I’m in for one as well. I bought a Food Network set from Kohl’s 2 years ago but they have problems with them getting rust stains on them no matter how I washed them (hand wash or dishwasher). After calling the company they told me to never put them in the dishwasher and to always hand wash and dry immediately. Do all good cutlery do this?
I had the same problem with a set of knives from food network that I bought from Kohls, all the knives rusted in the first few months. Such a waste !!
In short yes, all good quality cutlery should only be hand washed and hand dried immediately. The type of steel used in high end cutlery is typically high carbon, and while it is phenomenal in hardness and edge retention, high carbon blades are prone to rust. A dishwasher should never be used to wash knives, as the detergent can actually dull the blade. Good quality forged high carbon cutlery will last a lifetime with proper care.
