I followed the steps and the movie I selected, which was on the list, cost $4.99+tax after I checked out. I contacted Google Play and requested a refund, which I got quite quickly. I guess I was not the first person to respond to this offer and be overcharged.

Darn! Sorry to hear about that. It seems only select users qualify for this offer. Glad they were able to issue you a refund so quickly!

Any movies that you rent or buy on Google, if you haven’t watched them, are refunded nearly instantly upon request.

This 99 cent offer is targeted. For any offers like this, the best thing to do is go to the main Store page and see what banners show up for you. Just because the link posted here loads, doesn’t mean you’re eligible.

Tried to add to cart and not seeing the discount.

Bummer! Apparently it’s only for select customers. So sorry you didn’t see it on your account.

One of my gmail accounts had 1.99 and the other had .99. I got Thor and Coco! Still a deal. To see if you qualify for a promo you have to scroll through the movie page and see a banner “welcoming you back”. My mom’s Gmail account, which she uses often to buy ebooks, has no promo so I guess it is for people who haven’t bought in a long while.

Thanks a bunch for the helpful tip Daniela!

I figured it out. If you click on the links listed, it will charge you full price. But, if you go to Google movies directly, it shows you a red banner on the home page to rent any movie for 99cents. Once you click on that banner, it will adjust all movies to 99 cents. Hope that helps!
