serving our country in Afghanistan they tried to demote him which is illegal. I refuse to shop at sams after that. If u treat a vet like that imagine how they treat normal employees.
I don’t know if you have kids but I’m in love with the Kirkland brand diaper I honestly believe they must be made by Huggies they’re awesome and fit around my little one perfectly

Amanda, if it makes you feel better, we got this deal and took it to Costco a few nights ago to redeem. She knew about the cash card that we’ll get in the mail in 4-6 weeks, but she didn’t know anything about the coupons and said they didn’t have anything to give us. We were in a hurry and I will definitely ask someone else the next time I go, but it seems like all Costcos might be different in what parts of this they will honor. I don’t think I would bother going through the process of canceling your membership unless you know for sure that your Costco will give you everything, and that they are coupons that are valuable to you.
Costco only takes visa…..guess I won’t be joining.

You can use Discover , MasterCard,or Visa credit card at Costco.com as well as any debit card. then you can purchase Costco cash card online and use in warehouse as your form of payment.
I tried to use my Target Mastercard (which works like a regular cc), and was told no. That Target cc does not work!
My Costco takes Mastercard. I’ve never had a Visa and been shopping at Costco for years. I would double check on that.
I was just at one in Utah and they do not take Mastercard there.
Mastercard debit transactions are fine, not credit though( at least in the U.S).

something similar is happening to me i bought it with PayPal it tells me congrats on your purchase then when i go to check my voucher it says is refunded.
I’m on a call with LivingSocial right now for this same reason. She said it’s because they detected two accounts with the same billing address. I guess my husbands. She said only one is allowed per household which stinks since we’re both linked with our Facebook accounts and neither of us wants to ask the other to log in every time we want to order. But anyway, she said we need to delete the billing info (address) on both accounts and then go place the order through one account. And we have to do that every time we want to order. Weird.

I really like the quality of glasses frames offered at Costco over some online brands (Zenni, Goggles). The frame material is stronger and holds adjustments better. Costco has some of the best prices for glasses over other brick-and-mortar stores.

I would think no. Not everything in store is on the website. I would pass if I were you.
I have 2 Costco’s within 5 miles on each side of town and although I love Costco, I can’t justify the membership cost. Same for Amazon Prime, and any other membership. You should find the answers on the website, but i’m with Laura…I’d pass if I were you. A good deal is only good if you can use it to the full potential.
Deals on their site include shipping and handling and are therefore typically more expensive and not as good of a deal in my opinion. I would pass if can only use online

There was a deal here last year and I tried to get my husband, who is secondary on my account, to sign up as primary on a new account and they wouldn’t let him. The system recognized him as a member so they wouldn’t allow him to get the gift card or freebies. He was so mad at me for putting him through that.

You can add your husband and just say that he will go in and have his photo taken for the card when he returns. Or you could probably keep the 2nd slot open and just add him later on.

No, they just raised them. Membership fees are a major component of Costco’s business model (and most of their profit, since they don’t make much of anything on goods, since the mark-up is so low).
