ToysRUs Closing Sale = Up to 30% Off Everything

Hip2Save may earn a small commission via affiliate links in this post. Read our full disclosure policy here.

If you haven’t heard the news, ToysRUs recently announced that they will be closing nearly 180 stores across the United States starting this month.

If your store is one that is indeed closing (see a list of closing stores here), you may want to head in store as they have begun to mark down items by as much as 30% off. And the discounts should get steeper as stores get closer to permanently closing in April.

Expect to find items marked down by 10-30% off the regular price and note that books, food and select brands are excluded. Also keep in mind that clearance items are non-returnable.

What deals have you spotted at your local ToysRUs store?

Do ww have an exact date that all the stores on the list will be closed by?

    • Marie

My store in Fort Smith, AR said April.

      • Katie

I’m from Poteau! So cool getting to see another Hip2Saver that lives so close!

        • Ginger

I use to live in Talihina….

  2. nkaplan

We were there over the weekend and almost everything was only 10% off. Cards and wrapping paper were 30%.

Electronics, legos and other name brands were not on sale at all!!

I felt like it was false advertising. 🙂

  3. Casey Meyers

Our Toys R Us/Babys R Us is not clothing.

  4. Amanda

I haven’t gone yet. I’m hoping to go early-mid march hopefully most things won’t be cleared out by then?

  5. cassandane

Meh. The store near me put everything back to full MSRP then took 20-30% off that. Still more expensive than other store. They do the same for the car seat trade in next week. Same TRU/BRU move, and why I rarely shop there.

  6. Jen Law

I am so shocked our closest one isn’t shutting down. It is so run down & dirty that I only go there maybe once a year if that.

  7. Sara

Our last BabiesRUs in the area is closing and they were starting to mark down stuff a couple weeks ago.

  8. Amy

not marked down much at all! we went to ours that is closing and most was 10% off regular prices. some stuff was only 5% off. some stuff wasn’t discounted at all (books, for example). don’t get too excited … most people were walking in and then right back out.

  9. momo

Our BRU is closing but no sale signs posted yet. Only Xmas & some winter clearance items present.

  10. Lauren

Most stuff only 10% Off in Oklahoma

They will still continue online, right? My kids have accumulated some gift cards there, and I want to make sure we use them soon if we need to 🙂

    • DealAddict

We have agiftcard too. Also wondering if online will exist.

      • Alli

There’s still hundreds of stores….online will still be there..

    • Bennett Fultz

No but amazon is luckily thinking about buying toys r us’ 500best stores’

  12. Brkfstsprinkles

It should really read… everything in the store is 10% off (regular prices) and some is 30% off… I’m waiting till everything is more reduced.

  13. Trannietoes

“Nothing held back” yet “exclusions apply”! Haha. I went to BRU last week and everything is only 10% off. Only hats and sunglasses were 20% off. Things 30% off was because it was 10% off clearance items, making it 30% off. Things like diapers, sunscreen, toiletries and the like were excluded from any markdowns. “Nothing held back” yeah right. I might be interested when things start getting to 50% off or more later.

Our store is closing and we were there this weekend looking to buy furniture that is back ordered. All furniture was marked down 10%. We asked to speak with the manager and he made us an amazing deal. We paid less for two pieces than the price for one. However the rest of the items we will be waiting until there are better discounts.

  15. pokz

Mostly 10%off… diapers and wipes not included…

  16. Sherry

Toys R Us and Babies R us are rip offs! I’m surprised ours are not closing. They are overpriced and customer service is awful. I rarely score any deals at all!!

  17. couponer

Their pricing won’t be competitive until it hits 50% off.

  18. Judy Trac

    Can I use coupons

  19. Nina

I know I never shop at Toys r us anymore. It’s expensive compared to other options. When I was a kid it was the only option for a toy store but now between online like Amazon and a TON of other websites, not to mention places like Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, Walmart, Target..yea it’s kind of had its day.

    • Mizz Mo

Ours was competitive this past Christmas season and it looks like our local store will be staying open. Regular prices are high – but their sales prices were pretty great.

  20. Sasha

We LOVE toys r us and sad stores are closing. Where else can one physically look at so much toy inventory? AND they price match with target/Walmart!! How will children discover a new love? Will they scan one particular category on-line and never see what else is out there? In addition to price matching, we get incentive to shop there with rewards!!

    • Lora

Sasha, you make some great points. The experience of going to TRU is hard to beat, especially for a child. And to those complaining about the lack of sale pricing, TRU is not just going to give away their merchandise. It’s typical store-closing protocol to start off with low percent-off value and increase as tge final days approach. I don’t understand why some people are so surprised.

      • Patandrod

I’m in full agreement. They price match, they offer rewards with their member cards, they have special events on a regular basis and give out lots of freebies, they have the biggest selection of toys compared to all the other stores…i’m thankful our store won’t be closing. My little one loves it there and has the biggest smile on his face every time I mention we will be taking a trip to Toys’R us.

Sad. It was Children’s Palace in Ohio when I was growing up. 🦒
