If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you, Aldi sells very similar advent calendars (and other yummy German Christmas goodies)!

    • Rebecca

What if you don’t have an Aldi’s or Trader Joe’s? Lol.

      • Lisa A

How about Big Lots? They often have great international foods including German goodies! I was born in Germany so I’m constantly hunting for flavors from the old country 🙂

        • Rebecca

          Thanks, I’ll look there!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh cool! Thanks for the heads up!

    • Atm

      Thanks!!

Has anybody tried these? Is the chocolate any good? I’ve had other cheap advent calendars before, but they have very waxy chocolate that nobody wants to eat and just ends up thrown out.

    • Becca

My sister buys these for my son every year. They are super yummy! The chocolates are small, but perfect for a small treat for kids. Totally worth it!!

    • Brittany

I wouldn’t recommend the .99 ones. I bought one for each member of our family last year and nobody would eat the chocolate! It was gross!

    • MermaidMommy

I love Trader Joe’s, but the .99 cent advent calendar chocolate tastes HORRIBLE.

    • Rachel Macias

Yes, we have bought them a few times. Chocolate is not good but my kids always enjoy it.

    • Natasha Graf

The chocolate is terrible. The calendar itself is cute tough.

    • Oshea

They are not waxy at all. They are a high quality Swiss chocolate, despite their low price. I have been buying them for a few years.

    • Brittany

At this price you could probably just buy one for a taste test 😉

    • Mary

The chocolate used to be great, but it seems like the past few years the chocolate hasn’t tasted good at all. Fred Meyer sells advent calendars for something like $.25/$.50 more and the chocolate is supposed to taste good (or so I’ve heard).

  3. Ashley

    Awesome price!

  4. Debbie

Good deal, World Market is $1.49 each

  5. Nina

Yes, these look super cute for kiddos! And for 99 cents? Even better.

I picked up 2 for my kids a few days ago. Definitely a bargain compared to the Lego advent calendars I’ve been buying up until last year!

  7. Silvie

I buy these calendars for my three kids every year and they are always a hit! And the chocolate is great. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.

    • Pamela

I bought 3 last night for my kids. I think they will be better quality than the grocery store ones I have been buying. My daughter thought the grocery store tasted like dog food . I think these will be great and they are .50 cheaper.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Glad to hear they have always been well liked! Thanks for sharing Silvie!

  8. Liz

I got these for the first time last year and will definitely be buying more for the kids this year. I was really impressed with the quality of the chocolate as I was expecting waxy and yucky for the price. Each piece is small but really good.

Does anyone know if these are peanut free? Thanks!

    • Elsa

My kids all have peanut allergies to varying degrees and have eaten these w/o any problems.

    Team Aldi’s

  11. jishmo

I think I need to run by Trader Joes!

  12. Rachel

Tuesday Morning had some nice ones for $1.49 the other day. Hoping the chocolate is a better quality.

  13. Sarah

I bought the Cat version the other day and turned it over to find cat finger puppets included- cracked me up!

  14. Amber

They sell out fast at TJs! Our store has just a handful!

  15. MaaMaaBear

The chocolate is awful in these! Even my kids would not eat it! Very waxy, fake tasting. Not even worth .99! I gave them a try for about 3 years hoping they would improve but they never do!
