Oh no!! We did our taxes yesterday, and paid $45 for H&R Block 😢

I was planning on using them. Isn’t software “free” online, you just pay to file? Is this a savings in the filing fee? Thx!

Raquel, we utilize TurboTax for ours (too complicated for simple programs) and pay around $60, but my spouse who does our 2 sons, he finds it free online for them (both in 20s) with no filing fees. I think it really depends on the income. The hard part is really getting the info in there first, and then provided you utilize the same program, i.e., H&R or TurboTax the following year, data rolls over, making it a tiny bit less painful. Good luck in whatever you choose.

That makes sense, thank you for the info!

Check with your credit card or online bank account. Some are offering free filing to customers.

I was on IRS.gov yesterday because I thought you could e-file through them for free. Turns out it’s not directly through the irs but places like h&r, turbo tax etc. there was I think like 10+ Free options depending on factors like income or EIC qualifying. I have done the 1040a through turbo tax in the past but i needed a 1040 this year going through the irs webpage I was able to use turbo tax for free for my 1040 because we get the Earned income credit. Plus you can ask advice without any charge.

Does this include efile? Are there any additional charges please help
