Take a look at Orientaltrading.com they have great deals on party supplies for all different types of parties. From Favosr, table decor, candy, etc. I’ve bought alot there over the years.

Use craigslist and ebay to buy things used. Your daughter will never know the difference, and you can save a boatload of money. Best of luck!

When buying or booking (bakery, florist, venue) never use the *big* words. Don’t say wedding, quincienera, sweet sixteen….stick with a generic party, reunion, etc. Prices can jump for the same item or service based solely on semantics.

Agreed, that’s why on my wedding day, I had my hair done for a party… never mentioning I was the bride.

        Thanks Karen

I’m a freelance photographer if you need one 😉

Also, consider “buy/sell/trade” Facebook pages near you., especially wedding ones (as I assume a lot of the decorations or favors would be similar). People who buy things and then don’t need them frequently sell them at a discount there. Also, Hobby Lobby frequently had 50% off on a lot of wedding stuff that I think could double for a quinceneara.

Just really do your research. I was shocked that our hall charged $8 per rented tablecloth. I ordered my own off the internet for $5 each but I wasn’t prepared to have to steam (24) 10ft round tablecloths that had been folded into a 9×13 rectangle, plus 24 table runners. I had to buy a floor steamer & steamed every day for the week before. Then I had to wash everything! & they were cheaper quality, 1/3 of them stayed stained. I did take a gamble on ordering centerpieces from Hong Kong off eBay that turned out beautiful, we put them in dollar tree vases with black electric tea lights I bought for 75% off after Halloween at Wal-Mart. We also did tons of glow necklaces, bracelets, rings that I bought for 75% off as well.

Thank you Jen for all the helpful information

Can I ask who you used to get your tablecloths from? I keep trying to figure out where to get them from but I start reading reviews and get so confused. Does anyone have suggestions on where to buy from?
      Thank you!

Maybe come up with a list of what you want to actually do or how you want the party to look. If you can make anything instead of buying something already made definitely might save you some money there. If anyone you know can cook the food or make the cake that will save you a lot as well. And if you can’t have it at your house maybe someone you know has a place big enough to have the birthday. All these will definitely save you money. If anything has to be bought try Offer Up, Facebook garage sale groups, or thrift stores, or ask family or friends. Hope this helps.

Also for a teenager needing a dress they usually want a brand new one I recommend Charlotte Russe. They normally have dresses under $40 and they may even have a coupon on their app you can pair with it. They also have clearance racks.

An idea for flowers – buy realistic fake filler plants (with little buds, baby’s breath, greenery/ferns) and add a few living large bloom flowers on the day of the party – nobody will ever suspect any of it isn’t real. Also – you can make the faux part of the arrangements ahead of time if you use floral foam or marbles (to keep arranged stems from moving around) whenever you have time for MUCH less $$$ and get exactly what look you want – just add water when you add the real flowers just before the party! If the vase is clear – netting, wide ribbon bunched up, colored wax paper, or thin fabric pieces can add decoration and obscure the ugly plant stems. Happy quinceanera to your daughter!!!

They don’t have a good selection of sizes. It would be nice if they catered to the curvier women, also.

I bought table runners for our wedding from http://www.linentablecloths.com. Quality was good. I ordered the wrong length, they were about a foot too long.. Tried a variety of hemming ideas — finally just used pinking shears. Quick and simple. I did have to iron them. I threw out any that were dirty/stained. It was still a bargain compared to renting!

It’s true that it’s very hard to get married without spending lots of money! I think that it would be so great to have a wedding budget and be able to actually stick to it! I love the idea of renting your dress because you are able to have a designer gown without spending tons of money. https://www.gownsbypamela.com
