UDPATE from Hip2Save Team: Sam’s Club just updated the fine print of the offer to state that the three month extension of membership and requests for refunds apply only to members in closing clubs. This information was not in the fine print earlier when this post was first published so we apologize for any confusion.

Is your Sam’s Club one of the 60+ clubs closing soon?

Through March 31st, members in closing clubs can head on over here and score a FREE 3-Month Sam’s Club Membership Extension (so you can continue to shop online at SamsClub.com and at other Sam’s Club locations). OR you can opt to cancel your membership with a full refund via either e-gift card or a check.

And the best part – it takes just a minute or so of your time!

Follow These Simple Steps to Extend Your Membership:
  • Go HERE and click the first ‘free 3-month extension offer’ option
  • Enter your member number and information
  • That’s IT! You should receive your confirmations within 2 minutes!

When submitting your request, you will receive a confirmation email that your request is being processed. If the home address they have on file is not associated with a closing club, you will be notified with a second email in 3-5 business days with further instructions.

      Woohoo!

Thank you!! Sam’s club in my area is great (no Costco here). While I don’t appreciate the way some stores have reportedly been closed, they’re not the first company to do so, and won’t be the last. Certainly not saying that’s okay, but if I want to keep MY club open- and I do- I need to continue to shop there and support the employees that still work there.

    • dealzgurl

Well, MY club STAYED busy. It was always hard to find a parking spot there no matter what time of day or week I went. So I have no idea why it is closing. It was very well supported. And, yes, stores do close all the time. And some of the smaller ones have no choice but to simply shut down without notice. But Wal-mart is a huge company. I still say there’s no excuse for how they handled it. They left their employees and their customers hanging. Not cool.

      • Bruce Belligan

They probably just didn’t want to lose all their merchandise through theft.

  3. BlueHarvest

I extended my membership and this is the immediate email I received…and I don’t live near a store that is closing:

  4. Amy

So, if my membership expires at the end of February, would it extend from NOW, or would it extend from the Feb. date?

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi Amy! It should be tacked on the the end of your membership. Hope that helps!

  5. bnkb1100

    Thank you!!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welcome!

  6. LisaG29

Thanks. That was easy. I got my confirmation email right away too.

  7. Jennifer

Got my extension thank you for posting!
Side not fellow couponers. This isn’t a blog this is a coupon and deals site. If you hate Sam’s and prefer Costco that’s great but for this of us wanting this deal can you keep your negativity to yourself? It took me five minutes to sort through the comments. If you dont like a store you don’t have to cut down those that do. Negative comments only help with an actual product. Then we know to not waste our money. But if we are choosing an extension we obviously already enjoy the store. TIA

    • Laura

      Amen!

    • Jennifer

Agree! I just wanted to read the comments to see if this was working for people.

    • Tina

Jennifer, I didn’t read any comments where people were cutting down others who like Sams, and only a handful of the comments even mentioned preferring Costco. Not sure what you’re complaining about, but I agree that people should keep their negativity to themselves.

    • Kim B

Thank you totally agree! These negative people on this site are getting quite out of hand.

  8. Stephanie

Thank you! I just renewed my membership this week. Nice to get 3 extra months. Without H2S I would have never known about this. 🙂

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Glad we could help you grab the 3 months FREE! YW!

  9. Amy Knightley

Aren’t they closing 60 stores or so?
    What is happening?

  10. Kelly

Awesome, thank you so much my membership was set to expire tomorrow. I really appreciate it!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welcome!

  11. Susan

Has anyone seen it change on their membership page? Mine still is listing my original expiration date, even tho i received the email stating it was extended 3 months.

    • T

I think somewhere it mentioned it would show up within 7 days.

  12. Ang

Thank you! We do not have a Costco so I am grateful we have some option for cheaper bulk shopping.

  13. Jeana

I never got an email. It’s been over an hour. Does this mean I didn’t get the extension?

  14. AS

Thanks,I just received an email from them.

  15. jen

Ours was expired and it still accepted it! I got an immediate email stating it was extended!

  16. Sarah H

My membership expired in Sept – but I tried anyway. It processed and I got the email – we’ll see if it actually worked!

  17. danielle

my membership expired already. will i have to purchase a new one to get the deal or can i just get the 3months without having a current membership?

    • v

Mine expired in August and it appears that this worked for me. I got the confirmation email. I will have to wait and see if in the 7 days that it does in fact become active again.

      • Danielle

Yeah i received the email also. I logged into my sams acct and a msg popped up asking for me to renew my membership. So i guess i will have to wait and see.

        • wklsunflower

Mine didnt show up either thats why i called and was told this is only for those whose sams is closing.

          • San

If your Sams is closing that doesn’t make a lot of sense. Mine extended and my Sams is not closing. My only gripe is people trying to extend memberships that are expired many months ago. I find that a bit odd. However if it works, it works!

  18. MidWestJess

    Thanks!! Just signed up!

  19. Jenny

    Sweet! Thx!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re very welcome!

  20. Chrys

Thanks! I just joined in later November and the 2 closest ones are closing 🙁 I cancelled.

  21. Kim B

Thank you so much for this! Love a 3 month free, did I mention free extension 😂😀
    Happy Friday!

