Interested in hearing what people do with these other than smoothies! We eat a lot of avocadoes in our house (my kids usually just eat them cubed). It can be frustrating when they’re underripe at the store and you need them right away. Would these thaw ok? Or would they just be mushy?

I freeze avocados all the time when I can get them cheap. They thaw kind of mushy but I use them for guacamole and they’re fine.

My kids are the same way and we’ll eat two and that last one we bought usually just ends up dying! LOL I bought these a few weeks ago, but I’ve been kinda scared of how they’ll be once thawed!

Once the avocado ripens, I stick it in the refrigerator and they hold for a couple weeks without going bad! HTH!

        • Lindsay

I do that too! They keep forever!

        • Jac

Same, and it works very well for us. I also freeze my own avocados: cut in half, scoop out, put into a bowl of lemon or lime juice, lay out on a try to freeze, then transfer to a freezer back. They work great for smoothies.

          • A

Even easier- I just cut in half, remove pit, dip each half in lemon/lime juice and freeze with skin on in freezer bags, try to remove as much air as possible.

I have had these before. Would not recommend. I used them in smoothies, guac, and other things and they tasted funny. You could tell something was off even mixed with all the stuff in smoothies.

My first thought was Yuck! Not sure how the texture/taste would be.

I love these frozen avocados😍. I’ve been using this rebate for the 32oz bags from BJ’s. Great buy! Besides smoothies they can be defrosted and used on salads or for guacamole 🥒🥑🥕🍅🌶.

Not related to this post but I was just wanting to ask about when the app will be updated to be able to be used for the h2s insider program where we can earn points and stuff. I thought I remember someone on the team saying to look for it in the new year. I never ever think to use the website. I only ever use the app on my phone. Thanks!

Hi Kalynn! It will be available VERY soon! Stay tuned!

        Yay!!

…I didn’t even know avocados came frozen!

    • mel

Yeah, this is new. I’ve been freezing my avocado halves for years though. Just like the above poster, scooping out the halves, dipping in lemon (or lime) juice, flash freezing and then storing in a ziploc baggie. They do defrost mushy, so better to use in smoothies or making as a spread on toast.

Interesting! I’ve never seen avocados frozen! We always eat ours fresh.

Thank goodness I always have fresh avocados available near me. I will leave it at that.

We tried these defrosted and on salads and it didn’t quite taste the same. Kind of like how bagged salad always has a slightly different taste. I wouldn’t use them that way again, but maybe mixed with other ingredients they would be ok.

Thanks for letting us know, Dawn!

I purchased these at BJ’s and promptly returned them as they had an off taste, almost fishy. Not sure if it has something to do with how they freeze them or what but they were awful.
