Need a little extra money for the holidays?

If you’re a fan of Target and looking to make a little extra income this holiday season, this post is for you! Target just announced that they’re looking to hire 100,000 seasonal team members across 1,816 Target stores in the U.S. AND 4,500 team members for their distribution and fulfillment facilities.

As a benefit of working at Target, team members will receive two discounts: a 10% merchandise discount in-store and on Target.com plus an additional 20% wellness discount on fruits and veggies, Simply Balanced brand foods and C9 athletic gear. And, seasonal members get paid $10 per hour!

ALL Target stores will be holding in-store hiring events on October 13th-15th from 10AM-6PM where you can learn about available positions and meet team members. AND, there may be opportunities to interview on the spot so be sure to come prepared to introduce yourself!

I work for target they are a decent company. They start at $10/HR. You get 10 percent off as employee discount if you use cash or your red card. They are SUPER pushy about red Cards. But the shopping is fun hours are good

Good to know you have enjoyed it! Thanks for the helpful feedback!

How can they only pay $10/ hour if the state’s minimum wage is over that?

    • Ash

I kind of think where i’m at in PA it’s $7.25

I believe they would have to pay at least the states minimum wage. In WA it’s $11.00 per hour.

I would end up losing money if I worked at target. Way too much temptation!!

Experiences vary depending the store. My experience was not so great. I worked there for 2 years and started seasonal. The shopping was great though.

My son recently quit at Target after 3 years there. He started as a seasonal worker. His experience was not great. No room for growth, management was incompetent, wage only goes up pennies with your reviews, he had a hard time ever getting approval to take his earned vacation time, you must PUSH the RedCard. Black Friday means never being able to spend the holiday with family as Target opens at 6 pm (team members must be there earlier than that). If you enjoy working holidays, then Target is the place for you! Overall it was a disappointing experience for him, but he is now working in a management position for a national grocery chain.

Sorry to hear it was not a great experience for him Ginger! Thanks for sharing!

My son had a great experience as an employee. Lots of overtime if he wanted it and a good boss he worked overnight stocking so no customers.

    Does anyone who worked seasonally know if they have hours either late at night or super early? We have young kids so I would have to work warehouse type hours. :}

It depends on the store. Most have early AM shifts for stockers and some have overnight shifts for the same thing. These positions are for stocking the shelves, etc.

I started as a seasonal cashier in 2004, met my (now) husband a month later (he worked there too). I moved into an HR role and did that until 2011. My husband stayed with Target and worked at the district office (he moved up in the ranks) until 2015!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How awesome! Great to hear what success you and your husband had working for Target! 🙂

I worked at Target for 5 weeks and hated it. The HR gal put down I had open availability when I didn’t and they scheduled me hours I couldn’t work. When I complained to the office manager I was told I couldn’t change my availability for 3 months. Having to call customers “guests” was a joke also. I missed my daughter’s prom pictures because of them and after scheduling me to work Mother’s Day I said enough and quit. Btw I quit right then and there when I was called into office and written up for coming in late to a shift I told them ONCE again I couldn’t work. She said but you’re on the schedule 5 days a week for the next 2 weeks including working tomorrow and Sunday (Mother’s Day). I said when people quit they don’t come in and work.
