The best transitional car seat ever. Cleans well since all of it comes off and washes. Sturdy and highly rated as well, yes I did check consumer reports ratings when I got mine over 5 yrs ago. My son used it for many many years. He’s turning 9 this month and we are probably done with it now due to his height/weight but it does go up to 100 pounds as a booster seat. Yes I know every child is different so check the specs with your child. If your child fits with this seat, get it. Very good seat. Very good price. Thanks hip2save
We love this seat as well. My oldest son will be 8 in April and is quite tall but only 55 lbs so we still use it with the 5 pt harness. Safety First! I also did lots of comparison shopping and checked ratings and reviews before choosing this seat when I bought it. We have all been very happy with it, and have since also bought one for dad’s truck. At this price I may buy another for my 3 1/2 year old who is getting a bit big for his convertible seat!
Be sure the harness is still originating from above his shoulders. When the shoulders reach the top harness slot, the harness is outgrown and it needs to be transitioned to booster mode. Great seat!
It is; this seat is very adjustable! It is on the highest spot now though, and the head surround is also as high as it can go and his head is still below it, but not for long. (My husband used to be the person trained and certified to install infant and child car seats at the dealership that he works at until the dealership stopped offering this service.☺)

How does this compare to the graco 4ever?
The 4 ever is a seat that will rear face and can be used from birth and up. This seat (Nautilus) is only forward facing and for children age 2 and up.
I want to get one for my son and one for my daughter but the black concerns me with the heat, does anyone have experience with the black one? Thanks
I have the black one with red trim and I don’t think the color really affects the temperature too much. The material is breathable so that really helps keep the seat cool. I live in the East Coast so our summers haven’t been super hot. On days that is 90+ degrees, I will put a light towel on the seat of it is too warm/hot. Also helps If you have a window shade. This is a great price bc I bought mine around $120. Absolutely love this car seat and recommend it.

Does this seat have the quick clip latches? Does it tighten and install easily? How bulky compared to just a high back booster. My youngest will be 4 soon and should be 30lbs by then and I’d love to be done with the difficult harnesses and move to using the seatbelt with the seat. Does this have a very tall bottom part? One of my biggest issues with car seats os they sit up so high in the car that getting in them is like mountain climbing! Any reviews would be much appreciated
It is a very bulky seat. It has the regular clip on lower anchors. It installs okay I’m most vehicles I’ve come across, but some can be difficult, especially with the seat belt install. Children should be in a harness until Kindergarten and 40 pounds, or when they are mature enough to sit properly 100% of the time (some don’t hit this milestone until 6-7 years old). You might like the Graco Wayz. It’s slim, light and not too cumbersome. The Cosco Finale would be another light, slim choice as well as budget friendly.
