Does anyone know if there are additional charges when you file?

    • Staci

I was wondering the same thing. Thinking about tackling it myself this year instead of dropping $400 for someone else to do it.

      • Staci

Having my refund put on to an Amazon card sounds dangerous! ha!

        • Queenjen87

No, you get up to 5 free federal efiles. Efile for state is 14.99 for the first I believe. You can print and send as many as you like.

The only reason I havenā€™t chosen the amazon gift card bonus is that is considered taxable income on the 5%. I doubt it would be much, but no thanks!

I may go ahead and get one of these today. Thanks!

Yes, I always just print and mail in the state forms.

Also, I just use enough of my refund toward amazon bonus to cover the cost of the software; $30 since I have to get the Premium version. Makes me feel a little better about the whole thing šŸ˜€

Iā€™m a tax accountant and the software takes you step by step on where and how to enter info. My firm doesnā€™t accept clients with simple returns because itā€™s almost like robbing you. You should def try it on your own. Youā€™d be surprised how simple it is and will most likely wonder why you didnā€™t do it sooner! Hope this helps!

The only charge Iā€™ve ever had is to e-file. Nothing beyond that.

    • Libby

I used this for my 2016 taxes. It was great. The box I bought calculates your state taxes, but you do have to pay an additional charge to file the state taxes online. You could print them out & mail them in for free, but we decided to pay the fee to file them online.

        PS—I had the purple one.

      • Libby

PS again …. to be clear, I had the $19.99 one.

    • Aimee

if you buy the one with the state included, you don’t pay anything, unless you have multiple states that you need to file in. I was able to e-file everything, but that may depend on what state you live in….

    • Carlyn

For Illinois, I can efile for free. It pretty simple copying the output from HR Block.

I always have to complete 2 state returns each year. Does anyone know a good way to purchase a 2nd state software package? Last year, I think I paid around $40 for the 2nd state return through the H&R Block website. I wish they would offer a federal and 2 state software package. Not sure if just purchasing 2 separate federal and 1 state packages would work. Any ideas?

    • Libby

My sister had 2 state returns last year, so I used TurboTax to file for her. It was free & online.

  3. Kristi

I had a $1 No Rush promotional credit applied to my order, so I got it for $12.99. šŸ˜€

Last year (and the year before) the Amazon bonus was 10%
