hi, has anyone used the thermos before for carrying baby food, how long do they keep them warm? Thanks so much!

Not baby food, me food! In the morning I will boil water (just in the microwave for a few minutes) then put it into my thermos, seal it up. I’ll heat up my food in the microwave next. Dump water out, dry and put lunch in it and it is good several hours later. Not the best help but hope it gives you a starting point!

What are some kids lunch ideas to put in these?

    • Kelly

      Soup, Mac & cheese, pasta…

I usually heat up dinner leftovers for my son or cut up a hamburger, pancakes, sausages. Anything really. I boil the water in a kettle, then fill the Thermos and seal. I let it set while I heat up or cook the food on the stove top in Lodge cast iron cookware. It heats the food up fast and cooks quickly. Empty the water and dry the Thermos. Put on the food and good to go. My son’s lunch is always hot/warm. Great investment.

Iโ€™ve put Mac and cheese, spaghettios and other noodles, chicken noodle soup, etc. I find that the more full it is the better it stays warm. I do the same as the other poster, put very hot water in it for a bit then put hot food in it and I make sure I pack all room temperature or warm things that day so nothing cools it down.

My children use for chicken nuggets, as well as for pasta marinara, for hot school lunch. Also great at keeping other foods they like cold, such as chicken salad or cottage cheese.

I bake chicken nuggets on foil-lined pans then with a hot mitt, wrap up in the foil and put in the thermos for keeping extra warm. I store the drink bottles in the freezer and send milk and my son has some for breakfast and some at lunch and itโ€™s plenty cool.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Thanks for sharing how you have used these Lisa!
