Diet Coke Puts Holes in Your Brain, It’s Not Really Something to Be Proud Of…

This is one of the not so nice comments left on this Facebook post. Seriously?!

Sorry, but I’m ditching “Happy Friday” today, and instead posting “Happy Paige”.

Paige ROCKS, and she’s also addicted to Diet Coke as mentioned in this Facebook post. But guess what? It’s her life to live, and if she wants to drink Diet Coke all day – SHE CAN. 👌

The post was about sharing our own guilty pleasures, and not about educating all of us on why we shouldn’t drink Diet Coke.

So CHEERS to Paige for putting herself out there, and looking oh so cute in her Diet Coke costume!

IT’S HAPPY PAIGE DAY! 💃

    Love it!!!

  2. Dlila

    Love the costume!

  3. Brittani

Love this! There will always be “Facebook doctors” and other people who have nothing better to do than criticize people they don’t know, but don’t let it get you down! Happy Paige Day!

  4. Dana

We all have our vices. And that is definitely one of the lesser of evils

  5. Heather C

    You go, Girl!

  6. Marcy

    Love it!!

  7. Dana

But honestly, why dignify it with a response… Some people are always looking for an ax to grind

  8. allyson

Another reason why I’m glad to be off Facebook, so glad to be away from that drama!! I feel ya Paige, I’m addicted to Diet Dr Pepper. Happy Paige Day!

    • BT

That’s me with regular Dr. Pepper lol usually McDonald’s drive thru

      • Jsturner1

Why is Dr P sooooo much better at Mcds???? It’s pretty much the only place I get it now. Nothing compares.

      • Heather

Oh my goodness McDonald’s Dr. pepper is amazing! I normally drop my preschooler off in the afternoon and run thru the drive thru for a $1 large. I don’t know what they do, but I love it! Last night, my husband offered to get me a fountain pop at the gas station and I declined since it’s never as good as McDonald’s….he thinks I’m crazy.

        • Blessed

My daughter is like that with McDonald’s coke and she wants it w/o ice and she believes it tastes particularly better than Coke anywhere else.

  9. S

Does it really put holes in your brain? I didn’t know! Cute costume. 🙂

  10. Jen

Yaaasss! We ALL have our guilty pleasures. I work at a mortuary and never seen death by Diet Coke. Life is for living – Live your life, Paige!

    • Leigh

      Lol challenge accepted!

  11. Tera

    You look adorable, Paige.

  12. Lisa

Paige looks great and life is too short to not indulge in some guilty pleasures. Personally I love an occasional coke zero along with wine🍷☺.

  13. Casey

    Some people’s kids, man…

Cute costume! Don’t worry about what people say behind the privacy of a computer screen!

  14. Natasha C

Oh my some people. I LOVE Diet Coke almost as much as I love books. There are FAR worse vices out there. Happy Paige Day!!

  15. Nicole

UGH people are SO IRRITATING. Quit judging people and live your own life! We all have different likes and dislikes and that’s okay!! Let’s just support each other or at the very least agree to disagree 👌

  16. Hellohiptosave

Why bring this to the app? This is not a deal. I could care less what beverage and addiction you have. Lord have mercy!!! Let’s get back to the savings! Did you post this about yourself, Paige?

    • Gentle

I think we found the person who posted the mean FB comment.

      • Brandy

Ha! I thought the same thing!

      • Melissa

No fun allowed around here, let’s get back to business…lol
I take it as a good deal for my soul to have a little fun with silly and simple stuff like this. Have a nice day!

      • Nora

        They’re everywhere!!

    • Brandy

And yet another cranky comment. Don’t look at the post if it doesn’t interest you!! Paige-you rock!!

    • Krissy

This is a community, not just a deal site.

    • Lel

Perhaps you should get a refund for the app. Oh wait,it’s free. Stop complaining!

    • Dana

That is NOT the way I intended it. Don’t twist my words.

  17. Marie

Trolls don’t like happy & pretty. Too bad!

    • Jess

You got them confused…..Those are the Bergens.

  18. Candice

    Happy Paige Day!!!

  19. Sue

I’ve been drinking diet coke on a daily basis for decades. I still manage to live an active life with no brain damage yet. Go for it Paige, your costume rocks!

  20. Cyn08

Paige looks Amazing! So what Diet Coke is bad for you, there are so many products out there that have not so great ingredients in them…..🙄 Those people should keep it to themselves and although I am not a fan of Coke products, I give her 👍🏻👍🏻!!

  21. Allison 💙

She is rockin’ that dress! ❤️

  22. Alli

Yup, this is one of the many reasons I said goodbye to Facebook almost two years ago! I must have a bunch of holes in my brain…. 🤔😑😄

  23. amanda

This post is so uncharacteristic of this site. 🤐

    • Sam

I second this. Really surprised to see Hip2save entertain this type of drama and negativity. I’ve followed Collin from the beginning and I’ve always liked how she doesnt give in to the drama.

