I have this but I’m not sure what to use it for? Could someone please tell me what they cook in it?

    • Lulu

      Chili!

    • kim

Anything you place in the oven for a long period. I like doing pot roast, chili, and pork and sauerkraut.

    • Katie

Roast Chicken, chili, soup, braised meats

  2. Cheryl

I LOVE my dutch oven. I make the BEST bread in it!

I found these in 3 different stores on clearance for 50% off. May find a better deal there if you can check inventory before you go.

I found mine last year around this time. They were marked down below $20 so I bought myself one & bought 2 as wedding gifts bc these are SO nice!

We use ours for lots of dishes from on the stove gumbo to in the oven tamale pie to under a fire pit baking biscuits. This pot is really transitional. The only down side is the weight, with it being 6-quarts…that’s hefty when it’s empty but when full, a pair of strong arms along w/ silicone pot holders to grip heated pots is a huge plus! We love ours & cook w/ it a lot along w/ other cast iron cookware. A plus is that this doesn’t need to be kept seasoned except for the rim around

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear how many yummy items you can make with the cast iron dutch oven!! Thanks so much for your feedback!

  7. Karen

Thanks! Got both my daughters one for Christmas.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Such a great gift idea Karen! You’re very welcome!

Thank you SO much! I snagged one of the hot coffee ones for my little sister, as a Christmas gift! 🎁

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re most welcome! 🙂

I have a Le Cruset one, and I have been wanting another dutch oven but could not bring myself to pay the price. Thank you so much, picked up another for myself for xmas and one as a gift!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re welcome! Happy you could snag two of them!

Does anyone have a comparison between this and say the Martha Stewart? I have a Martha Stewart and although I love how moist the roasts come out, it sticks when browning, the inside is stained and you can’t fry in it which I understand could be done in a Le Crueset.

    • Emily

LeCrueset durch ovens are surprisingly lightweight compared to all the other cast iron dutch ovens. I have noticed they heat more evenly too. My parents have LeCrueset, and its a special treat to use them when I’m helping in their kitchen. 🙂 With that said, i have a food network dutch oven from kohls that gets the job done fairly well, but after 3 years of use there is some discoloration to the enamel. Not sure how Threshold compares, but at this price point it is totally worth trying.

Does anyone know if these are free of lead?

  12. Emma

They also have some in store on clearance for 24.98 too… Wonder if they will make it up to 70% off! I just bought a light pink one but I don’t think it is good idea because it will get burn eventually!
