I have a question related to roku… did anyone else sign up to have something sent you to but never receive anything? I can’t remember what it was exactly but I thought they were supposed to send something to fix an issue with the older rokus.
The only thing that comes to mind are extension cables that they would send for the original Roku stick. It was so if the stick was too wide to plug in next to other stuff you had plugged into your tv.
I really would like some input on these devices and what’s the best subscription service to use and is it just movies or can u watch shows like wrestling and moonshiners I really would like to kill my $200 a month cable bill
Also do I just type in what u want to watch or can u record things to watch later I really don’t know how it works
We just got a roku tv and I am really impressed. While there is alot of apps with free things to watch you will likely want to pay for Amazon prime, netflix or hulu to get more recent things to watch, subscription fees vary. You can’t record anything to watch later but you really don’t need to because you just search for what you want to see and play when you want to. You can access movie digital downloads and there are apps that you can just purchase or rent movies to watch. It was really simple to set up and I was streaming tv in minutes. I didn’t know much about it until we got the roku tv and I am definately going to consider cutting our direct tv when our contract is up. When we got the tv we weren’t looking for a roku tv, it just happened to be the best deal. Now I am so glad we got it. Keeping in mind you will still need to pay for internet service to use a roku device and possible subscription fees to streaming services it may or may not be cheaper. Internet in our area is rather high if it is not bundled with tv so it may not be cheaper for us to lose satellite tv.

cheap mom: If you currently have cable and you want to try to ‘cut the cable’ but still have the cable experience without the cable price tag, then your best bet is to go with a ‘live TV streaming service’. Netflix and Amazon have movies and TV shows, but for live TV, like news and sports and events like award ceremonies, you’ll need something like DirecTV Now, You Tube TV, Sling, Playstation Vue, Hulu TV. There are other live TV streaming services, but the ones I’ve listed also allow you the capability of recording programs to a Cloud DVR. They also have an inventory of ‘on demand’ programs…similar to what you experience with your cable tv service. I’ve found that having a live TV streaming service and subscribing to Netflix more than make up for what I watched when I had cable tv.
I’ve owned a Roku since 2011 although they keep improving. I stream with Directv Now in my living room on my Apple TV device that I received from the trial and their also improving their services. I’ve had it since the beginning of last year I was going to cancel only because I had bad internet service where I lived it didn’t work to well now it’s great I’ve relocated. Roku’s are in my bedrooms stream Netflix. Give it a try you can also sign up for the trial and may get a free device. I have access to more channels than I did with Direct TV regular satellite service. With this Roku device you should be able to watch Directv Now. Yes you would be able to watch moonshiners. 🙂I say do some research and give it a try. I download free channel apps for local channels or NBC, ABC. Doesn’t cost an arm and leg either. I’m satisfied I just hate that Netflix keeps increasing their price but still affordable for now.

How much is Netflix with the Roku? I’m thinking of getting it for my hubby for valentines day!!! We don’t have a smart tv just a regular old HD …Do you have to pay a monthly fee to get Net flix and hulu? Or do you just pay a one time fee?
Netflix or hulu have a monthly fee doesn’t matter which device you use, roku, Amazon stick etc