      • Amy

Yeah I feel the same way. Not sure what the point of it is. I was surprised to read something like this on here and I hope that this isn’t the type of info you will continue to share. I like coming here for straight deals and do not want to see drama and for what it’s worth, I think this post was done in poor taste!

        • Maori

I agree with you. Repeating someone’s comment just validates it, not to mention Facebook high school drama is stupid. The artificial sweetener in Diet Soda has been linked to Alzheimer’s and mental health issues, so I would prefer people drink pop with real sugar, but I’m not going to be mean about it.

      • Marie

Without being hateful… I agree. This IS Collin’s app to do what she wishes, but I didn’t care for this post on the app, either. Just an opinion. Ms. Paige is lovely, and my comment has nothing to do with her at all.

        • Dana

This, I have to agree on.

          • Tina

            Third that

            • Lisa

              I agree.

        • Amy

I also agree with your comment.

    • april

To be fair, I imagine that they deal with this a lot. A lot. A lot. A lot, a lot, a lot. More than we even realize. Maybe they’re just trying to support a good friend and coworker. People are CONSTANTLY trying to drag you down so it’s nice to see positive or silly stuff… There’s always a nice way to say things. I don’t know why we’re all forgetting that.

      • Stacey

Paige is part of the Hip2Save team & apparently Collin sent her this costume as a joke. If I were Collin, I would absolutely bring this to my app to let people know that I wouldn’t tolerate people bashing my friend. Not sure why people can’t just keep scrolling if they don’t have anything nice to say.

      • Amy

I was surprised too. Hip2Save is always so positive and happy. It’s a welcome reprieve from all the negativity we face each day. But it’s true that I’m sure they all get a lot of mean comments, etc. from grumpy people with nothing better to do but put others down. Just hoping this doesn’t mean we will start seeing this kind of thing all the time. Lets stay positive, save some money and just ignore those dbags with the negativity lol!

      • Erin

Really? It seems to me that everyone feels the need to agree all the time–at least on the surface. Social media is one place where it is socially accepted to let loose and take down the facade (or not completely overthink every exchange to the point of tedium as it seems that many people do in their day-to-day lives). It seems to me that if you are putting yourself out there on social media, you can’t dictate the terms. Not everyone’s going to like your posts or interpret things the same way, and there is beauty in diversity. I hope Paige feels supported by this post, but to me it suggests that Hip2Save has become a homogenous, exclusive community in which everyone must agree. If your reaction isn’t some variation of “you go, girl” (or its flipside, “haters gonna hate”) you don’t belong, which is sad. (And no, I didn’t post the comment.)

        • Erika

They don’t have to “like the post”, that’s the freedom of moving right along from the post. What they don’t have to do is be a troll and bring someone else down, as the commenter did to Paige. Why is it wrong for Collin to call out someone’s rude comment on HER app but we should just ignore the internet trolls?! I see this post as Collin’s way of uplifting a friend that was torn down over a silly post about her love of Diet Coke. I’m happy to see it and support Collin’s choice. She does so much for her readers on a daily basis, this post doesn’t change any of that.

          • Christine

I agree that trolling is unnecessary and wrong, but shouldn’t this have been addressed on Facebook and then left on Facebook? It didn’t happen here and look at the drama that is unfolding here as a result. While it is true that this is Collin’s site, I am disappointed by this. I am sorry that this happened to Paige, support her choice, and wish her nothing but the best, but hope this platform will not be used for this type of post in the future.

          • Erin

So the you-go-girls can post but everyone else should scroll on by? That’s kinda my point. People can interpret things very differently. Most people see this post as an uplifting one supporting an employee. A minority see it differently, for different reasons, including me, but I recognize Collin’s right to post whatever she wants on her site. Readers have the rights to their opinions and comments, too, and I don’t think commenting that diet Coke puts holes in your brains is trolling or tearing anyone down. It sure sounded joking to me.

            • Lisa

Erin, I see and agree with your point of view. If any site that allows comments posts something they are open to receiving comments, good or bad. I don’t always think bad comments are helpful or necessary but they have the right to their opinion just like the positive opinions do.

    • Vicky

You don’t like the post? Move on! There is a lot of things I don’t like, but that does not mean i have to put my two cents in everything. People like different things, if you don’t like something, that’s ok, no one is forcing you. And if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

      • Holly

Came to post the same thing! Well said!

