Target Offering Same-Day Delivery in 2018

Have you heard the news?

Target just announced that they are acquiring Shipt, a same-day delivery company, with plans to offer same-day delivery at approximately 50% of Target stores, starting in 2018. And by the 2018 holiday season, it will be an option at the majority of Target stores, and in all major markets. Wow! 😮

Beginning next Spring, Target guests can visit Shipt.com to see if the service is available in their area. If it is, the $99 annual membership fee will allow shoppers to get same-day delivery services from their local Target store for the entire year. That’s like paying just $8.25 per month to have Target products delivered to your house on the SAME DAY! Go here for more details.

I wonder if you’ll be able to use coupons or at least cartwheel?

    • Nicole

Shipt doesn’t accept coupons. They currently work out of my market for Meijer. The prices are also higher than in store.

  2. Belle

Whoa! That’ll be cool to have next year.

  3. Lo

This would actually save me money … every time I go into Target it’s at least $100 … I walk in for toothpaste and check out with $100 worth of stuff 😂

    • Kristy

      Lol

    • LF

      Me too!

    • Elvira

Lol! So true! Target might have to stop this service because they won’t get all those last minute purchases.

  4. Kalynn

Ha! Does Target not realize how much extra money I spend there than I intended to every single time I go shopping??! Good for me, but bad for them!!!

    • Daniela

Majority of my money goes to the clearance end caps hahaha if I don’t go into the store, I will just get what I needed. This is interesting concept though.

  5. Sonia

    I love you target!

  6. Amy

Probably wouldn’t be great if you can’t use coupons but great for the times my kids are sick and I need things and can’t get to the store.

  7. Heidi

    Wut

  8. Sandy

Very interesting I feel like more and more stores are providing convenience service fees nowadays.

  9. Kay

It would be nice if there was an incentive for being a Red Card holder.

    • Heidi

We get 5% off purchases and free shipping.

  10. Jayme

We have Shipt for Meijer stores here. It’s great but prices are nominally different when buying through there compared to in store (as an example a loaf of bread would be $1.29 instead of $1.09) and you don’t necessarily get the sale prices and can’t use coupons. They had a promo when they first started that gave you a one year subscription (free delivery all orders over $35for a year) and save $25 on your first order. As someone that just had a c-section two weeks ago and lives in Ohio where winter can be brutal, it’s wonderful for groceries!

    • sarah

Agree! It’s a little better now that you can apply M perks but still no digital coupons. I did find it handy for delivering Pedialyte when my toddlers were sick with the stomach flu and I had ny wisdom teeth removed! I got the annual membership deal and use it sparingly. I don’t know that I would pay $14 a month of $99 a year for it, though.

yay! totally competing with Amazon – good news!

  12. camichigan

Very convenient but would only use if coupons, cartwheel, or other discounts available.

  13. Camille

You can’t use coupons with Shipt

  14. southern

    Omg that is AMAZING!!!!!!!

  15. laureen

I work for shipt here in florida, I highly doubt you would be able to use coupons are cartwheel. Here we only have publix but I know in other states they have different stores that are shopped differently.

  16. Heidi

    Honestly, the idea of those

  17. Sarah

There’s no way I’m paying for amazon prime AND shipt. Amazon wins, hands down.

The thought through my mind is the competition it would give Hyvee in the Midwest. Hyvee started aisles online a year or two ago so people can order their groceries online and have them delivered for a fee. I think k it’s around $8 I heard, but I haven’t personally used the service. I’ve seen busy moms praise the service on fb.

  19. Kathy

I wouldn’t recommend this website to anyone. I participated in their new user program. New users received $15/15 for their first order. I also used a referrral to join. By using the referral, I earned $10 credit. The $15 and $10 credits stacked allowing you to get $25 off your first purchase. When you spend $35, you get free shipping. So essentially, you’re paying $10 for $35 worth of groceries with free shipping.

After my order arrived, they removed the new user $15 credit AND the $10 credit. I was suppose to only pay $10 but got an email for $35!! I called to inquire why this happened and they told me that I wasn’t allowed to use my own referral code. But I didn’t use my own referral. I gave them the referral I used and apparently their system isn’t designed in a way where they can look up users by referral codes. They were of no help after that and I couldn’t fight to get a refund.

Also, I can’t even dispute the charges with my CC because they didn’t send an order confirmation with my original charges. They only send a delivery confirmation email showing your final charges. They also updated my order confirmation in my account so there’s no paper trail to prove that I even had $25 in credits. L

    • Beth

I had something similar where my new user credit didn’t come off my order I chatted into customer service and they were able to fix it for me.

  20. Diana

I’d cnsider using it. Amazon Prime has gotten to the point where I question the worth of that annual fee. Two day shipping has gotten so much harder to accomplish. Just today, I ordered something that won’t ship until Monday, and won’t arrive until Wednesday. I considered paying for overnight shipping, but that would have had it arrive on Tuesday. That’s quite a wait when you have Prime and you order on a Friday morniing. A lot has changed regarding Prime, and it’s not falling in my favor… I have the Target Red Cad and more often than not I get my order within two days, even if I order on a Friday.

    • dana

I hold their feet to the fire, so to speak. I will usually chat with them and they upgrade me to one day shipping and waive or refund the fee.

      • TStange05

Yes! I have done this several times.

  21. Beth

I use Shipt right now for our local grocery store. We can link our shopper card to use ecoupins, but not paper ones. Also, the price on shipt us slightly more expensive (they say you will pay an average of $5 more on a $35 order). For me, my hubby does the grocery shopping and this is great for those things I want and forgot to tell him about. It is nice that they deliver to the house, which will be even better when we have a newborn next summer. I signed up for $50 for a year, making it completely worth it to me.

  22. dana

I can honestly say, and agree with the above poster, amazon wins on this one for me. Way more competitive pricing and more variety if harder to find items.

  23. CAS

Am I the only one who thinks these delivery Services are silly?! Why not just go to the store?!

    • Kim B

Well, when you just had surgery, a senior citizen, or just had a baby etc. it’s so needed. Also when we just had a huge storm in Michigan and Meijer had a three day Nintendo 2ds XL promotion, it was a snow day. But I was able to get my boys their Christmas presents 🎁 and sneak it through the kitchen 😀.

    • Nicole

It saves me a ton of time so I don’t have to go to work at 5am, get done, and then grocery shop, and miss time with my kids. It frees up so much time for me.

  24. Bentley2822

I find ordering from Target’s website is always a hassle. And forget about in store pick up. For a store like target im surprised they never seem to get things right Not sure how this will work.

  25. Lacey

Not interested. Since Target started shipping from the nearest store with the items ordered in stock, I have been getting orders in 2 days. It is very rare that I need something the same day so not worth the jacked up prices plus the yearly fee.
