Have you heard the news? โœˆ๏ธ ๐Ÿ“ฑ

Starting October 1st, Delta Air Lines will be the first U.S. global carrier to offer FREE mobile messaging in-flight! This means that you’ll be able to stay connected with friends, family, colleagues, and clients on the ground and exchange real-time messages via iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

“Looks like my flight is arriving ahead of schedule. Should be ready for pickup 15 minutes early.”

Note that free messaging will be available on all Gogo-enabled Delta flights, including all aircraft with two or more cabins. Customers will be able to access free messaging through Delta’s Wi-Fi portal page, but messaging will be for text use only and will not support the transfer of photo or video files.

We primarily fly jet blue and with my iPhone feature “wifi calling” turned on I have even made calls well above the clouds in the past.

Oh awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience Amber!

I used this service on Alaska Airlines in August. It was really awesome to get to chat (or keep chatting)! Sure made time fly by! Hehehehe

      Lol! That’s awesome! ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is awesome. What’s wifi calling btw? 1st I’m hearing of this feature.

You can make and receive calls through wifi (which many planes offer) using an AT&T account. Not sure if other carriers offer it or not…..
      I have an iPhone 6 running IOS 10.3.3. It’s in :settings>phone>wifi calling:

I fly Delta all the time! They are the best!!!!

Glad to hear that Cheri! Thanks for your feedback!

I used to fly delta exclusively for years and I never once had a good experience with their on board internet. It was always a waste of money. So I have my doubts that this will even work very well. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone had to send the message 10 times before it even goes through.