    • Shannon

Totally! She usually just quietly deletes drama comments and threads. That’s why I love this site. It’s about the deals and positivity not the negative. Disappointed today. 😔

    • Amber

Agree. Everything always turns into some sort of debate or political statement nowadays. If you post something on social media, people are allowed to post their opinions and *gasp* they might not be the same as yours! And that’s okay. Also, just because someone disagrees with you doesn’t mean they’re being hateful. My 4 year old is in the process of understanding this. I’m not sure why it’s so difficult for some adults.

Hopefully posts like these won’t become the norm. I would love nothing more than to have just one place to be able to read about one of my favorite things (yay, coupons!) without having to weed through all the nonsense.

      • Mom24boyz

It’s called being a bully and I hope that you teach your kids to recognize one and then take up for their friend if needed. God forbid we “fight back” when bullies attack.

        • Amber

Mom24boys, someone stating a fact that you don’t like is not the same as bullying. If someone called her names or threatened to harm her, then that would be bullying and people should take a stand against that. I hope you teach your kids that people are allowed to hold different viewpoints than themselves, that facts are facts whether they like it or not, and if they try to silence any person who doesn’t share the same views as themselves, then they’re the bully.

          • Mom24boyz

I totally agree with you and I’m not talking about those comments. There were some pretty nasty ones and every now and then those people need to be called out.

      • april

Also, I went through and read a few comments. Initially, people who just said that the drink was unhealthy for various reasons were met with a kind response. It was cool and civil. Then commenters started getting pretty snarky and nasty. There is definitely a nice way to disagree and I do believe that differing opinions and diversity are beautiful things. Just not when someone is being intentionally condescending or hurtful.

        • S

Why so sensitive to diet coke comments? Yeah, it’s not a healthy drink (so what’s new?).Yeah, people should not be rude. But why is this such a sensitive topic that it gets a post? I don’t check fb h2s so I guess I’m just surprised to see this on h2s.

    • april

Actually, this has happened once before. I can’t remember how long ago because I’ve been following Collin and her team for a long time. But Collin posted a deal about some kind of junk food, maybe Oreos? People were making comments about how bad it is to let her kids eat them. She basically said that she wrote out a big post about it but ended up shortening it to just about the same thing this said: it’s my life and if I want to, I can. 👍

  24. Jenifer

I am out of Diet Coke and feel like I have a hole in my brain! I totally get the guilty pleasure!

  25. carol

Yes. My guilty pleasure Diet Dr. Pepper with a chicken salad no dressing.

  26. Lolie

Omg! Some people should just keep their mean comments to themselves! Enjoy your Diet Coke 😊

  27. Angela

Love this. And cheers from a fellow Diet Coke addict!!

  28. Jacki

Some people are crazy! Enjoy your Diet Coke and I love the dress! If that’s the worst thing you enjoy on a daily basis you are living a pretty clean life. 😁

  29. Jess T.

Paige, you look awesome in your dress. Don’t worry about the naysayers. Some people aren’t happy unless they can drag you down to their own level of misery. Keep being you!! Btw, I love salted caramels and Diet Dr. Pepper…contradiction, I know…lol.

  30. aroaden1983

Paige you are my sister from another mister! My vice is regular Coke! Stop at McDonald’s every morning on my way to work and get my fix… one large Coke please! Love the outfit! Need a regular Coke one to match!

  31. Ellen

Paige totally rocks the Diet Coke dress! You go girl! Ignore the negative people, they are jealous!

  32. Mollie

    Diet Mountain Dew all day.

  33. Pharmchick

That outfit is so cute! We all have our vices!! Personally don’t like colas but I could chug sprite all day long haha! Enjoy!

  34. Amy

Enjoy your soda!!! Don’t worry about what rude comments people make.

  35. Tammy

Paige, you look super cute in your outfit! Don’t let negative comments from someone behind a computer get you down. You do you!!

  36. Jess

I love Diet Coke and this site. Thanks for the smile.

  37. Julie

I love mac n cheese cups and almond snickers! ❤️

  38. Tina9222

    Dear troll, I mean hellohiptosave…
It’s Friday take a rest from the awesome wkly deals we all love and ENJOY the weekend! OR ENJOY A DIET COKE”
    Hahahahaha!!!!!! Haters will hate!

    • Julie

That wasn’t very nice, imo. 🙁 And certainly not in the spirit of this post, which was about supporting others and letting them be themselves without stooping to a lower level.. Anyway – good for you Paige, and for everyone else on here for being so supportive!

  39. Susan Crawford

My addiction is Diet Pepsi so what. I will never understand why people “choose ” to troll pages like this. Just another reason to stay away from Facebook. I have cut my Facebook back because people are so rude and I have had enough of rude, ignorant commentary.

One more thing, my mother passed away in April at the age of 84. She drank Pepsi, Diet Pepsi for at least 70 years, it didn’t kill her.

