Looking for a unique way to serve broccoli?

Check out these yummy and kid-friendly broccoli tots! Serve them as a healthy homemade snack or side dish! They feature diced broccoli, onion, Parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs. Use your food processor to quickly dice the broccoli and onion, or a knife if desired.

You can form them into a “tot” shape, or simply bake in a mini muffin pan. The Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs add lots of yummy flavor and the texture is perfectly crispy on the outside.

Homemade Baked Broccoli Tots

A creative and healthy take on the tater tot, featuring broccoli and Parmesan cheese!

  • Step 1:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bring a pot of water to boil on the stove.

  • Step 2:

Place head of broccoli in the pot for one minute to blanch. Rinse with cold water and drain well.

  • Step 3:

Dice onion and broccoli with a knife or in a food processor.

  • Step 4:

In a large mixing bowl, combine diced broccoli, onion, egg, Panko bread crumbs, cheese, and seasonings.

  • Step 5:

Spoon out 1-1 1/2 tablespoons of mixture and shape tot in your hand. Place tots on a parchment paper lined baking tray. Or forgo rolling by hand and bake in a greased mini muffin pan to save on time.

  • Step 6:

Bake at 400 degrees for about 20-24 minutes until slightly brown. Makes about 20-22 tots.

Additional Notes

Adapted from

These broccoli tots are YUMMY!

I like the idea of replacing potato with broccoli for additional nutrition. You can definitely change up the seasoning and add any style bread crumbs your family enjoys. I’ve heard you can even replace the breadcrumbs with almond meal for a low carb version.