  22. MAB

Note on bottom of form states: The offer for three month extension of membership and requests for refunds through this site apply only to members in closing clubs. Upon submitting your request you will receive a confirmation email that we are processing your request. If the home address we have on file for you is not associated with a closing club you will be notified with a second mail in 3-5 business days with further instruction

For Sam’s Business™ members, we can only provide a refund to the cardholder who paid for the membership. If we are unable to determine who paid for the membership, the refund will go to the primary cardholder.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh wow! Looks like the fine print has been updated since we posted this offer. Thanks for the heads up on the change!

  23. Mamabear

Haha! Thank you! Our membership expires today!

  24. Couponer

    Thank you so very much!

  25. Dd

    Hello Dear Collin,

We are in Richmond VA .. one of the sams club store is closing and when I called them they said everything is 25% off .. we grabbed as much as we want and saved hundreds of dollars 😊

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh good! Sorry to hear your store is closing but SUPER glad you could score such awesome savings! Thanks for sharing!

  26. Clara

If you are in Alaska, do NOT renew your membership or sign up for Sam’s Club. All three Sam’s Club locations (Anchorage and Fairbanks) are permanently closing by January 26. If you recently joined or renewed your membership, you may be able to get a prorated refund on your membership. There are deals starting today at the Alaska locations, 25% merchandise at the register.

    • Kim

I’m sorry to hear that and you get a FULL refund not prorated. You can fill out the form linked above or go to the membership desk. (Probably hectic in store so nice that they did make a website form dedicated to it. I just wanted you to know it’s fully refundable not prorated. Even if your store is not closing. Just like Costco could be last day of membership if you weren’t happy they will give you full refund.

      • csinalaska

Kim – just realized I missed your comment months ago, ack! Yes, we got a full refund on our membership. Our store closed and then it got turned into a Walmart Pick-up (mainly grocery) pick-up center that just officially opened on Tuesday!

  27. Louie2

I opted for the check, yes it will take up to 6weeks to get in mail but to receive money in the mail is always great. I use to love Sam’s but they’ve hiked up there prices so much I don’t go anymore. I’m okay with this because I live right by an Aldi, Winco, and Walmart.

  28. Nicole S.

I did it after everybody said it was for only those that had stores that were closing and our store is not closing and I got a email telling me mine would be extended in 5 to 7 days.

  29. lowes 6qt 49.99

Thanks. We are very upset our club is closing but we can go to another one. Its just not as convenient. Will use online services. Been a member since the eighties. 😉

I got a postcard in the mail from Sam’s this week. I about tossed it as my card expired back in May. But it said “We noticed your membership expired, so we went ahead and added 60 extra days to your account, on us. Renew before March 10, 2018 and we will give you a free $10 gift card to get you started. Sincerely, your local Sam’s Club.” I’m in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, area and Sam’s is staying open. I didn’t renew last May as I don’t go there much and Costco is my personal preference.

  31. Julia

Are you people serious? Signing up for the extension when your card has already expired is stealing. No wonder so many places are going under. You obviously need some Churching in your lives!

    • Just

      Agree. That is incredible.

  32. Princess

    I just received this email.
    Dear Princess,
We received your request for a 3-month extension of your Sam’s Club membership. This extension is only for members who received a notice about their club closure. As such, we are unable to process your request and apologize for the confusion.

If you feel you should have received a club closure notification but did not, please contact Member Services at 1-888-746-7726.

    Sincerely,

Your Sam’s Club Member Services Team

This was the initial email I received after submitting request back on 1-12-18.

    Your membership has been extended.
    Dear Princess,

Thanks for being a valued Sam’s Club member.

Your free 3-month membership extension is now active.

You can shop at any Sam’s Club location or online at SamsClub.com, where you’ll find tons more items at exclusive prices. Plus, free shipping on many favorites.

You’ll still be able to cancel your membership and request a refund anytime. Just go to the Member Services Desk at any Sam’s Club or call Member Services at the number below.

    • Princess

Just to add I would’ve never requested the extension had I known it was only for those members whose store(s) are closing. When I saw the post I just assumed it was something being offered to all members as a way of attempting to keep those not affected by the closings from cancelling (a way of saying I know what we did is somewhat awful, but we do value you as a member). I wasn’t trying to get over or take advantage I only did what the post instructed me to do.

  33. grannyk

I got the retraction statement, too after I paid for a membership($45) in order to purchase some items this am. They had no idea when I told them it was extended. Was told to pay,and then bring the e-mail in for refund. It makes me so mad. I was not planning on renewing.

  34. Aonie Johnson

    Just got this today!

  35. Elle

Yeah, I got an email saying my club isn’t closing so no extension. Even though my club is closing. I live in a large city that had 6 clubs, now down to 5. The one that is closing was only 10 min away. It’s about 20 min to the next closest which is a high traffic route that could easily take twice as long on a bad day 🙁. They could have determine which club is your primary by where you do most of your shopping and offered extensions that way. I am unlikely to renew when it is not in my normal errand area and every trip would have to be a special trip.

  36. Patricia Mooney

    Cancel membership.

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hey there! You will need to contact your Sam’s club in order to cancel. Hope that helps! 🙂
