Just a heads up for you short mommys out there, I’m 5’1 and these carriers awful for my back. I think it’s because it’s made for a longer torso.

Darn! Sorry to hear these have hurt your back! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Amazing deal!!! I loved my ergo and used it with 3 babies!!

Sweet! Good to know how much you have liked yours! Thanks for the feedback!

Love my Ergo! This is a great price for the original. My kids have never liked facing out, so the 360* Ergo wasn’t needed.

I’m a short mommy (5’2). I didn’t have any problems with this carrier hurting my back. I did have to adjust the bottom strap every time I sat, bent down or did stairs since my legs would push up on the bottom and slide it off my hips (I assumed this was a short mom problem, but I dunno). I loved it and used it a ton before my kids learned to walk.

Thanks for your review Amy! Glad you enjoyed wearing yours!

Love my ergo. The best carrier (in my limited opinion) once babies are about 12 lbs I think. Not ideal for little little little babies as you have to have an additional insert (either the Ergo one that’s about $25 or using your own towels/blankets strategically placed on the bottom of the carrier)

But it’s still my favorite carrier I tried.

FYI – they have the Susan G Komen Gray Ergo on clearance at my TJ Maxx right now for $48. I bought one and left 3 there for other Mamas.

I had 2 ergos and a small baby girl and they killed my back. I’m 5’7″ and I see some shorter moms had a hard time wearing these too. They also hurt my hubbies back. That being said, I know some people really like them. I’d suggest going somewhere like Buy Buy Baby and seeing if you can try it on for a little while before buying one.

Look into a BabyWearing International group near you. They often have “try on” events with helpers to get the right fit

I’m 5’2″ and love my ergo!!! I agree that it’s not the best for newborns, but I’ve worn my kids for years in it. Great investment!

For people saying the ergo hurt their back, just in case people didn’t know, i just wanted to throw out that the ergo has so many places to adjust that i just recently found out about-and I’m 4 years into using the thing. It made a world of difference. There are you tube videos that show all of this-i actually thought they were better at informing than the info ergo gives.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks for the helpful tip Heather!

If your back hurts your wearing this pack wrong. The bottom hip strap should be over your hips not over your stomach/ mid back .. also they need to be broken in wash and dry a few times..Mine was stiff at first. People have the same problems with hiking packs – if your wearing it wrong, it will hurt! Good luck mama’s.

How is the sizing? I’m a plus size Mom and am concerned it wouldn’t fit around me.
