Do you love the farmhouse look as much as we do?
It’s pretty hard to turn on HGTV and not see a renovation that doesn’t include farmhouse elements in their interior design – and retailers are paying attention.
The only problem? These rustic pieces typically come with higher price tags. 😳
During a recent shopping trip to Big Lots, we couldn’t help but notice the retailer has started curating some seriously pretty and functional farmhouse home decor – and for prices which won’t break our budget. We were so excited, we couldn’t wait to share our favorite finds and tips so you can create your own little piece of southern chic heaven!
*Note that the prices listed are full retail price, though there’s a chance they could be marked down online or in-store. Even better, they often offer coupons that you can pair with these already great prices to save even more.
Start with unfinished, weathered, or barnhouse wood elements.
Probably the BIGGEST part of the farmhouse trend is using wood that looks like it was used in a farmhouse! It’s also what makes the style so approachable, since defects are totally welcome. 😍 The more character a piece has, the more it takes on that farmhouse charm.
Stratford Rustic 2-Drawer Writing Desk | $99.99
How could you NOT be excited to work when you’re sitting at this beautiful desk!?
Hanging Circle Shelf | $22
That unfinished, weathered wood – along with a slightly fraying hanging rope – just oozes farmhouse vibes! I’m eyeing this for my entry. #MailAndKeysPlease
Mix in some matte metals.
Aged wood, meet aged metal, another farmstead staple. This deliciously rustic accent has the coveted “pre-loved” look of something that’s withstood the test of time – all without ‘barn-find’ concerns like rusty metals and tetanus shots.
“Gather” Metal Decor | $15
Round Hanging Wall Mirror with Rope, 19″ | $20
The matte black metal trim with knotty rope detailing brings a modern edge to this farmhouse mirror.
Get on board with shiplap.
If you’ve ever watched Joanna Gaines – even for just one minute – you’ve heard of shiplap. This board-by-board technique lends a classic finish to any farmhouse wall. Good news for you: instead of committing an entire wall to planks, you can opt for pieces mimicking the popular trend.
“So Blessed” Metal Word Wall Plaque | $12
This sign has it all in the farmhouse world! Distressed shiplap, “So Blessed”, and laser cut from galvanized metal.
Blue Bicycle Wood Plank Plaque | $24
A mismatched array of boards create this unique take on shiplap. We’re also digging the adorable vintage mini bicycle!
Blend in textured fabric like linen or burlap.