  40. S

Huh??? I’m confused. I could check fb to get up to speed, I really don’t care. Not worth my time & not worth yours, whoever wrote this post. We’ve got better things to do! 🙂

  41. Erika

I LOVE this post! Collin, you and your team are role models for taking the high road and not responding to negativity but sometimes the trolls need to be put in their places. Paige, you drink your Diet Coke and enjoy your life! I’m currently enjoying an ice-cold Coke while reading this post. 😂

  42. tleeg

Im sure the person who posted that either drinks 10 cups of coffee a day or smokes a pack of cigarettes a day. I personally think diet coke is horrible, but to each his own.

  43. Amy

Nobody has commented yet about the fact that Colin asked her why she didn’t buy a 12 pack! My jaw would drop too! It’s just not the same as an ice cold fountain drink!!! Mine is Diet Dr. Pepper though and I can indulge because of all the money I save here!

  44. Francie Pages

    You go girl💯

  45. Tudie

    Go Paige!!

  46. Heather

I work for a company that deals with food. I can’t say much else except that if the general public saw things I know/see we would all die of starvation. Lol. Ignorance is bliss I say. If diet coke makes you happy then drink it!

    • Rebecca

Lol I don’t doubt that at all. Ignorance is bliss.

  47. Tracee

I drink Coke 0 sugar! Drink on Paige!!!

  48. beth pitt

Don’t ya just love ppl who sit hide behind a computer screen and judge others? Lol And besides, I’m sure the comment was made out of jealously due to the fact that Paige looks better in the dress than they would. Give it rest, haters. haha

    • Grace

So, just so I’m sure I’m following you – you don’t think it’s acceptable for someone to make a judgemental comment towards Paige because stating a fact about diet coke is supposedly hateful, so you’re going to sit behind your computer screen and judge the person who made the original comment by making assumptions about their physical appearance? You might want to check that hypocrisy.

And I drink diet coke with the best of them. I just don’t get butthurt when someone says how bad it is, because it is.

      • Hashin

Isn’t nearly everything bad for us nowadays? You can buy totally organic, plant based and find out that it was treated with something that somehow is potentially harmful. Life is too short and people have their own free agency.

      • beth pitt

Your obviously “butthurt” on something I said, considering the lengthy reply to my post..

        • Grace

Yes, spelling out words in full and using correct grammar does tend to make posts a tad lengthier than those who don’t.

Glad to see you’re not in denial about being a judgemental hypocrite.

          • Amy

ALL of this commenting rudeness is why I wish this would have just stayed on Facebook and would be deleted now. I think we have bigger issues than Diet Coke to deal with. The Diet Coke comments are telling as to why we are having such a hard time coming up with solutions together as a nation. This chick drinks Diet Coke…who cares? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you put it on social media then people will comment. But still, who cares? It’s unhealthy…okay but who cares? You want people to only content if it’s nice, why do you care? Can you not keep scrolling past that as well? Calling each other names over DIET COKE? Really? This is just sad and shows how judgemental we have becomes to one another as a nation. Is it social media? What is causing all this judgement? Guys don’t let DIET COKE make you judge. Don’t let anything make you judge others. We can’t do anything constructive (even on a larger scale than Diet Coke, kwim) if we can’t listen to each other and not be ***holes.

      • Darby

        Hear! Hear!

  49. Krysta

This reminds me of a post a while ago by Keanu Reeves:

“My friend’s mom has eaten healthy all her life. Never ever consumed alcohol or any ‘bad’ food, exercised every day, very limber, very active, took all supplements suggested by her doctor, never went in the sun without sunscreen and when she did it was for as short a period as possible – so pretty much she protected her health with the utmost that anyone could. She is now 76 and has skin cancer, bone marrow cancer and extreme osteoporosis.

My friend’s father eats bacon on top of bacon, butter on top of butter, fat on top of fat, never and I mean never exercised, was out in the sun burnt to a crisp every summer, he basically took the approach to live life to his fullest and not as others suggest. He is 81 and the doctors say his health is that of a young person.

People you cannot hide from your poison. It’s out there and it will find you so in the words of my friend’s still living mother: ‘if I would have known my life would end this way I would have lived it more to the fullest enjoying everything I was told not to!’”

    • Rebecca

      Isn’t that the truth!

    • Katie

      This is spot on!🙌🏻❤️

  50. Amy

Can’t imagine what they’d say about my Mtn Dew addiction haha. Rude know-it-alls are the absolute worst!

    • Amy

Also, good grief! I just went to that post to read the comments. I’m sorry people felt that they have any right to tell you what you should or shouldn’t be doing. I’m sure they never eat or drink anything with artificial ingredients *insert eye roll gif*
