My kids also <3 the iPhone app. I deleted it a while back when I ran out of space on my phone; I think I'll go re-add it! I had forgotten how cute it is.

This was my favorite book as a child (I’m 43 now) and I still have the original book! I taught preschool for many years and used it in my classroom. Also read it to my daughter when she was little. Maybe it will survive until I have grand kids too:)

Such a great, hilarious book! Another interactive book we love is Don’t Push the Button. Both make my daughter laugh out loud!

What is this book about? Moral of the story?

    • Kristin

Grover finds out that there will be a monster at the end of the book. He tries everything in his power to try to stop you from turning the pages… nails it shut, pleads with you, etc…
when he gets to the end of the book, he figures out that he is the monster at the end of the book 😂🙂

    • PJ

      Potential morals:
Trust your parents. Grover is afraid, but the parent or teacher keeps turning pages because they know it’ll be ok.
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. The title doesn’t tell you everything.
Books can’t hurt you. Even if they’re scary
It’s ok to be scared. Sometimes even Grover is afraid,

      • Stefanie

Or possibly somwthing about waiting until you have all the information/don’t be scared until you know you have something to be scared of, since all he knows is there is a monster at the end, but doesn’t know anything more than that

    • Ihearthip

I think it’s just to be a funny surprise. Because of course you want to turn the page if you’re being told not to! It’s not serious at all. When being read aloud it allows for a lot of funny drama.

  15. Kristin

I love this book! My favorite as a child (now 34) I have the original and my kids crack up every time.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

  18. Ann

Cute book. I have the version that that has the dvd. If I don’t stop the DVDs player, my niece and nephews can sit there and watch it over and over again.

  19. Tara

  24. Tammy Houser

I had this book for my sons, now in their 40s, and have read it to all the grandchildren down to the ones who are now five. It’s getting a bit shop worn from the loving use.

  25. Kim

Best book ever!! Knew it word for word when I was younger and now my little one does too!

  26. Ihearthip

    I love that book!!

  27. Laura

Wow! I have a 30 year old copy on my bookshelf that I used when I taught and for my kids when they were little. No one else I know had ever heard of it. Glad to see one of my absolute favourites is loved by others.

My daughter LOVES the app. She sits there and giggles aloud at it. I remember loving the book as a kid too.
