Love YOUR Amazon Fire Tablet?

The holidays are just around the corner, and you may want to consider snagging your kiddos their own! For a limited time, Amazon is offering up the all-new Fire HD 8 Kids Edition 8″ Tablet for only $99.99 shipped (regularly $129.99) when you use promo code KIDSFIRE8 at checkout!

This tablet comes with so many perks, and my most favorite… the 2-year worry-free guarantee! If it gets broken, you simply return it and they will replace it for FREE. No questions asked.

In addition, when you purchase this tablet, you will receive one FREE year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited which gives you access to over 13,000 kid-friendly books, educational apps, games, movies, and TV shows from Disney, Nickelodeon, PBS, Amazon Originals for Kids, and more.

And, as if that is not enough, this tablet also comes with a Kid-Proof Case (available in several colors), has an 8″ HD display, up to 12 hours of battery life, and 32 GB of internal storage which can be expanded with a microSD card.

Best of all, it’s ready for use out of the box – no setup, no software to install, and no computer required to download content.

My kids both have these – my daughter’s recently had issues charging (it’s almost 2 years old), I sent it in, and we got a new kindle (no charge!). The warranty is great, and my kids have seriously stood on theirs and not had them break!

The Kindles were the best money I spent on the kids. They were around ages 3 & 6 when I got them. (they still work perfect 2-3 years later) I pay for the amazon free time and they’re full of parental controls. You can turn off web search, downloads, anything you want.

Does anyone know if you can download the abc mouse app on these? Thanks!

    • Jo28p

Yes! We have it. You’ll download it under the adult’s account then add it to the child’s profile (there’s an option to add content).

  2. Kelli

Can you download YouTube kids on this?

    • shea

      Yes

    • D99

      Thanks!

    • Maria

we haven’t been able to as it isn’t available in the Amazon App Store

I am so new to the technology world for my kiddos… I have a 6 year old girl and 4 year old boy. Would this be something they would use? Is my youngest too young? Is my oldest too old? Thoughts? Can it be used offline – (Ie – In the car?)

    • Mommy2Bear

My 9 yr old nephew has one and my just turned 5 lo has one. They are great. Can be used on the go. Easy to download content to as well.

    • JES

My 3 1/2 year old uses hers often. It is very easy to use, works great on the go. We travel a lot, so it gets used in the car mostly. Easy to download content and has held up well to her abuse.

I can’t decide if I should wait to buy these on Black Friday. 🤔

    • Jo

We’re in the same boat 🙂

    • Kermina

They sold it for 89.99 on Prime Day. That’s the lowest and they may or may not match that for Black Friday. I went ahead and bought today because then I don’t have to fight with others on a limited quantity on Black Friday.

My 8 1/2 year old wants one. He has never had a tablet or video games. Will this be good for him? He wants to be able to play minecraft. Are you able to get minecraft?
How much is the free time after the year is up? Is there content on there that an 8 year old would enjoy?
I’m trying to decide whether to get this or the
regular kindle fire. Is there a difference?

    • katie

I got this one for my 8 yr old. You can switch it back and forth. The free time has tons of books and apps which is nice. I downloaded the big kid games onto the “normal” side.

  6. Beth

Do you think there will be a better deal in Black Friday?

  7. Lauren

Would you suggest one per kid or could they reasonably share one without much trouble?

    • Paula

One per kid is highly recommended. You can create separate profiles on one device, but they will surly wind up driving you crazy fighting over it. 🙂

      • Lauren

        Thank you!

    • Jo28p

I would do one per kid.

      • Lauren

        Thank you!

Have they sold for lower? Should we wait for black Friday?

    • Kermina

They sold it for 89.99 on Prime Day. That’s the lowest and they may or may not match that for Black Friday. I went ahead and bought today because then I don’t have to fight with others on a limited quantity on Black Friday.

        Thank you 😊

We got this for our 2yo for a cross country road trip and love it. We downloaded a few movies from Netflix and saved apps under her profile. When we were in the hotels we were able to use Wi-Fi and have unlimited access. We ordered from Amazon but it didn’t get shipped in time so cancelled and got same thing at the same price from target plus used red card for 5% off.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Glad to hear how well it worked for you on your trip! Thanks for sharing your experience!

  10. Kermina

I don’t think the deal will be much better on Black Friday. Maybe they’ll match their prime day price of 89.99, but it’ll be on limited quantities so you’re fighting with others. I’d rather pay $10 more to have it guaranteed.

  11. Denise

Is that a dog? I’m not sure

  12. momof3

Can you do anything on it if you aren’t connected to wifi? I would like to use these on car trips

    • Jo

Depends on the apps. Some need internet connection, some not. For example, the crossyroad app. The regular version could be play offline. But the Disney one needs to be connected to internet.

  13. Clif

I have the Kindle 8 for my toddler. Is this better for them or am I good with the Kindle 8?

    • Jo

I have two Kindle 8 for my girls, they’re 10 and 5. The youngest have it since she’s 3. It’s still working good except the memory space. Mine are older version, there’s no way to add external memory. So, it really comes back to what you need.

  14. Danielle

Is there an easy way to download kids shows to these? We have apps we use on our iPhones now for when our two year old needs distracted but they require data when out & about…

  15. Megan

Can anyone explain the difference between the kids fire tablet and the regular fire tablet. I know it comes with the case and the free time app but are there other differences?
