Note these are the smaller version at only 7″ and also only 16gb of space. WE got the newer version of the 8″ with 32GB and where glad we did as my kids like to download a lot of apps. Have not needed to buy expansion cards yet.

I regret getting this for my 6year old (now 7) son for Christmas last year. We have been charged for subscriptions he has signed up for without permission, apps downloaded without asking, and he messes with our Amazon Echo through the app since it is all connected through my amazon account. I did try to make him a profile under my account for it, but then it affected the Fire tablet I gave my grandma, too. I’m sure there is a solution to this (other than taking this tablet away from my kid), but I haven’t found it.

You have to set the parental controls. I struggled with doing it, but once my 2 yo almost bought a computer I contacted customer service and they walked me through it. Every kid in our family has a kindle, and we don’t have an issue anymore. Sure, you have to type in a password to buy something, but not a big deal when you think of the havoc they can possibly create.

I got both of my kids Kindles for Christmas, and we loved them….BUT I can hardly get either one of them to charge anymore. Has anyone else had this issue? I believe that I purchased through QVC so not sure how to go about getting them fixed.
